Spring Formal:
You picked me up from my house at 8:00 and told me, "I'm so lucky to have you," and yet neither of us knew that tonight was the last night we would ever be together. Halfway into Prom, you said you were gonna get us drinks, but you never came back.
I saw your best friend Dave and I walked over to him and asked, "David, have you seen Luke anywhere, he said he was gonna get us drinks and then he didn't come back, it's been over 15 minutes now, " I laugh nervously, hoping he would tell me where you were. I wasn't prepared at all for what he said to me next, "Wait you're his date?" he asked his eyebrows raised.
"Yeah, why," I laughed, "I don't think I should be telling you this but he said he was going with Sloane to the dance, " he shrugs and he takes another sip of his drink, "Wait, what!" I exclaimed in shock, "No, you've got to be shitting with me right now," I continued, refusing to believe it, "Dude, I wouldn't lie to you, he said he was gonna pick her up at 9 and I saw him leave a few minutes ago," He replied walking off to go join his friends.
I walked over to where you should've been. And got me a drink, I had so many that night before I finally realized that it had been spiked. I was drunk, but I was still angry.
I paced up and down at the entrance and I waited. I couldn't wait to grab you and slam you into the wall. It made me think that maybe you were playing me the entire time. Maybe all those times you said you were busy and that you'd "make it up to me" you were hanging out with her. I trusted you, and look where that had got me. I promised myself that after I embarrassed you, I would never ever want to see you again.
As I suspected I saw your car pull up in the driveway and I walked towards it, I took off my heels and threw them onto your car. You came out and looked at me, and by your face, I could tell you already knew, "Payton, um," you began, but I didn't want to hear it, "Where is she," I growled and with that she immediately came out, "Oh you have got to be kidding me, " she laughed, turns out you hadn't told her either, you were playing the both of us. She had the decency to apologize, yet it wasn't even her fault.
I left the parking lot, barefoot, and walked home. The second I got home my mom took one look at me and hugged me so tight that it made me feel worse. The next few days at school, we were everything anyone talked about. Sloane smiled at me in the hallways, my friends had totally turned against me. You probably told them some farkakte story to cover up what you did. Dave was the only one who stood by me as the day of my departure drew near. I told myself countless times that I couldn't just leave town because of a breakup, but I reminded myself that sometimes things don't work out for you, you have to pick up the pieces and start again.
