Chapter 9 - Chapter 6

Having realized my grave error of teasing a nobleman, I immediately jumped out of the seat I'm on, and assumed a kneeling pose, while hanging my head down low.

" Please forgive my transgressions against you within the duration of your travels, if it ever pleases you, I shall offer my head as an apology. ". I said, coldly.

" Huh?! What are you doing?! Please raise your head! I absolutely did not take offense in any of your actions! Don't say anything ominous like that! ". Luke- I mean, Lukas said. Panicked.

" Truly, you are the most magnanimous man to ever exist. To even spare this, rude, uneducated commoner like myself for his actions. I shall be eternally grateful. ". I said. Obviously changing my attitude. Still kneeling.

" Noo! Talk to me like you always do! I don't like people with two faces! Don't do this to me.. ". Lukas retorted. Seemingly down.

I raised my face and said. " You won't hang me or chop my head off or anything? ".

" Of course not! Who do you think I am?! I'm not a tyrant! " Lukas said.

Relieved, I audibly muttered. " Oh thank god. ".

" And.. Continue to call me Luke. And don't ever change your attitude towards me just because I am of noble blood. Okay? " Luke asked.

" Okay, I understand. ". I said.

" Great. Let's be friends from now on. ".

" Yeah. Okay. ". I said, shaking his hand, with a bright smile.

Just as I was about to let go of his hand, an old looking man came inside, wearing a black tailcoat with a dark crimson colored vest underneath the coat, wearing a black butterfly tie, he completely looked like a perfect butler, he saw Luke and I, and said

" Oh my, to think that the Young Master would take up a maiden during his journeys. ". He said.

" N-no! It's different! You're misunderstanding, Maxim! He's my saviour! His name is Evan! He is definitely NOT a maiden! ". Luke retorted.

" Oh my, is that so? Then I apologise, dear sir. Let me introduce myself, my name is Maximilian Esther. The head servant of the Draculesti Count family. It is a pleasure to meet you. ". The butler. Maxim, said, with a graceful bow.

Not to be rude, I also introduced myself.

" Nice to meet you, sir Maximilian, I am Evan Myers, call me Evan. " I said.

" Are you guys done? I can't wait to get home and take a proper bath after a long time. " Luke said. Impatient.

" Of course, the carriage is outside. Your Father is eager to see you, Young Master, it seems you have a lot to talk about with him. ". Maxim said.

" Ugh.. I understand. " Luke groaned.

With that, I followed the two silently. And, parked outside was a conspicuously grand looking carriage, it looks like what a royal would have in their stables. I am speechless. Such splendour. It was probably longer than a car back on Earth. It was drawn by four, magnificent horses. The carriage has intricate, golden details all over it's ivory colored exterior. ⟨ Lord Draculesti must be rich. ⟩. I rudely thought.

The butler Maxim helped Luke aboard, then helped me, before getting in himself. The door was then gently closed by the coachman with a gratifying click. The interior of the carriage was ivory colored, just like the exterior, with brown carpeting and a light blue headliner that was made of what looks like velour. Also, the interior was surprisingly minimalistic, but by no means is it cheap looking. With soft, cushy sofa-like seats, made of high quality wool, able to accommodate four people, facing each other.

Then, the carriage moves onward. On the way, Luke told everything that happened to Maxim, to which he responded with " Is that so? ". Luke seems underwhelmed by Maxim's response. But, having heard that I was Luke's savior, Maxim kept his gaze fixated on me. He's probably pretty interested in me and my identity. It's natural though, after all, I'm a vagrant that came out of nowhere without a clear background. I must seem pretty suspicious.

In order to distract myself from Maxim's intent gaze, I looked out of the window, outside, I can see houses and businesses with people crowding the street. There are the regular humans, there are fantasy-like, beautiful Elven people. there were short, sturdy looking people, probably Dwarves. There are tall people with animalistic ears and tails. There are people who look like lizards who walk on two legs. And everything else in between. It seems there's no discrimination in this city, which is good. And, among all of these people, there is a huge presence of soldiers and knights, it seems like there really is a numerous amount of military manpower garrissoned here in Vansborough.

After a while, we arrived at the Lord's residence. The front gate was imposingly tall. It looked like it was Impenetrable, ready to repel anyone who dares intrude upon the Lord's realm. The gate doors, however, were wide open. With two knight-like looking people were standing guard. They were equipped head to toe with full plate armor, wielding a halberd. They were quite tall and intimidating. The knights saluted at the carriage we were in. Beyond the gate, there is a smooth stone path leading to the castle palace hybrid. There are beautiful pristine gardens on each side of the path with a plethora of plants and flowers that comes in a variety of shapes and colors.

The carriage finally stops in front of the estate, there, several people who looked like servants were present on the stairs leading to the big, sturdy front door. The palace was a four story red brick building, with a Victorian style, literally Victorian, not the modern Victorian style. And right behind it stands an imposing castle, taller than the estate, I guess at peace time the Lord will reside at the palace, while at wartime, the Lord would reside at the castle with his family for safety.. I think this solution is kind of odd, because if you want to live luxuriously, but also want to be safe from any danger, just live in a castle with a palace interior?? No need for two separate buildings?? But that's just my opinion.

The carriage door was opened by the coachman, and Maxim stepped out first, then Luke stepped out, then I stepped out last. Then, a girl who looked like she was probably 10 years old came rushing towards Luke, then dived right into his chest with a hug.

" Big brother Luke! I have missed you, you know? Mother and I were worried sick! ". The girl said, she sports Long, slightly curly, blonde hair and Shiny Blue eyes that looked like glimmering sapphires. Her face was undoubtedly cute, she was wearing a cute, frilly light yellow, gothic Victorian dress.

" Hahaha~ I'm sorry if I worried you, Alicia. ". Luke apologized to the girl.

" Muu~ You better not do that again okay? ". The girl, Alicia, said while pouting.

" All right I won't do that again. ". Luke answered.

" Promise? ".

" Promise. ".

Having noticed my presence, Alicia turned to me and asked. " Big brother? Who is that? ". To Luke.

" Oh, him? He's my benefactor. He saved me in the Forest. His name is Evan. ". Luke said.

" Nice to meet you, I am Evan Myers, call me Evan. ". I introduced myself while bowing.

" Evan? I thought you were a girl~ I'm Alicia Vesner, nice to meet you~ ". Alicia said.

After that pleasant exchange. Suddenly, the temperature dropped, and the atmosphere became heavy, when, a voice said.

" My oh my~ Now where have YOU been? My son? ". The voice was filled with a gravity and pressure I've never felt before. When I turned to see who it was, there stood a beautiful, slender woman, with the same blonde hair and blue eyes as Alicia.

Luke slowly turns his head towards the woman and gulped, before muttering.

" M-mother.. I'm back~ ". He said, weakly.
