The sky was covered in pink and orange hue as the sun set slowly for the day.
Two black carriages rolled through the street where people were busy setting up stalls and decors for their own street party. Knights surrounded the carriages in their black uniforms as if telling everyone they are as noble as the people they were serving.
On the carriages was the emblem with a crescent moon with a sword. The people who saw the emblem all stopped and bowed their heads. They looked at the carriage with respect and pride as it pass by them.
In the second carriage, Athy parted the curtains slightly as she looked at the busy people outside. Her eyes shone with excitement as she saw the festive decors.
"Can we really not join in the celebration here and not at the royal palace?" Athy asked for the fifth time today as she looked longingly outside.
"That's not possible." Uriel answered her as she herself peeked outside. "We need to be at the royal palace for the royal show. We can't disappoint the idiots sitting there now, can we?"
Athy sighed heavily and leaned back on her chair pouting.
"If we finish early, we can leave the banquet." I tried to placate my youngest sister after seeing her being pouty. "We can walk around and enjoy the celebration then."
It would be bad if we went to the banquet with her in a bad mood. She might sabotage and insult everyone that may come her way.
Hearing what I said, Athy's face brightened up and she nodded excitedly.
"Hopefully, everything will go smoothly, then we will have time to enjoy all those things outside." Uriel said as she closed her curtain.
Both of my sisters really wanted to join the commoners celebrations. It was like a street party where the entire main streets of the royal capital were lined with assorted stalls. There were stalls that sells different street foods, there were accessories for sale laid on tables, fabrics and toys too.
It was also announced that there would be a play, a small circus and other entertainers. There were also rumors of a mermaid singer coming. All these made my sisters want to skip the royal banquet and spend the night walking the streets.
We reached the palace gates and immediately saw the line of carriages leading to the front doors. Different emblems of noble houses could be seen and one could easily tell the status of each house by their carriage.
"That's a pretty insignia." Uriel said pointing at a carriage far from ours.
"Hmm?" I squinted my eyes to see the lily emblem on it. "Lily? That's Baron Arciel's emblem, right?"
"Yep." Uriel nodded. "It's really pretty to look at."
We talked about the facts about Baron Arciel that we know. Starting from that, we talked about other houses until a knock on the door made us all stop.
"My ladies, we have arrived." Loki announced.
I took a look at both of my sisters and made sure we were all presentable before opening the door and getting down the carriage.
The people who saw us, both commoners and nobles, bowed in curtsy. Besides the royal family, no one has a higher status than us.
We entered the palace and as the herald announced our arrival, everyone turned their heads towards us. They looked at us as if we were heroes, save for some people.
Father and mother immediately became busy entertaining other nobles who wished to greet them or introduce themselves to our parents. Father looked dashing as he held our mother to his side. We did not even greet the royals who were sitting on their thrones.
Seeing as we were blatantly ignoring them, the crown prince made his move by approaching us with a dashing smile.
"Incoming." Uriel warned us in our heads.
A few moments before the crown prince reached where we were standing.
"Good evening ladies." The crown prince greeted with a smile.
Athy gave him the side glance and 'tsked' before turning to her heels and walking away. I just blatantly ignored him.
The prince's smiled turned awkward.
"Good evening, your highness." Uriel greeted him with her own dashing smile.
He looked at Uriel and smiled at her gratefully. What he does not know was that Uriel's smile was merely superficial.
"I heard that there are delegates from other kingdoms here tonight." Uriel said as she tried to subtly look around.
The crown prince glanced at me who was still trying to act like he did not exist before turning back to Uriel with a somewhat prideful look.
"There are indeed some guests tonight from other kingdoms, my lady. Would you like me to introduce you to them?" He invited Uriel. "You would definitely find them unique."
Uriel looked at him like an excited girl and shyly nodded making the prince smile.
What he did not know was that I took notice of his calculating smile before he led Uriel away.
"Lady Melody?" I heard a soft voice call my name before seeing a beautiful caramel colored girl walking beside a young man.
