Soo-Ha's POV:
Ahh! Darn it! I am really pissed off today! Why did I run into her among all the people in the city? And that even on my first day of job! What a terrible luck I have! But I am so surprised. How can she fake her emotions so naturally? I am damn sure she must have been too happy to see my miserable state. I still regret for loving her as my dear sister... Those fucking murderers!
No, it's my first day of job. I can't ruin my day because of those shitty people who never gave a fuck about me or my family! And why am I even thinking of her? She is already an established heiress now! Thanks to all the money and fame of that malevolent person that her daughter is living a princess life-style! Even if he had helped my dad that time, maybe I would have been leading a comfortable life too... My life would have been completely different from now... Those jerks derserve a cruel death! Even their souls should be ripped apart!
Focus Soo-Ha! Focus! Bury the past and move on! She... is just a stranger to me now! Everything has finished between us! So stop drowning yourself in emotions and accept the reality! I am starting a new life today at my dream job! I have worked so hard for this day!
With this self-encouragement I came walking near my work place. I proudly looked at the main building with a bright smile on my face. Damn! Finally I am here! The place where I have always dreamt to work in-
Han Publications Pvt Ltd...
Damn! I was so nervous for applying for the chief editorial post here! I have given countless interviews in many publication companies, but was rejected in most of them. Though I have done 2 part-time jobs before in small publishing companies for work experience but it's my first full time job and that even I got in my dream company!
Han Publications is the most prestigious publishing platform of Seoul! All the renowned authors are associated with this platform. People usually die to get their books published from this platform and I still can't believe I will be working here from today as a "Chief Editor". But I heard the owner of Han Publications is a dork! Nevermind, all these must be rumors! I am sure he must be a very sharp-minded, sensible, hard working and a very employee-friendly person! Damn! I almost jumped in joy when I got the confirmation email. The only thing I regret of having my parents by my side to share the happiness with! But all I could do was crying alone while hugging their picture...
Ahhh again I am thinking of depressing stuffs? I am really worthless! Anyways, the new era of my life begins...
With bold steps I walked inside the building along with a wide smile on my face. Little did I know, the steps I took in starting a new life will change the meaning of life forever...
I reached the 13th floor, I was advised to visit the editorial department there. Shining with confidence, I walked inside the departmental office. But what's this? The atmosphere inside the office was horrible! It looked all gloomy and claustrophobic! For a moment, it felt that I have walked inside a morgue! All the editors looked like a herd of zombies working on their computers with dark circles beneath their eyes. I stood at the entrance looking all confused! I checked the signboard again near the entrance, maybe I have come to a different office... But no! It's written here, Han Editorial Department. Then why they are looking like zombies? Where is the happy and friendly atmosphere they write about on the magazines?
I knocked at the entrance door nervously. Those herd of zombies, um I me-mean editors, all of them looked at me once as if I am a small lamb standing outside a lion's den. Their expression creeped me out.
I thought that finally I will lead a happy and comfortable work life! But the atmosphere of the office was making me sick!
"Hello! Are you Miss Kim Soo-Ha? New Chief Editor?" I heard a normal human voice behind me in that disturbing atmosphere. Those zombie- I mean the ed-editors, fuck why I am consistently calling them zombies? They were still staring at me...
I turned behind and saw a beautiful office lady in her 30's standing behind me with a wide smile. She was the only one who seemed to be normal there. I wanted to cry in happiness! I have never felt so happy on seeing a mere human before! Awkwardly I nodded my head and said, "yes!"
She was staring at me while smiling. Maybe she understood that I was panicked with that disgusted atmosphere.
"Why are you standing on the entrance looking all freaked out? This is your office! You should walk in confidently!" She tried to level up my self-confidence which I completely lost after watching the work atmosphere...
"Ye-Yeah! Bu-But Ma'am, why is the atmosphere inside is so gloomy? I-It looks like I have walked inside an haunted ho-house!" I uttered these words with very difficulty.
"Ahhh! So you are nervous watching these editors? Ha ha! Don't worry! They are just stressed a bit! Actually they are piled up with different deadlines! And the authors also give them a hard time, they will never complete their work within the scheduled date and these poor editors have to make up everything by working a bit hard! That's why, they are looking like corpses!" She told everything very casually.
My eyes were wide open! How can she talk about those hardships so casually? Has she lost her mind too by overworking too much?
But she doesn't seem to be an editor! I was staring at her with intense eyes.
"Ohh I forgot to introduce myself! I am Miss Sawako Kijima, the director-in-charge of Han Publications! You can call me Madam Sawako too! I welcome you to this warm environment!" She greeted me with a smile.
Warm? This haunted environment with editors looking like zombies seems warm to her? I guess she has lost her mind too! No one is probably normal here!
Damn! My dream of working in a happy and friendly environment shattered into pieces...
