The ship was silently drifted away from the platform. I sat there silently, feeling hopeless, Kyle's death was certain. I knew that but I still wished I could jump out the ship and save him somehow. Just how am I going to tell Mollie about this?
Guilt filled my heart as I recalled the moment my father said we would stay here for another week. I should've argued instead of giving in to his wishes once again, only then would have Kyle still been alive.
'Dam it all. Why now? How did we get surrounded, was the army slacking off, or did someone helped them trespass the defenses?'
"I would've done the same thing."
I looked to my left and saw Ian sitting next to me. I was so focused on Kyle that I didn't even notice when he sat down. I had to take in a deep breath before answering.
"I know you would, but I don't wish for that to happen. You do know you have a life too right?"
"Of course, but that doesn't mean I can't save you. If nothing it means you have to live."
"How exactly?"
"Well to begin, I'm fifteen, one year older than you so I should die before you. Then, honestly, I have nowhere to go if you die. And finally, you still have to avenge Kyle's death. Oh, and someone has to look after Mollie, after all, she has no one left to go to," he responded with a sad smile. When looking at his face I could see the anger, grief, and sorrow in his eyes.
I knew those eyes well. He was thinking of how Mollie will now be like him, alone and empty, after losing the last of her family. I can just imagine how heartbroken she will be, and it's all my fault. Pain filled my hands, looking down they were clenched tightly, I was startled. When did I close them so tightly?
"If you wan-"
"No, it's okay. I'm the one who should tell her, after all, she is now my responsibility."
"But, will he let her stay?"
"I'll make sure he does. It's not like he would care either way. He's always busy with other things."
"But before that lets hope we can make it out of here alive, then we can worry more about it."
I nodded my head, silently thinking about how to comfort Mollie once we meet.

"Preparations are ready for code [28t45], the power supply has been stabilized, ready at command."
"Where is the ambassadors' family?"
"There on the route, as soon as they board the Gilion, all execrable forces will guide them through."
"I want them there in less than five minutes, focus all defenses on the perimeter and begin opening the rift."
"Commencing energy output, the rift has began to open."
"Stabilizing space opening..."
"All forces are on position."
"Space opening has been stabilized."
"Continue monitoring, try to make no mistakes."
"Understood," they all answered and began to focus back on their work.
But there was one thing that they all had in mind which kept bothering them no matter how hard they tried to focus. After some time an officer mustered his courage and asked out loud, grabbing hold of everyone's attention.
"S...Sir.. do you think they'll show up, this equipment is hard to keep stable and it hasn't been fully cloaked...we risked getting their attention if not, we may take the whole planet with us."
After hearing this advice the commander fell silent. It's true that the equipment is unstable possibly causing a catastrophic explosion, and it does bring a great risk of alerting them here. Thinking things over he took a deep breath and answered.
"It matters not if it is unstable or if they do show up, this is our last move. If we don't risk it now we will all fall here today"
"..Yes, si-"
Shuh,shuh,
Interrupting the officer's response the main door is opened without warning causing disruption among the staff. With no explanation given, countless beams rushed into the room, destroying most of the equipment along with the confused staff. Shock expressions were left on each victim's face who now laid dead on the floor.
It didn't take long for the culprits to leave as they continued through the building clearing out every room in the same way, not giving anyone the chance to surrender.
Seconds later the commander opened his eyes, as he laid down on the floor. His wounds were fatal but he had a job to get done.If the system is not changed to automatically stabilize the rift everything will be destroyed. So he struggled to get up among his now-dead fellow men, activated the final protocol on his own finally sitting back on his chair.
He gasps for his breath, the pain was unbearable but he felt overjoyed.
" Even if dead I'll accomplish my job, glory to the empire and long li-"
Before he could finish speaking his neck was pierced by a knife. Behind the captain's chair, stood a young tall man with a wicked smile. He laughed at the man's words as he whispered in his ears.
"Death to your empire"

A minute later we arrived at an intense battlefield was our fleet protected four collosol pillars that emitted green energy to the center of each other. And in the center, I could finally see the gate my father has been working on for the past three years. It looked as if space itself was being ripped apart, destroyed, and finally reformed as the cycle continued.
The moment we were transferred to the arc Gilion I saw the gate expand by a kilometer in radius. Without warning the enemies' fire became even fiercer as they tried to prevent us from going through the gate at any cost.
My new escorts responded even quicker as Alan and I were rushed to the control room. The room was loud, every personnel was talking at a fast pace and typing on the controls with thundering speed.
"Amir, Alan your finally here." A tall man with short black hair and a stubble beard looked our way for a second before refocusing on the panels. The panels showed everyone's position, as well as the arc which was slowly moving into the gate, now only half of the arc needed to go through and we would be fine.
"Father, is everything alright?"
"Its nothing you two should worry about," he responded softly still focusing on the panel.
'Not worry about it? How can anyone say it's not something to worry about? Our lives are at stake here, anything could go wrong at any moment. This gate hasn't been fully built yet'
After that, I couldn't find anything else to ask, I wasn't in the mod either way.
"Amir, should we leave?" Alan asked quietly so only I could hear. Thinking about it for a moment, I nodded my head and we began to head out the room.
Beep, beep, beep.
Unfortunately for us, the system alarm began to ring causing a panic among the busy crowd.
"They're here." someone said out loud. His face was filled with fear and terror.
Outside the arc, the gate began to expand even further rapidly engulfing the arc along with the ships nearby. Energy waves were emitted out rapidly sending shockwaves across the sky causing many battleships to collapse.
Then a wormhole opened at a distance from the gate, revealing a humongous beast covered in armor and weapons rapidly exiting along with many hybrids of a strange species which flew along with ease.
They began attacking any moving thing that stood in their way, aiming at the expanding gate with anger. They were furious, these galactic species dislike their prey using their methods. How could lowly beings try to imitate their sacred ways?
Everything took only five seconds to come to an end. The enemy forces were demolished as soon as more wormholes opened, along with any last defender. They moved quickly and suppressed the gate causing its collapse instantaneously. The gate swallowed everything inside, sending it to the infinite universe without a proper destination.
And just as how they arrived, they disappeared back the way the came from leaving behind a desolate and destroyed planet.
