"Hello?" A voice rang through Lucifer's phone. The voice of someone he always looked up to, someone that he would proudly call his brother. Lucifer only called him whenever he felt lost. To him, he's like a light guiding him home, no matter how far he strayed from himself.
"Hey, Jack," He said, blowing some smoke out of his lungs.
"Hey, Luce. What's up?" Jack answered.
"I just wanted to know how you're doing." That was a lie, obviously and Jack knew that. Whenever something is wrong, Lucifer would call him and say the same thing.
"I'm good. Tell me what's wrong, Luce."
Lucifer chuckled, "You always see right through me. But I'm afraid this thing cannot be discussed over the phone, Jack."
"Do you need me to come to Charis for a while?" Jack asked, his worry escalating quickly. As far as he knew, Lucifer would tell him everything so this had to be an important thing.
"No, it's fine. There's an investigation happening here. 2 dead bodies found in the forest," Lucifer explained.
"Yeah, I heard about that. How're you holding up?"
"We're fine," Lucifer nodded even though Jack couldn't see him.
"Hey, you tell everyone that it's gonna be alright, yeah? I'll be at Charis by sunset tomorrow."
"Jack, it's fine. You don't need to come here."
"I want to."
"Alright, be careful."
"I will. Bye, baby bro."
"Bye."

"Ms. Arrington, did you see anyone, maybe teachers or maids, going to the forest behind your school on Thursday night?" Detective Bassi asked Caroline who had a lie detector attached to her.
Caroline took a deep breath, calming herself down, though Bassi could see that her heartbeat is picking up.
'Should I break down in front of her to get her off my back?'
Caroline started fake crying, "I-I'm sorry. I-I j-just don't know who would do this to two innocent people." She let out a sob as Detective Bassi looked at her with pity and sadness.
"It's alright, just tell me what you know, Ms. Arrington."
Caroline shook her head with fake tears in her eyes, "I don't know anything. Please, don't let anyone else die."
"It's okay. Just...calm down and we'll talk."
She kept crying and Detective Bassi kept trying to calm her down but she's given up.
"You know what, I don't think you know anything, anyway. I'll talk to you later," Bassi said, guiding Caroline to the door.

"Caroline!" She heard Lucifer call for her as she walked out of the room with fake tears on her face.
She turned around to see Lucifer running to her and instantly hugging her.
"Are you alright? I heard crying," He said after he let go.
Caroline nodded, "I'm alright."
Lucifer's face was unsure of her answer then she whispered to him reassuringly, "It was fake."
Lucifer gasped in mock surprise, "You little devil." His smirk looked proud of his friend, his sister, now actually.
Caroline laughed, "I thought you were the devil."
"I am."
His face downed in realization of what he wanted to say and he cleared his throat.
"Jack's coming and he told me to tell you that everything's gonna be okay."
Caroline's smile grew, "Jack's coming? I hadn't seen him since he graduated."
"Yes, I guess he had been quite busy in LA."
"Have you told the others yet?" Caroline asked.
Lucifer shook his head, "Do you wanna tell them with me?"
"Of course I do. Gosh, I miss Jack so much. How old is he now? 35, 34? Did he find himself a wife already? I can't wait to see him again," She rambled as they walked to their friends,

"Leonora, do you know of anyone who might have the motive to kill reporters?" Detective Bassi asked Leonora who's face remained calm and who's heartbeat was only picking up slightly. It was no doubt that she has been getting better at lying.
"Not that I know of. Everyone in this school has always been kind to me. Even though reporters cause a hell lot of trouble, no one would go as far as killing them," She answered, her voice full of strong emotion that made Bassi believe of what she's saying.
And though it's not entirely a lie, everyone had been very kind to her, though she had not been kind to everyone. And reporters do cause a lot of trouble in this school.
"Um, well, then that's a dead-end," Detective Bassi said, mostly to herself as she thought of what to ask next.
"I can tell you though, that some people are more violent and mean than the rest."
Bassi furrowed her eyebrows, "Like who?"
"Even though I have a conflict with Scarlett even since I came here, I don't think she would kill anyone. Angelique, however, is the mean girl here. And that may not say much but she is so vengeful, I don't know how her brother puts up with her," Leonora explained, and again, not lying.
She remembered the day she first came to Charis well. Scarlett looked mad at her from the very first time she talked to Natasha. Leonora had always assumed that she was jealous but what for? Scarlett and Natasha weren't even close considering how long they've known each other.
And Leonora had always found Angelique annoying but she's been good friends with her brother so she learned to tolerate her. But she could never get past how clueless and dumb she is at times,
"Alright, we'll keep that in mind. Thank you, Ms. Cabalerro."

