Chereads / Daughters of House Castellan / Chapter 188 - Chapter 188

Chapter 188 - Chapter 188

We found Athy and Uriel with the knights who were cleaning up the corpses. When they saw us, they quickly ran to my side and questioned about what happened. We explained everything in detail, what Kamarius said and how 'Dusk' killed him.

"So you are telling me that like Karciel, Kamarius was also done in by that beautiful demon?" Athy said and I nodded.

"And you did not even get to do anything against it?" She asked again.

"I tried to attack him but I only managed to graze his face." I sighed. "That demon was no weakling. If any of you ever get to face him, do not fight one on one. If possible, refrain from fighting with it without the generals."

The knights looked at each other and swallowed hard.

"Even you, Klent." I warned the captain.

Klent clenched his jaw and gave me a stiff nod.

I know he was strong, not as strong as the generals but stronger than most knights. I was not belittling him or his abilities, if anything, I was trying not to cause them injuries by underestimating the enemy.

After my explanation, I left the cleaning up to Uriel. I informed her of the corpses and the poison which she would need Elaheh's help with. When I was done, I went to meet with the heads of the house that were on a meeting.

"If you can, we would appreciate it if you could keep my younger daughters abilities to yourselves." I heard father say from inside the tent.

"If you don't keep your mouths shut about my sisters, we could shut it for you." I said as I walked in and stood beside my father. "We have more than enough ways to do so."

Seeing me alive and well, the people there started to whisper to each other. They were sitting in chairs lined on each side while father was sitting alone like the head. Father looked happy seeing me but I just winked at him and patted his back.

"Keeping my sisters abilities that you saw as a secret is up to you. We won't beg for you to keep it, but we would appreciate it if you do." I continued as I looked at everyone there. "But keep in mind that we also want to keep it a secret and would do anything in our power to do so. I hope you understand."

The people there looked at me like they were debating whether they should keep it a secret or not.

"House Salvatore will keep everything regarding your sisters' true abilities a secret. You saved us and our families from a certain death. It is the only way we could show you our gratitude." The head of house Salvatore spoke up. He was a stoic man with silver hair like us. He could definitely pass as our uncle with his silver hair and handsome features.

"The same goes for the Houses of Brouette, my lady." A handsome man stood up and gave us a slight bow. "We can't thank you enough for coming to our rescue and saving us."

Seeing the men who ranked higher than them gave their words to keep everything about my sisters' abilities as secrets, the other nobles also followed suit. Everyone there had given their words to keep the secret.

"Thank you." I smiled at them.

"Ehem." An older man clear his throat rather loudly as if trying to catch our attention.

"Yes?" I looked at him and tilted my head. "Count Serviel?"

Count Serviel, like Count Polit also came from a knights family and his sons were both excellent knights. Unfortunately, they never came back after an exhibition with the first prince two years ago. He was never given a proper explanation and was only told they were attacked and killed by demon beasts then. Count Serviel never trusted the royal family after that and had withdrawn his support secretly.

Well, we could clearly see now that his withdrawal was not as secret as he thought.

"My lady, if I may ask, is the youngest lady a necromancer?" He asked cautiously causing the others mumble the same question.

"No." I answered flatly without needing any time to think about it. "Athy is not a necromancer."

They all looked at me in a somewhat doubtful and expectant look, waiting for me to explain.

"A necromancer uses physical bodies that they control, like puppets on a string." I tried to explain as simply as I could. "But as you saw, Athy's ability is just summoning. She can summon spirits to help her and do her bidding."

The men looked at each other.

"Those things indeed do not have physical bodies." Another older man spoke up. "I saw them getting sliced and hit but they would only resurrect. Attacks do not have any lasting effects on them. After destroying one, it would return from the shadows like new."

His eyes went wide with excitement as he explained what he saw. The others also joined in with their own experiences.

"Does it explain everything now?" I asked them after they settled down again.

"But, lord Castellan, why do you wish to hide your daughter's abilities?" Count Serviel asked. "Isn't it something to boast about? Someone could actually summon spirits to fight. That would make your house invisible!"

Another round of murmured agreement came about.

"That is exactly what we are trying to hide, Count." Father shook his head lightly. "If the king or any other country knows of my family's abilities, do you think they will sit still knowing we have enough power to overthrow all of them?"

Everyone went quiet.

"With how our brother is, he will sure find a way to either take her alive on their side, or take her down." Duke Brouette said in a solemn tone.

"The other nations will be very wary of us." Duke Salvatore added. "They might even use war to try and take her."

"Not just her." The younger Duke Brouette said looking pointedly at me.

"As you can see, my entire family is a walking target for catastrophe." Father sighed. "That is why it would be better to keep everything a secret until they can all master their abilities."

"By then, a new era will begin." I added. "And we could use some helping hands for it."

"My lady, are you..?" The older Duke Brouette stood up from his chair as well as some other men. They looked at me like I was someone crazy.

I looked at them unemotionaly and replied..

"Yes, I am."
