"You said your mum and sister got separated from you in the park right?" The boy who knew she had lied about the fact that she was abandoned asked the obvious question. Stephanie nodded her head affirmatively. She was sad knowing that she would eventually have to part ways with the boy who gave her the best memory of her life.
"Since there is no guarantee that they are still in the park, how about I drop you off at home," The boy who was now in the car offered. The occupants of the car were him, his driver and his butler. He had sternly warned his bodyguards when Stephanie was busy having fun not to dare show up in front of him so that they won't scare the little girl. "I can't bear to leave you here all alone," He said.
"My house is in City N," Stephanie who learned to memorized were her family resides at the age of four since she was often abandoned at random places described in details where exactly her home was located in City N.
"You don't have to bother about me if you are not living close by to where I live. I will find my way home on my way," Stephanie interjected. Somewhere inside her mind, she really wished that the boy was living somewhere close to her home so that she would sometimes pay him a visit whenever she was free.
"Who says, I am not living close by. My house is a few distance from yours," The boy lied to the shock of his driver and butler who turned around to give him a piercing glare for daring to lie to the poor girl.
"Hop in. I will drop you off at home." The boy opened the door of the car for her. The driver drove away at the boy's order after the girl was seated in the car. All this while both Stephanie and the mysterious boy had forgotten to exchange names. After chatting for a while, the car stopped a few distance away from Stephanie's home just like she had requested. She was afraid that her mum or sister would see her coming out from someone's car through the window. She didn't want to take any risk.
"What is your name?" The boy asked curiously after the car came to a halt. "I completely forgot to ask earlier". It was then too Stephanie recalled that she didn't even know the boy's name.
"Stephanie," Stephanie said smiling. "My name is Stephanie Smith and yours?". The boy smiled as if he had recalled something. Immediately the boy wanted to answer, his butler's phone rang disrupting their conversation. They both waited for him to end the call so that they would continue with their conversation.
"Young Master V, Madam wants you home immediately," The butler informed him after he had ended the call.
"Ok," The boy replied grimly.
"Stephanie, I recalled you told me that today was your birthday. I have a gift for you but I don't know whether you are going to like it," The boy said, turning around to look at the girl who had gotten his attention, the moment he set his eyes on her. His butler and driver exchanged surprised glares when they heard his words. As long as they could recall the young master did not buy any gifts for her so they did not understand what he meant.
"Really?" Stephanie exclaimed. Her eyes glittering in excitement.
"Mhm...," The boy responded, nodding his head.
"You know I will love whatever big brother gives me," Stephanie said smiling innocently. "Big brother?" The butler and driver thought as they exchanged puzzled gazes yet again. The boy signalled his butler to hand over something to him from the front of the car. The butler did not understand what he meant until he pointed his hand at the gift the young master had asked him earlier to retrieve in the morning.
"But, Young master, this was supposed to be your gift for Madam for her birthday which is tomorrow," The butler objected. He could not utter a word again when his young master who rarely gets angry threw him a murderous glare. The boy could be very gentle but very heartless when angered.
"This is a customized bracelet and hairpin. I hope you liked it," The boy said as he opened the small blue box.
"Wow! This is pretty". Stephanie opened her mouth in awe when she saw the sparkling blue bracelet and hairpin. Letter, 'S' as for Stephanie was boldly designed on it.
"Thank goodness her name starts with S just like my mum's name or else I wouldn't have a gift to give her on her birthday," The boy thought as he smiled along with her. The boy was taken aback when the girl suddenly hugged him out of the blues.
"Thank you so much big brother. You have made me so happy today. You are the best gift the world has given me," Stephanie said, refusing to let go. The butler wanted to scold her but the boy signalled him not to disrupt their moment.
"I really love your gift," Stephanie said as she pecked him on his cheek. To her the peck didn't mean anything but the boy who hasn't been pecked before except by his mum froze on the point. Surprise was written all over his face as he stared at her.
"Thank you so much Misters for your kindness," Stephanie bowed respectfully to both his driver and butler before she tried to open the car's door but the boy pulled her back.
"Stephanie, remember don't let people's jeers or hurtful words get to you. No matter what anyone says to you, just know that there is one boy who thinks that you are the prettiest girl in the world and that boy is me. You are pretty both from within and outside," the boy said smiling at her.
"I will keep your words in mind," Stephanie said as she stepped out of the car.
"I will visit you often to keep you company. Keep the gifts safe because this gift will serve as a token of my earlier promise to you perhaps we lost contact. Learn to love yourself then people will not have any option but to love you," The boy said as he waved her goodbye. Stephanie waved her hands at their car with a smile on her face. She only left when the car was out of sight. The first thing she did before she arrived in front of their house was to hide the gifts underneath her dress. She knew very well that her elder sister would forcefully take the gift away from her if she saw it.
On their way back home, The butler who has been keeping quiet the entire time Stephanie was in the car spoke up.
"Young Master, why did you lie to the poor girl about where you lived? You know very well that the distance of where you reside and where she resides is unimaginable so why did you lie to her?" The butler asked politely.
