"When you scrunch up your nose at me, your eyes squint, and that's the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life, sunflower."
...
Rudy calls me in the morning to remind me that Tara's flight was leaving soon - not that I needed a reminder. It's all I've been thinking about since last night: how this is possibly the last time I'll be seeing Tara... and maybe Ayan too. Rubbing my sleep-deprived eyes, I get out of bed, brush my teeth and wear a yellow floral dress that has tiny sunflowers printed at the bottom. I have no interest in dressing up when I feel like shit and am likely to cry any second, but just for Tara's happiness, I wear the dress she likes the most.
Tying my hair in a messy ponytail, I slip on my sneakers — which is a major fashion blunder in Tara's eyes — and go and knock at Ansh's door.
"Hey," I say softly, grateful for how he took care of me yesterday. I knock on the door twice before entering inside. "Are you ready?" I ask him.
