Chapter 2 - Dancing On The Train

I sat in my literature class doodling away at the back of my notebook. My mind was clearly somewhere else and it seemed ro be because of that boy. That dark skinned guy with curly brown hair and hazel eyes that could melt any heart. I had zero experience in the love department, in fact I had never been kissed before. It made me feel almost embarrassed that here I was at twenty years old never had her first kiss. It was something I had subconsciously held on to waiting for the right person. I was still a virgin white as snow , I just couldn't give myself to just anyone no it had to be with someone who deeply cared about me. "Alright that's all class. Don't forget you have a ten page paper due next week so I advise you to get started right away" the professor said before taking his leave. I began packing my things and making my way towards my next class, I climbed two flights of stairs before stopping in front of a room that read E-304. I snatch a seat at the back of class as a few students trickled in, the rest of the day passed on like that and before I knew it I was having lunch alone in the semi full cafeteria. I had ordered a slice of pizza with a can of pepsi. I had been starving since I ate breakfast a while ago, I had been so absorbed in my food I didn't see a crowd of students hanging around a table across from me. I tried paying them little attention when I felt the strong gaze of eyes on me. Turning my head slightly there sat the grinning hazel eyed boy staring at me intently , he placed his head inside his hand tilting his head a bit so his dark hair fell in his eyes. It didn't take me long to recognize him being the guy from the room I had peeked in. He sent me a loving smile with a small wink causing me to gasp in shock. I seemed to be his center of attention but the more he kept staring at me the more I felt wary of him. Having enough I immediately get up to throw my trash away. I dart out of there so fast I never once look back to see if he was still looking at me.

I made my way towards the 7th train. I still had an hour before I needed to pick up Matthew so for now I would head home. The September air was still cool and warm as a light breath of air passed through. I reached the station making my way towards the platform there was a huge delay and I mentally cursed myself for not leaving sooner. I stood there playing with the gold hoop in my nose shifting my weight from one leg to the next. I was never one to pay attention to my surroundings so I hadn't noticed I was being followed. When the train finally came I stepped on quickly taking a seat. There were barely people on it and I thanked my lucky stars, just then a group of African American boys got on the train screaming "SHOW TIME SHOW TIME".

They placed a large speaker down on the floor before loud music flowed throughout the train. That was New York City for you, this was something done on a regular basis and so I leaned in my seat waiting for it all to be over. The music was so loud my head throbbed in pain, I sighed deeply and my heart

stopped when I saw a hand placed in front of me. It belonged to the hazel eyed boy who had the biggest smile on his face as if he had achieved something.

"Dance with me" he begged before grabbing my hand into his large one. He towered over my five feet frame nudging his nose against mine. I was mentally panicking, I had no clue how to dance and wanted nothing more than to rid of this situation. He twirled me around and I was reluctant to even move my feet "follow my lead" he whispered with a gentle smile as the group of boys stood hollering at us hyping us up. The train was now full and it was then I realized I missed my stop. Cursing myself I let go of the mysterious boy's hand glaring him down. The train came to a halt and I immediately stomped off when I saw I had passed several stops by my original stop. I now had to go back which could take even longer, the hazel eyed boy eyed me with that stupid handsome smile of his. I turned facing him to give him a piece of my mind.

"I don't know who the hell you are but you better leave me alone! I'll call the cops on you... you ... you...ugh" I angrily stomped my feet like a child before I turned

to climb the stairs.

"Aabir"

"What" I asked confused

"My name is Aabir Chakmi, I'm a performing arts student at Village Arts Community College" he stated placing his hands in his pockets. Now getting a closer look at him I could tell he wasn't from here, his skin tone a dark tan color he had to be of indian race. He stared at me as if it had been the firs time as if I was some strange creature. But his gaze was soft and inviting and strangely enough I wanted to know more of him. A dark lock of his hair fell in his eyes as peeked through to send me a soft smile.

"Hmm well I don't care who you are! Now if you'll excuse me" I swiftly turn finally climbing the stairs to reach the other side of the platform that would take me back to my original stop. I was glad he had stopped following me when I glanced over to other side of the platform. He leaned his body against a pillar tilting his head a bit sending me a gentle wave.

It was then it hit me that we had danced together on the 7th train.
