Charlie pulled her to himself before the shattered glass could bounce and pierce Gabrielle's hand.
"Damn! Why is nothing going right today," Gabrielle muttered angrily. She spared no attention to the guests whose gazes were centred on her and Charlie.
Her mother was talking to her friends and just like the others, the shattering of the glass of whiskey caught her attention. She excused herself from her companions and approached where Gabrielle was standing.
"Gab, what do you think you are doing...,"
"Mother not right now please," Gabrielle who was already frustrated interrupted her mother knowing very well what she wanted to say.
"Gab...,"
"Mum, I said not right now. Please just leave me alone. I am not in the mood to listen to your lectures right now," Gabrielle said in low tones so that other guests will not hear what she said.
Gabrielle walked away when she saw that her mother still wanted to press the issue further.
