I was bewildered at her question.
Do I know what is in the Red street?
Isn't it like Las Vegas? Casino, bars, exotic dancers. Sin city and all?
"It's the Red light district of Westreon city. People got there to enjoy themselves in a different way." I answered, perplexed by the question.
The three glanced at each other awkwardly again.
"My lady, Red street is not only that." Madam Shalit clasped both of her hands in front of her. "It is also a place where the poorest of the city lives. There are people there willing to sell their children just to make money. Women would sell their bodies without question if they could get money. It is a place filled with filth and I don't-"
"And you don't think I should take a step anywhere near it?" I finished her sentence.
Madam Shalit looked and me worriedly before nodding.
"Yes, my lady." She replied.
"There is nothing to worry about it." I sighed. "The knights have cleared the place and I would still need to go there for a check. If it really is dangerous, I would also need to clean it up as that is my role as a Castellan. My youngest sister would also need to check the place, I have to clean it before she does or all the underworld would break loose."
"T-the youngest lady? Y-you mean L-lady Athy is going there too?" Madam Shalit held her hand close to her chest.
"yes." I nodded. "It is my job to ensure that the place is safe and it will be Athy's job to improve the place and the lives of the people in that area. This is our responsibility to our people as the Daughters of House Castellan."
Madam Shalit hung her head.
"I understand, my lady." She said and looked at me. "But please take care of yourself while you are there."
I smiled at her and nodded.
"I know." I answered.
We bid goodbye to the Shalit couple and went into the carriage. It was all black and has the symbol of House Castellan engraved on all sides. The inside was spacious and the seats were all soft and lined with the best materials.
As we were travelling to the Red street, I noticed that Miss Bloom had an anxious expression on her face.
"Do you regret it?" I asked her out of nowhere.
"Regret what, my lady?" She asked, startled.
"Turning against the person you loved." I said casually. I was actually intrigued about how she felt knowing that the person she once loved is now a captive through her help.
Miss Bloom tilted her head and thought for a moment.
"I am not regretting it as I know that I do not really love him." She answered calmly.
"You were with him for some time though?" I raised my brow at her and leaned back on my seat. "Didn't you feel even a bit of love for him?"
"I don't." She answered with a light shake of her head. "I was never in love with him. I just stayed because he was able to protect me, give me what I want and a place to stay. But he was also just using me, and I also know of it. He needed my ability to keep his operations running. You could say that I was the manager of all his businesses. I know everything about those things, way more than he does."
"He made a huge mistake of firing you from your position then." I replied with a cold smile.
"He did." She smiled but her eyes were vicious. "And he paid the price for it. He will now lose everything he has. He will now feel how it feels to be thrown aside too."
I nodded. I will see if what she is saying is true when she sees him there, but I can already tell that she is reliable.
"But, my lady." Miss Bloom looked hesitant to ask me something.
"What is it?" I urged her.
"I know that Karciel's businesses are all illegal, but most people in the Red street earns money from those businesses. What would happen to them?" She asked consciously.
"My job is to secure the safety of the place and the people after that is Athy's job." I looked at her. "Don't worry too much, we will not leave the people there to starve. I bet Athy already has a plan for it."
"But lady Athanasia is still too young to go to a place as filthy as the Red Street." Miss Bloom spoke in a doubtful tone.
"Do not underestimate Athy." I smiled at her confidently. "That girl is more than just her age."
Miss Bloom was startled at what I said. She looked at me confusedly.
The carriage stopped and the doors were opened by the knights.
"Greetings, eldest lady." The ginger knight greeted after he opened the door. He assisted us down the carriage and guided us into the underground hall where Klent was busy commanding the knights.
"Commander Klent." I called out.
The knights all turned around to see me before bowing down. I motioned for them to continue what they were doing while Klent approached us.
"Are all those people dead?" I asked him when he arrived in front of me.
"Oh no, my lady." Klent answered while raising his hands and shaking his head profusely. "Those people are just asleep from Miss Elaheh's sleeping potion."
"I see." I nodded as I scanned the place with my eyes. "Where are Seb and Haktor?"
"They are further inside, my lady." Klent answered.
"Okay. Continue what you are doing here and we'll go check them out." I patted him on the arm since his shoulders were too high for me and walked on with Miss Bloom guiding.
We went thought a long hallway and remnants of fighting were clear. I saw blood on the floor but no bodies, so I assumed that the enemy either surrendered or by any trace of luck ran away from the two.
We saw a room with an open door further ahead. An unusual smell was coming off from it the closer we got. When we arrived, the first thing that caught my attention ware the dead bodies on the floor.
"Well, isn't this disappointing." I spoke in a languid tone.
