Chapter 24 - Disappointing Shopping Trip

"Okay. That's the chart for how many weapons you can steal before you need to pay up." Alina pointed at a chart on the wall. "It also differs greatly between models and brands 'cause these babies aren't cheap, with some custom made even. We do have a loaning system, with the details on here too." If Harry allowed her to live here, she might just make this place her new home. It was actually only her second time there, but she decided that it would be her new favourite place.

She mindlinked Harry for permission, "Alpha, can Hikari, Korū and I have access to the guns and stuff?" She and received a deep sigh from the other end. "I'm going bankrupt, aren't I? Tell me I'm not." Came the tired reply.

"No can do, Alpha. I'll take that as a yes." Alina said cheerfully. "Thanks."

She walked to the door and entered another code, bouncing a little on her heels, just as the first door opened, revealing Linda, John, and Cayne.

"What the hell?" Linda asked, John shaking his head beside her, laughing. Cayne was looking around in awe. How come his pack didn't have this?

"This is supposed to be a peaceful mission. I'm not even sure if there's gonna be any fights."

"But Linda!" Alina whined, wanting to get her hands on some good stuff. Most of her own were locked away in Sabrecrest.

"No. I'm only allowing some very low key stuff. Two knives and a sword, max. You can save the big guns for when we actually need to go after people. Korū, put the bow back. There's no way we can do anything peaceful armed like that. You can keep your own weapons in the lockers we have there."

Alina grumbled. "You're no fun."

"I promise I won't stop you when we actually go after those bitches, but for now we're going to find out how to break a curse."

Korū reluctantly put the bow and arrows back without arguing.

"Dang, I need more ammo though," Hikari sighed, examining her pistol.

Linda sighed. "We'll get you that when you need it. For now, just leave it in the locker."

Alina glanced at the wall Linda had nodded at. "The what now?"

Linda grinned at her. "Bethany was super enthusiastic."

Alina nodded, "I know, but I didn't imagine we'd have personal storage spaces."

"Here's where everyone keeps their personal stuff if they can't or don't want to keep them in their house." Linda walked to a small section of empty wall and placed her hand against a hidden scanner, and the wall, apparently a door, shifted. The thing was, the seams were hidden because one side stretched behind a shelf, while one ended in a corner. The aesthetic of the room totally hid it.

Alina whistled. "Sweet. Did she design the entire place herself?"

"Yeah," John replied. "The two of them really left a legacy behind."

Korū stared at the newly revealed room, "I'm not leaving my stuff behind."

Hikari was literally hugging her pistol.

"Guys. It's safe. You babies will be safe. You'll have a super cool locker with your own code and handprint. You can have more weapons than you can carry and still have them in a safe place." Linda persuaded.

"NOPE," the twins said at the same time. "HELL NO."

"Can you tell me why?" Linda asked, slightly exasperated. She would never admit that the only reason she did use her locker was because the other option was lugging a sniper rifle, and assault rifle, two handguns, a pair of swords, a pair of combat knives, a dagger, brass knuckles, her bow and arrows, nunchaku, and a few other weapons around. She was proud that she had bought all of them herself over the years. It was safe to say that the lockers she was talking about weren't the size of typical lockers that you would normally think about.

All of them were way too attached to their weapons, weren't they?

Hikari lifted the pistol. "Don't ask."

Linda squinted at Hikari. "I think I am."

Korū tried to wrestle the gun from Hikari's hands. "Seriously, unless you want to get shot in the head, don't ask. It's not a threat from me- OH MY FUCKING GOD PUT DOWN THE DAMN GUN."

Linda shook her head slightly, before reaching out to the side and rapped her knuckles against some thick, black sheets of material. "I probably wouldn't have died."

Alina's eyes widened as she made her way towards the sheets. "Bullet proof?"

Linda nodded, looking amused by Alina's look of awe.

Korū shook his head. "Still." Hikari finally dropped the gun and Korū tucked it safely away from his sister with the other weapons stashed in his jacket.

Linda sighed. "We still have to leave most of our weapons behind. Bringing weapons to get information or negotiate nicely isn't really doing anything in our favour."

John snorted. "Would it help if you see how many precious things she's leaving behind?"

"Nope." Korū was still being stubborn as usual. "I'm not gonna openly carry weapons apart from this," he gestured at the katana, "and my sister doesn't have her gun so it's gonna be fine."

Linda sighed. "You know they have detecting spells right?"

"Yeah, it would probably be risky." Alina muttered, conceding.

"Tch, fine, I'll drop them off in Japan," he conceded reluctantly. "But I'm keeping the katana." There was absolutely no getting him to leave that behind.

"Alright. Hikari? Only the pistol." Linda said, slightly exasperated. "Cayne? What do you have?"

"Hmm, two knives." He replied. "I considered not bringing any at all, but that's a bit too risky."

"I've got a knife in my boot. That's all." Alina said.

"I'm keeping the damn thing," Korū growled at Hikari as she reached for it. "You're fucking crazy."

Hikari was still smiling, which was pretty chilling. Korū made a mental note to attempt to talk to her later on.
