Our little town had become disturbingly quiet, there were no traces of little kids running around the streets, the playground had been deserted, even our normal teen hangouts were empty.
Everyone remained indoors...the death toll had gone up by 20 and it didn't look like it would reduce.
After cam and Nurys came back, I didn't really need to visit Parker and Kennedy as frequently as I used to because I was still trying to convince Cam and Nurys that everything that had been happening was legit and very real.
It was the annual school sleep over and I was surprised that it wasn't cancelled by the Elders.. considering the things that had been happening in Bailey falls.
our annual sleepover meant the boys would come to our school and stay the whole day, through the night and leave the next evening.
And we all shared two of our school's biggest halls.
we were allowed to mix with the boys in the hall.... both boys and girls were allowed to use the same hall so I guess I understood why everyone was so psyched about it.
Friday Morning we had all gathered in our meeting hall where we all stood.... well some of us stood and waited for the arrival of the boys.... I saw a group of girls at the far end of our rectangular hall giggling and talking about how much fun they were gonna have with the boys.
I know I said they were at the far end of the hall but I can read lips so I know what they were talking about.
"sup puppy".... Kennedy cooed as she placed her arm across my shoulders.
"You know you're not authorised to call me that"..... I said turning towards Kennedy.
"oh right I forgot... only Cammy and Nurys get to call you that"..... Kennedy replies rolling her eyes.
"Exactly, only "Cammy and Nurys get to call me that" not you".... I say mimicking Kennedy's tone with a pout.
The loud honk of Bailey Boys' high causes us to turn our attention towards our school parking lot..... after a while of no activity in our school's meeting hall, we had all filed out and stood by the balcony of the school building's third floor.
The cold fall wind brushed against my skin making me shiver as I hugged myself even tighter.
"Conrad is one steamy jock"... some girl with her hair pulled into a tight bun with freckles on her face said.
"tell me about it... look at those broad shoulders and perfect height"....another girl with curly hair dark brown hair said giggling.
Conrad was a 6'1 with dark hair and emerald eyes..... just your normal everyday jock nothing special, but apparently every other girl thought otherwise including Parker and Kennedy... I just honestly didn't see what they saw in him to make them all act crazy and stuff.... but I guess that's just my opinion and I'd better keep it to myself cause these girls were willing to kill anyone who didn't agree with them that Conrad was "Hot".
The giggles and whispers of the girls grew louder as the boys flooded our meeting hall.....and All the girls that stood at the balcony raced down the stairs towards the meeting hall.
I waited for everyone to go down first before I started my journey down the stairs...
"Puppy, long time no see"..... Conrad said as a stupid smirk formed across his lips.
"God!! what do you want?" I scoffed as his smirk grew into a full on grin.
I just wanted to smack the grin right off his lips.
God!! how I hated Conrad.
I've hated him since middle school.... after he told everyone I had a crush on his older brother and I got laughed at in school And also his older brother Corey, started avoiding me.
I had internally Sworn to never speak to him again... but the stupid boy couldn't understand that I didn't want anything to do with him.
