Chapter 85 - Chapter 79:Answer the Question

"Answer the question Lady.Victoria." Should I answer the question? I don't know entirely what's going on and I guarantee that they won't tell me the truth.

I suck in a breath, pressing on a smile, "I just wonder what made Mr.Kyle leave his original post, was there no one else to deliver my mother's message?" They're silent for a bit until one says, "The Lady of the House made the decision and we respect it. You should too."

Mr.Kyle was the one who initiated the decision but my mother's opinion is the only one to matter. I suppose the maids don't know Mr.Kyle was the one to suggest the decision. My smile fades and I wait til we reach my room, several other maids passing by but they don't seem to have on masks. Atleast not physical ones.

"We are here, Lady.Victoria, be quick, The Lady of the House is waiting and she doesn't have much patience." I give them a curtsy, "I understand, thank you for escorting here." "You are welcome and again if Mr.Kyle says anything out of line you let us know immediately." "He didn't say anything at all though." "You heard what we said, Lady.Victoria."

I turn to my room and head inside, I don't even have the appetite for lunch. Though, I suppose it will be nice to have a quick break, not sure it will be pleasant with my mother in the room but atleast it's something.

I take a look around, no hairstylists present or seamstress, it's surprisingly just me. I check around one more time, even checking the bathroom and closet to make sure, no one. I know the maids are still waiting on me outside so my time is limited but I can definitely look at this piece of paper.

I turn my hand over and see that's it's slightly smeared by sweat, only a few words left legible. 'MEET IN GARDEN', it says and I shruch my face up at the words, being left confused by the rest of it. Why did Mr.Kyle give me this? Is he really involved with Rene', has he been the writing notes? Is he working with someone and why does it say to meet in the garden?

There's a banging on the door, "Lady.Victoria are you almost ready?!" It makes me jump and I drop the note on the floor, "Almost ready! Apologies for taking so long." I take in a deep breath, picking the note back up and going over to my vanity mirror. There's a small jewelry box over there, in which I put the note in, crumbling it up first before I go back to the middle of the room.

On my resting area there is a gown, a midnight colored dress that has ruffles at the end and there are flats to go along with it. I guess this is what I'm suppose to wear, so I change into it leaving my old clothes behind. A sentimental thought causing me to pause before I go anywhere else.

I know I haven't thought about it too much but I wonder how Rene' is doing, if she's even alive. It feels like I've been in this house forever. Another birthday probably approaching for me while she's in an unreachable place, probably unsure what to do. She was always so kind to me, making me feel like a better person in this bitter place and now she's gone.

A hallow void is left in my heart, and I feel it grow tighter each day I'm here. The screams getting louder and the echoes of despair crowding the corners of my mind. I honestly don't even know how I made it this long or why I'm even here. I can barely do a simple task without being berated and my mental strength is about as weak as my physical.

It honestly seems like I'm useless, an absolute failure of a doll that can't even look the part of an Acres heir. Now I'm suppose to have lunch with the Queen of The House? The closest thing to perfection according to the maids, and I am just a sad excuse of a descendant from her. If not for some of my looks, I wouldn't even be sure I was from her..

It seems like we're completely different anyway, how did I even turn out this way?

"Lady.Victtoria!" I snap out of my thoughts, and straighten my gown, making sure my hair is decent before I exist the room. "I'm here." "It took you long enough, it almost made us think you would never come out." I don't answer to the comment and it seems like the maids are grateful I don't.

"Hurry now we need to make Haste." Haste, that's what Mr.Kyle said…I wonder if that has anything to do with the note, or the garden. I follow the maids to the elevator and as soon as it opens, they leave. The guards are waiting for me and I enter, being reminded of this cold elevator hundreds of times. I barely take the stairs and even when I do, it doesn't make much of a difference. The only thing being is that the stairs actually give me more time with my thoughts.

Ding! We made it downstairs already, and I feel the air in my lungs already leaving. My hands brewing sweat as I step out the elevator already feeling the chilling atmosphere of the room. A long table lies in the middle with serval chairs to accompany it, my mother sits at the far end with her usual dark veil.

Her head tilting up ever so slightly when she sees me enter the room. "Victoria." She states, in the most sugary voice with a light laugh following. "I see you decided to finally join me." I wince knowing what's coming next, "Why are you wincing? Come and sit, I want to hear how your day went."

She wants to hear how my day went? My mother? Without yelling at me? Doesn't she already know how it went? Also why isn't she yelling?

Has she been cloned!?
