"I value our friendship more than anything in this world."
...
Whispering something in Tara's ears, Ayan gets her to lie down in the comforter. Then, making eye contact with me, he gives me a grin and asks Tara to go to sleep.
I snort; there's no way she will. It's as if he is asking a thief to not steal. Of course, he would steal.
I turn off all the lights, keeping the night light on as I take a seat on my chair, placing my legs over the bed.
As the light fades away, Tara yawns, tugging at Ayan. "Ayan?" she asks, her face brightening expectantly, "If I sleep, you'll do that?..."
"Do what?" I direct my question to Ayan, who instead of answering me, strokes Tara's forehead.
"Yes, I will. But remember what I told you; it's our little secret," he says as Tara's eyes go wide, and she nods her head in agreement. "You can't even tell Naira!"
