She exited the room and left Stephanie more confused than she was.
"Bella...," Stephanie turned to Bella for answers since none was around to satisfy her curiosity.
"Is what she said true or is she trying to deceive me so that Jennifer and I would get closer...,"
"I told you that your biological mother wasn't that bad after all. You are the one who refused to believe whatever I said about her back then," Bella murmured, her gaze trailing the lady who was approaching the centre table.
She didn't utter a word after Stephanie sat down on the couch opposite hers. Instead, she watched the various emotions that appeared and vanished on her face as she tried to sort her thoughts.
"You once abandoned the person you loved the most, your friends and family to keep them safe. So I am sure you must understand what it means to be helpless just like your mother," Bella spoke up at last and disrupted the awkwardness that had lasted for close to seven minutes.