"Hello again, Mr. Calloway," Detective Bassi greeted with a nod.
"I'm beginning to think you like me a little too much. After all, why would you need to have a fifth talk with me, am I right?" He said with an arrogant smirk on his lips.
"You're wrong actually. I don't like any of this, but it's my job. So tell me, Isaac, do you know anyone here that might know or hold a grudge against reporters like Alexandra and Jackie?" Bassi said, mirroring his smug expression.
"No. The maids and teachers here have been like family to me since I was little, and I know that none of them would do something like killing someone, much less two. Though I haven't had the time to bond with the new maids. I've been preoccupied lately, thank you for that by the way."
The first time Isaac stepped foot in this school was when he was 5, just a kid who was being sent away for his safety. But the older he gets, the more he realizes that his dad didn't want him to be a burden, a distraction from his job. And that hurt, the first time, and the second time. The more Isaac thought about it, the less it hurts. Or maybe he had just not been letting himself feel.
Bassi thought nothing of his comment, he mind wondered to the newer maids. The ones who spoke in hushed whispers to each other every time she passed.
"There are many new maids here this year," She stated, as if persuading him to give her a more specified answer.
He looked at her, understanding the police officer clearly, "Not many new this month though."
Detective Bassi nodded, feeling satisfied with the new lead, "Your father thought you well."
"Please. He never thought me anything," He said as hurt flashed over his eyes for a brief moment but he quickly covered it up. "It all comes from here," He smirked, pointing to his head.
Detective Bassi shook her head in amusement, "It amazes me how free you've gotten in the last few days."
"Ah, I have you to thank for that."

"Scarlett! Did you hear?" Caroline exclaimed, feeling giddy and ecstatic.
"Hear what, Care?" She asked softly, seeing her puffed out eyes.
"Jack's coming!" Caroline answered, jumping up and down with a smile on her lips.
Scarlett froze, shocked, to say the least.
"Jack's coming?" She repeated in disbelief.
"Yes, he's coming. Are you as excited as I am? Oh, I can't wait to ask him to read that poem he always read to me when we were kids. Did you remember it? I remember Jack calming you down as you cried because Lucifer took your toys. You must miss him so much," Caroline rambled.
Scarlett still looked dazed, as she thought of Jack. He had always been like a brother to her, helping her with her lessons and comforting her when she misses home. Of course, she was excited to see him again.
She could barely remember what they last said to each other. But she did remember seeing his graduation cap in Lucifer's room, though. It felt like a reminder of him always being there for them. And he was.
She remembered listening to him and Caroline recites a poem that she could remember faintly now. She could remember how he taught her to swim when she was 4. She remembered how he ushered her to become friends with Caroline, Isaac, and Natasha.
She remembered how he was. She remembered him. And she wondered if he had changed. And she became more excited to see him.

"Mr. Hansen, you've been busy," Detective Bassi said, noticing the music sheets Kaiden is holding.
"Ah, yes. Angelique is making me do a song for her birthday," He said, sitting down in front of her.
"Do you want to do it?" She asked, intrigued.
Kaiden shrugged. "Well, yes, I would do anything for my friends. But I do feel a little forced though," He said with an airy laugh.
Detective Bassi nodded, getting her head back in the case.
"So, do you think anyone could have a conflict with reporters such as Alexandra and Jackie?"
"Here? Of course. Reporters follow us day and night, it's hard to keep calm when they keep invading our privacy. But I'm pretty sure that they could only go as far as threatening them and calling security," He explained.
Detective Bassi took noted of them. How they kept talking about their teachers and maids that they forgot to talk about themselves. It seemed almost suspicious to her.
"Alright, how about your friends? As people so open to the media, they must be followed around a lot. Do you think that they may have a growing problem with them?"
Kaiden nodded, "To be honest? Yeah. We're just kids and they follow us around as if we're a circus. It would be impossible for us to not get mad once in a while."
"Do you have anyone on top of your mind when you think about that?"
"Yes, multiple. Though I'm not one to drop names, Angelique and Dominique have quite a temper."
"Thank you, Kaiden."
