Olivia was washed and scrubbed clean, and doused in all of her crevices in a vanilla scented oil. Her hair was pulled back into a dutch braid, the top and bottom braid clasped with either matching butterfly hair pin. The blue dress fit tightly around her waist, and dropped just to her ankles. It left open a view of a pair of royal blue flats. The chained necklace dropped just to Olivia's waist, giving her something to fiddle with nervously.
After she was dressed properly, Olivia was guided down the hall towards the King's room. She didn't know what to expect from this meeting. Though, she was hoping it had something to do with her present situation in memory. She passed the entry hall, glancing over at Kim's onyx eyes, before they reached another archway leading into a hall. Further down the hall was another tower, it's use glossed over by Elena as an armory. Olivia stared it down, curiosity enveloping her mind. She needed to explore the castle thoroughly, but she still wasn't sure of where she was even allowed. Olivia glanced out the windows as they walked.
The large windows pointed into arches, much like the rest of the framework in the castle. The view on the outside was of the large lake that surrounded the city. Beyond it was the forest. Olivia thought back to the very first day she woke up here. It felt ages ago, but really it'd barely been a week. She blew a raspberry, her eyes scanning out over the water. It shimmered in the light, and as Olivia's eyes focused more she could see in the distance a smaller island, and a house. She giggled, but cut her confused laughter short when Elena looked back at her in question.
She tried to discern what the island was for, but other than the house, she couldn't see anything else. Then, suddenly, Olivia was standing in front of a door. A guard stood on either side, stopping Elena and Olivia from entering. They were dressed in steel armor, but lacked any of the nice embroidery or capes that they knights had. They also seemed to lack any knowledge of the two in front of them, as the one on the left stepped forward and pushed Elena back.
"Strict orders, no one enters." He said gruffly. Elena huffed, and folded her arms together. It was apparent they were of some sort of similar station, or else Olivia was sure she wouldn't have reacted so boldly.
"We have a meetin-" Elena said, attempting to push past him. He pushed her back into Olivia.
"No one enters. I'm not gettin in trouble cause you don't listen Elena." The guard said. Olivia helped steady Elena, and looked at the guards crossly. It seemed they just noticed her.
"Roughing up my handmaiden will get you into a great deal of trouble." She said, flipping her hair over her shoulder, "The king asked for me, and so I've come. Will I have to tell him about your thoughts on his wishes?" The guards' eyes widened, and the one who'd just pushed Elena stepped out of their way.
"I'm sorry, my lady. We've never seen you enter the King's chambers before." The other guard said, opening the door to allow Elena and herself through. Olivia huffed, letting out a confounded laugh.
"I should think not, as I've never been in His Majesty's chambers." She said indignantly, throwing her chin up as she walked further into the room. It was separated into two, and the one Olivia was standing in was a dining/sitting room. It was empty, but beyond a brass door Olivia could hear women giggling and moaning.
"Are you new?" The guard asked, and Olivia flushed a bright pink at the realization of what her visit appeared to seem like. She laughed nervously, whipping around to the guards.
"I am NOT a concubine, if that is what the two of you are so brazenly insinuating!" Olivia shouted, "Now close the door! I have business with the King!" The two guards stared confusedly at her, before closing the door. The giggles from the other room had stopped, and the blush on Olivia's face set in deeper. She felt a knot in her throat, growing warmer by the minute. She needed an escape. She swallowed her instinct to storm from the room, and instead took a seat on one of the couches.
"We should wait for his highness before taking a se-" Elena said. Olivia shot her hand up, cutting her off.
"I will sit while I wait, thank you." Her eyes squeezed closed. The brass door opened, and a group of girls dressed in flowing, silk robes came out of the room. Every part of their skin was visible beneath the fabric, but they didn't seem to care as they threw open the chamber doors and exited into the hallway. Olivia cleared her throat, her eyes drifting over to the king. He was dressed down to a pair of satin pants, strands of hair matted down to his forehead in sweat. Olivia shuddered, wrapping her arms around her stomach and biting down another heated blush.
"Lady Olivia…I wasn't expecting you so early." He said, his eyes drifting over to Elena, prepared to place blame on her. Olivia smiled wryly, standing from her seat.
"I believe this was the time your messenger gave Elena? It must've been some miscommunication on your end." Olivia said. Elena's eyes shot back at her in shock.
"My end?" The King asked, amused at her choice of words.
"That is, your servant's comprehension." Olivia didn't know why she felt like trying his patience, but she did. It seemed to work, but only for a second before King Daniel chuckled and walked fully into the dining room. He shut the brass door behind him, and walked dramatically over to the couch Olivia had previously been sitting on. She scurried out of his way, and he sat down smoothly, throwing one leg over the other. He stretched his arms out over the back of the couch, and Olivia hesitantly took her seat. Another test of his nerves.
"You..you had news for me." Olivia said after a beat of silence between the two. King Daniel laughed and nodded, running his fingers through his hair.
"Yes, news that could've waited until after I was finished." Olivia blushed again, and cleared her throat.
"Sorry. Can I just hear the news...and then I can leave?" She asked. King Daniel hummed, and waved Elena off. She was hesitant to leave, but eventually did.
"The news is private. Your ears only." He said, leaning forward to grab an opened letter off of the table, "Well, your eyes only, but I will read it for you. I promise only I've seen the letter." Olivia opened her mouth, and then shut it again. She almost outed herself to the king...the king! Instead, she nodded and turned to face him. He glanced up at her, and then pulled out the letter, flipping it open. He cleared his throat and began to read.
"Dear, Olivia Patterson,
Over the past few days, our Elder has announced he has felt your presence in our world. We've made several attempts to find you, to contact you in some way, but all have failed. This is why we've had to reach out in such interceptible means. We have yet to uncover why your presence has gone so long unfelt or unknown by our Elder, but we still view you as kin to us.
As is with all those with the blood of the dragon, you must travel to our city Baltasara and meet with our High Elder Cain. This can only be done with a great amount of skill, as the road is dangerous, and the climb is high. We request the earliest you begin your travels is in the next three years.
We expect to see you soon,
Junior Council Member, Danen."
King Daniel finished talking, and folded the letter closed. He leaned forward to lay it back on the table. Olivia blinked slowly, taking a moment to absorb and process the letter in her head. She wished she could've read it herself.
"Looks like you're stuck with us for a while."
