I burst inside the door of my room to find the bed empty. It only struck me that I woke up in this room where Rhys should be occupying. My eyes scan around the spacious area before moving to the other room that I stayed temporarily, only to see it empty as well.
Dazians ran after me when I bolted so suddenly. They stop beside my frozen body, out of breath, while they observed the surroundings of the castle's corridor.
"Where is Rhys?" Faye asks, taking a peek inside the open door of my temporary room.
I glance at the door beside mine, swallowing the lump that forms my throat, seeing anything that used to belong to him. I'm holding myself back from mourning too much, even if the weight on my chest is unbearable. I have to get through the pain.
My face drops to the ground, and my shaky freehand raises to a small extent so I can see the ring Ducan gave. I do not know the reason behind such a beautiful gift, but I will look into it.
