Damn my silly mouth! I spitted out the truth because of my excitement. What am I gonna say now to save myself from Big Bro's wrath?
Gabrielle thought as she quickly tried to come up with convincing lies to tell Stephanie.
"Is he perhaps pretending not to know who I am?" Stephanie prober further when Gabrielle did not speak.
"Is that how my words sounded like to you?" Gabrielle asked as she though that is not what she meant.
"Steph, that is not what I meant. Besides, how could Big bro knows who you are when neither of us tells him? We are the only ones who know the truth so how could he suddenly discover the truth after his 19 years of futile search if neither of us spilled the beans?" Gabrielle asked in a serious tone. Although her expression came out firm, the truth was she was trembling within. She silently prayed that Stephanie should believe her lies.
