Chereads / Daughters of House Castellan / Chapter 79 - Chapter 79

Chapter 79 - Chapter 79

The blue haired man slowly stood up and dusted himself nonchalantly. His long and unkempt hair was covering his face. He was only wearing a pair of white pants and a white long sleeved undershirt.

"What does the lady want to have come and look for this lunatic?" A soft, calm voice asked.

He combed his hair away from his face using his hand as he faced me. Blue eyes with specks of green like the deep calm ocean stared back at me. His skin was as pale as sheet and he was thin like a noble lady. His white outfit paired with his pale skin made his eyes and hair more attractive. Looking at him made me think of the beach, blue waters on a blue cloudy sky.

His appearance and the way he spoke made it clear that he was of noble birth. His house is a different story though.

"I heard you were a genius and not a lunatic." I spoke in an unemotional tone. "I even came here to see just how smart you are to be praised highly by my people."

"I was once indeed called a genius." He smiled passionless. "But not anymore. Haven't you heard that I have turned crazy from being too smart? Didn't you hear that the snake with the crown pressured my family into kicking me out? I am already branded with the word crazy and even titled as 'The lunatic of Enin'."

"So I've heard." I stared at him without an ounce of care. "But I don't believe in rumors you see."

His blue eyes stared at me. Evaluating. Calculating.

"Tell me Sir Klaus, have you actually gone insane?" I stared at him without any curiosity. Telling him with just my eyes, 'I already know the answer, I just want yours.'

"Those were all lies." He stated flatly, his eyes never leaving mine.

"Oh?" I smiled. "Pray tell, what is the truth behind all those rumors and you being in this desolate villa."

Klaus took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

"Why would you want to know, young lady?" He asked with his eyes still closed.

"Because I want you to be my advisor, but I want to know you first." I replied which stunned Klaus.

I motioned for Sebastiene to get another chair for Klaus.

Sebastiene brought out a chair, the same as the one I was sitting and placed it near Klaus. I motioned for him to sit and he did so gracefully.

"Why would a Castellan want to hire me as their advisor?" He asked still slightly baffled.

"Like I said, my people praised your knowledge, and I am in need of an advisor."

"Apologies, young lady, but-"

"Just tell me what happened to you frst and we'll talk about the other things after." I cut him off.

Klaus looked around at the people with me, the village head, the butler who just dragged him here, A gallant knight and then at Marionne. His eyes went wide when he saw her who stood gazing at him coldly.

"To have the Lady of House Fuego as your guard," He turned to me, "you must be quite something, young lady."

"Marionne is a General of the Knights of Noktis, not a guard." I glared at him. "Mind your words, I do not take kindly to insults toward one of ours."

Taken aback by my glare, he swallowed hard and nodded before he straightened himself on the seat.

"I am Klaus Enin, second son of House Enin." He started. "I was born in a house filled with scholars and geniuses. You can even say that being smart is in our blood. I was praised by my teachers as a genius, not only in books but also with my ability and swordsmanship. I became quite well-known in the social circles and not to brag, had many people aiming for my attention. Many noblemen tried to let their daughters approach me and many boys my age wanted to be my friend. My father was praised by everyone for having a son who is a genius."

He sighed before continuing.

"Because of how fast I was gaining attention, the king made me the youngest advisor at the age of ten. Everything went well for five years and I helped with military tactics and formation, which I find is the most enjoyable for me. When I was fifteen, I met the king's concubine, Lady Joi Mackeny Larven, a princess from another kingdom. I returned her handkerchief that was blown by the wind. I did not take any notice of her after that as I do not stay that mush in the castle. Unbeknownst to me, after our first encounter, she had developed a crush on me that turned into an obsession."

"One day, her obsession made her do the stupidest thing, coming to my office at night."

"When I am in the palace, I would often stay in my office until late at night. She took that opportunity one day and tried to make advances on me. I declined her offer, of course, but she went full on crazy and started screaming and ripping her dress."

"The guards came and also the king who ordered to know what happened. Lady Joi, told lies about how I tried to take advantage of her and of course, the king did not believe her as I was still young. But the thing is, the king had a lot of pride and cannot accept someone as young and as achieved as me to be in the palace, so he labeled me as insane and threw me out to save his pride."

"After that, those that once wanted to be close to me now laughs not at my back, but right in front of me. Those noble ladies who ran after me, now pushes me away in disgust. The friends I once helped turned away from me. Even my family was implicated. All because I was a genius that no one could understand, I had turned crazy. I had to hide here away from the eyes of everyone on the king's orders."

I stared at the handsome man in front of me.

"And you will let it go just like that?" I asked, unsympathetic.

"What can a mere count's family do?" His smile did not reach his eyes.

"Then what about the Archduke's family?" I smiled coldly.
