Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The tred up the mountain

Io Silas POV

I walk towards the gate where a guard stood. The gatekeeper says while pointing a sword at me, "What buisness do you have here. Do you have an identification card."

I could understand why they would be suspicious, I was wearing a black cloak that covered my face. I remove it look towards the man. "I do not have an identification card on me. I have been living in the woods so I don't currently have one."

The sword that he was holding comes closer to my neck. I calmly lower his sword and look at him in the eyes. "Then how can I trust you. This village is poor and is isolated from the large cities."

Well this is quite annoying to deal with. I can't tell them my real identity, they probably wouldn't even believe me. An old man starts approaching us, I assume he is the village chief as he is carrying a cane that is engraved with an emblem. Each village chief has a cane like this.

The elderly man strokes his beard and turn towards me. "Hello young man, I assume you want to visit our humble village. You may come in." The guard looks at him in disbelief. "How can you trust this man who you don't even know."

"Trust me on this, this is a man you can trust." The chief says and turns around signaling for me to follow him. I trail quietly behind him. I interrupt the silence and ask "How do you know I am someone you can trust. All you could know is that I will harm you people."

The old man chuckles loudly, "I am not that old that I can't tell you are extremely strong. I can sense the strong spiritual mana around you. If you wanted to harm my people you could have easily infiltrated this village that has one measly guard and kill them with ease."

"You have quite the keen eye. Even though I concealed mana you could still detect it. You must be quite skillful in magic." I tell him. "I am just your ordinary old man. I just have a little more knowledge and have seen many things through the years."

We soon arrive at a small hut which I believe is his home. The door slowly creaks open. He offers me tea which i gratefully except. I put the tea cup down and turn to the old man who is munching on some sweets.

"Is there a reason you let me in here. I mean a chief wouldn't personally come to help me in person. I can also tell by your facial expression you want to tell me something." He says "You found out so quickly. You seem to have a keener eye then me even though you seem younger. Well there have are some beast that have been disturbing us recently. I wanted to ask for your assistance to investigate for me since I am too old to do so. I will give you award for it."

I get up from the chair I was sitting on, "I shall do it. I won't ask for any reward though as you have graciously let me stay here." He chuckles and says in response "You are quite unusual. You have a kind heart youngster, do not let evil corrupt you."

The corners of my mouth couldn't help but quirk up. With that I got up. The metal chair screached as it grazed the wooden floor. The elder had lent me a chesnut horse to use.

I gratefully accepted. I hoped onto the saddle shifting until I found a comfortable spot. The horse neighed before speeding off towards the serrated mountains that loomed in the distance.

The foot of the mountain was covered in mist. The insidious mist ensnared the crown of the mountain. I gazed up at the rugose and rough-hewn mountains with a sense of awe. It was mysterious, but if you listened closely a low growl could be heard. We trodded through the snow white mist.

As we made our way up the mountain a snow storm started brewing. The snow-hooded mountains was soon encased in a necklace of white. The icy wind brushed against my fair smooth skin. I shivered due to the sudden gust if wind.

A bellowing sound rent the air and a tsunami of snow sluiced down the flank of the mountain. It was coming towards us at a rapid pace. With a swish of my staff time had stopped.

I descended from the horse and landed on the soft snow. It crunched beneath my feet. The chill of the air turned my breath into a puff of soft frost. I had moved the horse, I unfreezed time and let the avalanche fall from the tips of the mountain.

I kept tredding forward on my own as the horse wouldn't be able to withstand the cold. Leo was tucked safely in my shirt.

I continue my trudge up the dnowy mountain until I was before a large cave opening. A low growl could be heard inside. I easily smash the snow like boulders. I assume this is what has been causing the village great trouble.

The cave entrance had sharp large icicles hanging along the top. It was humangous and hollow inside. It was quite the sight to behold. I summoned a fire ball on my left hand to light up the damp, dark and cold cave.

I sauntered through the icy caven, heading towards the loud growl in the distant. Leo pokes its head out of my jacket and peered at its surroundings. I couldn't help but ruffle its fur until it was tangled yarn. My small chuckle resonates throughout the cave.

I see a pair of ruby eyes looking at me somewhere in the dark. It probably isn't a threat to me but I have grown a little rusty. A bright light start to engulf my whole being as I begin chanting.

The beast before me growls angrily and charges towards me. The spell I had casted trapped the beast in a wooden cage.

I find this unusual. Usually beast such who live in such isolated areas wouldn't so hastily attacked me unless they felt as if they were in danger.

I saunter towards the large wooden structure where the monster was trapped. The monster which I recognized as a snow golem looked quite agitated. These beast are quite intelligent so they shouldn't have been so reckless.

I use some calming magic to help snow golem. I approach the golem and start speaking in spirit language, I wanted to know the cause of itsdistress. It seemed to be quite surprise, I could tell by the look in its eyes. We begin conversing.

Basically ehat happen is that a group of hunters wanted to slay the snow golem for the gem possess. There had been a rumor that a golem lived up here and many adventurers were stokes. Why you may ask, the reason was simple. Snow golems are on the verge of extinction.
