The room became dimmer with only the fireplace as the source of light. There was no need to turn the lamps on because the body lying in the bed of this most spacious vacancy is soulless. 

"Still, they should have brightened the place a tad bit to make it seem less eerie with a body here," I frowned, lighting the candles inside the lamps on the walls with the help of a stool. 

"But the light will only attract unnecessary attention, so you'll have to rid of those lights you lit when we go. Thank you for the effort," Ducan mocks.

I glare at Ducan that did not bother sparing me any help. He only leaned his back on the door, staring maliciously at Rhys. I decided not to light any more lamps and instead headed toward Rhys' body. 

I used to love Rhys' skin, the flawless tanned skin; despite the many times he would have fought creatures, he never earned a scratch. Now, he's only pale, bringing out the dark circles under his eyes.
