Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 - Her Son

The door was slammed open as a beautiful woman with cold grey eyes walked in.

She had exquisite features.

Dressed in a white pencil skirt that reached her knees, paired with a peach-colored chiffon top that was tucked into her skirt, she looked elegant and classy.

But what caught people's attention was the dark and dangerous aura surrounding her.

Her cold eyes scanned through the room until her eyes fell on her little bun.

The moment the little one saw his mother, his eyes glistened with tears.

"Mama!!!" he called out pitifully.

Han Zhixin's eyes widened, and his heart fluttered the moment she entered.

He had never seen her in normal clothes; she always wore a cloak whenever they met. So this was a rare moment for him.

'Beautiful' was the first thought that came to his mind.

Although he had a guess about the little boy, he didn't know it would be this accurate.

Tang Li Mei looked at her little bun, who was covered in scratches, and her eyes instantly filled with tears.

She ran inside and quickly pulled her baby into her arms.

The little boy snuggled into his mother's arms while trying to hold in his tears.

Li Suyin walked in with another woman inside the private room.

The woman had short, wavy black hair, and with her slim features, she seemed to be an university student.

When her eyes fell on the man standing next to Tang Li Mei, her face quickly warmed up.

She had never seen a man who held this kind of overbearing aura around him. With his exquisite features, he looked drop dead gorgeous.

But that man's gaze were stuck on the grey-eyed beauty.

She quickly understood, and she busied herself with her other student.

Tang Li Mei checked the little one's injuries while holding him carefully in her arms.

"Xun'er, does it hurt a lot?" She asked in a low voice as her lips quivered.

The little bun shook his head and smiled at her.

"No!! Xun'er is fine, see.." he assured, giving a spin on the bed.

Han Zhixin was brutally tossed aside and ignored by this mother and son.

His face looked grave, but he already realized that he was just a stranger in her life.

Looking at his woman's tender behavior towards the little bun, he felt a little jealous.

"Xiao Mei," he called out to her in a low voice.

Tang Li Mei stiffened the moment she heard that voice.

Her lips twitched.

'No, no, no, no. I must be hearing things, right?? Otherwise, how is it possible for that lunatic to be here??' She nervously questioned herself.

She turned around to find the person she wanted to avoid the most.

She was stunned by his attire.

"You?? You work here??" She asked with surprise evident in her tone.

Han Zhixin smiled at her and nodded his head.

Doctor Lu, who was observing their interaction, felt his jaw drop at what he saw.

'Their chief smiled?? That too at a woman!!'

"Thank you for taking care of Xun'er." She thanked him politely and turned to focus on her son.

Han Zhixin felt his heart twist in pain at her polite and distant response.

"This is your son??" He asked.

The woman bit her lips so that she wouldn't say anything inappropriate to the person who was treating her son.

Tang Li Mei glanced at him and nodded her head.

The doctor looked at the boy, who looked exactly like his woman.

The little bun looked up and smiled at him.

"His injuries are not that severe, so he should be fine after resting. Let me finish dressing his knees and elbows," he said as he took a seat on the chair.

The grey-eyed beauty, who was sitting on the bed holding her baby, felt a little conscious of the closeness, but she pushed aside the feeling and nodded her head.

The man held onto the little one's elbows and helped him clean his wounds.

He peered at her from the corner of his eyes; his gaze turned gentle, and his lips hooked up.

His woman had her attention completely on the little one.

"Xiao Mei, can you help me with the dressing? Just lend me a hand when I ask you to. Okay??" He asked her with a gentle smile.

That innocent look only made Tang Li Mei's heart flutter as her cheeks warmed.

She glared at him but nodded her head.

'Why was he calling her so intimately?? And that too in front of her son!!'

Han Zhixin's heart tickled at her shy behavior.

'Oh, how badly he wished to hold her tightly in his arms.'

He knew he shouldn't force his feelings on her. But that doesn't mean he will let go of this chance.

After making his resolution, he quietly proceeded to tend to the little one.

The little bun looked at his mother and the doctor curiously with a glint in his eyes.

Li Suyin, on the other hand, couldn't utter a word about the way her boss was behaving.

'Xiao Mei?? Does her boss know this man??'

She stared at Tang Li Mei, who had a tinge of red on her cheeks, but her focus was on the little one's hand.

This left Li Suyin bewildered.

'Wha-what's going on?? Is this person really the demoness of the Tang Corporation??'

She took a look at the doctor, who held a serious look as he dressed the little one's wounds.

He sure was a fine specimen, and his gaze toward her boss seemed tender and soft.

But there was something about him that she couldn't put her hands on.

'Why do I feel like I have seen him somewhere??' She clicked her tongue while trying to jog her memory.

Han Zhixin and Tang Li Mei coordinated with each other so well that it surprised them.

The little boy was over the moon with all the attention he was getting.

"All done!! Xun'er, is it?? Next time you beat up someone, make sure you don't get injured, okay? Your mother would be troubled." He softly explained as he ruffled his hair with a smile playing on his lips.

The little one nodded his head and smiled widely.

Tang Li Mei was speechless. When did her son get close to this person??

Her son, who doesn't ever talk to strangers,

She looked up, only to be caught in his warm gaze.

When she remembered their little meeting, her cheeks warmed up again.

She quickly looked away from his doting gaze.

"Xiao Mei, make sure his wounds stay dry; there is a chance of his body developing a fever, so take care of him for the next few days," he instructed seriously.

Tang Li Mei listened carefully and nodded to every instruction he gave.

"When can we leave??" she asked quietly. Han Zhixin's heart thobbed, and he felt a little dejected.

'Did he scare her with his proposal?? So much that she wanted to run away from him so badly??' His pissed look made her squirm, but her gaze remained cold and detached.

He sighed. 'She sure is stubborn.'

"I will get someone to get the discharge procedure done, and then you can leave," he informed her gloomily.

Tang Li Mei noticed the change in his tone, but she disregarded the thought and gave him a firm nod.

He stared at her for some time before quietly holding her free hand.

She was stunned by the warm touch while her heartbeat fastened.

She tried to break free, but his hold on her hand tightened. She glared at him.

'What was he doing? Everyone will see.'

The others quickly looked away from this flirting couple. They were given enough dog food today.

Li Suyin finally remembered where she had seen him, and shock was evident on her face.

'This person...a Noble Prize winner and a neurosurgeon!!!'

"I'm sorry for the other day. It was never my intention to make you uncomfortable. So, please don't avoid me." He apologized.

Tang Li Mei stared at him before giving in.

"Alright," she nodded.

The man gave her a wide smile, which stunned her.

Her cheeks started to warm up again.

"Have you given it a thought about what I said the other day??" he asked in a whisper.

Tang Li Mei wanted to kick his a**.

She thought he had changed since he apologized, but this devil was spinning a web for her.

She glared at him, but his eyes remained gentle.

"There is nothing to think about; my answer remains the same," she coldly replied.

Han Zhixin expected her to say this, but it still hurt him to listen to her say it.

Tang Li Mei had a troubled look as she peered at the little one from time to time.

Seeing her like this, he felt his resolve waver.

He let go of her hand and sat there quietly, unable to utter a word.
