Chereads / SLOW BURN / Chapter 5 - CHAPTER FIVE

Chapter 5 - CHAPTER FIVE

The next morning, when the alarm rang loudly in the quiet room, Ivy sat up in her bed and turned it off. She buried her head in her hands, letting out a deep sigh. This was the day, tonight, they would be attacking. Better to do it at night and have the element of surprise. Soon she would have her brother beside her.

Ivy stood and headed for the bathroom and did her business. Before coming out and getting changed into a top and jeans, and throwing a cargo jacket on overtop. She brushed her hair and pulled it up into a ponytail, before grabbing a gun and tucking it into the waistband of her trousers, then heading downstairs for breakfast. She didn't have school today, considering it was a Saturday.

As she was heading down, Ivy took her phone out and looked through her calendar. Tomorrow, Sunday, would be her birthday. She would finally turn 18, and get access to her families main account, something her brothers captors have been waiting for, for 6 years, and that was why she was attacking today.

The rest of the day went by pretty quickly, and pretty soon all her allies and some of their men were lining up in her entrance hall, getting suited up and checking their weapons. Ivy herself was in her office, dressed in tight leather pants, and a black full sleeved top with a bulletproof vest on overtop.

She had a gun and a dagger holstered to her thigh, and on her belt she had a gun and another dagger. Slung over her shoulder was her rifle. After stuffing extra mags anywhere she could, she headed downstairs to where everyone else was. She could see Caleb, Devin, her allies, Carlos. They were all there.

She ignored them all and walked outside, headed for the garage. She wouldn't be taking her lovely Bugatti today, not wanting to risk it being seen and targeted. She opted for matte black Jeep that they had in the garage, along with many others. When she was sat inside, alone, she rested her arms on the steering wheel and hid her head between them, taking deep breaths.

This was it. After 6 years, this was the day she would get her revenge, and her brother, whatever it took. Suddenly, Ivy's phone began ringing and she tapped the green icon, bringing it to her ear. "Ivy Parker."

"Hey V." She could hear Lily say.

"Hey guys."

"How are you feeling?" That was Levi.

"Nervous, but more excited. I can't wait till those bastards get what they deserve. Jacob's gonna be home in a few hours."

"We just wanted to wish you luck. Promise you'll come back alive, and without any holes." Sierra said.

"I'll be coming back alive for sure, no promises on the holes. I can't guarantee anything. But I'll be back, I promise. Talk to you guys in a few hours. Bye." And then she hung up and stored her phone in the car. Ivy waited in the car for everyone else to get into their cars and give the ready signal.

And once they did, she flashed her lights, and began driving out. All the cars were different, and they were all to drive separately, so that it didn't seem suspicious that a bunch of cars were headed in the same direction. They also wouldn't be heading right for the location, which had been given to them by an anonymous source only a few days ago. They would park a few blocks away and then walk the rest of the way, using the dark as their cover.

Soon enough, Ivy stood in front of the massive house, knowing her brother was in there. It took everything in her not to march in there and start firing. But she knew she had to wait for everyone else and follow the plan.

When they all arrived and assembled on the edge of the property, Ivy gave the signal for their next move. Pairs of soldiers would separate from the main group and head right for the security towers and camera, killing the guards and disabling all cameras and defenses, allowing the rest of the group to enter the house without being caught.

"Cameras and defenses down, Boss."

"Guards down too."

"Thank you, boys." Ivy replied to the earpiece before nodding her head to the house and began moving. She could hear the rest of the group moving behind her. As soon as they got to one of the doors, they separated once more. Each group would head for an entrance and kill anyone they saw. Ivy would too, she would just be looking for Jacob as well, that was her main objective. As soon as she had him, she would join in the fun.

Ivy shot the doorknob with her gun that had a silencer on it and the door slowly swung open. Ivy walked in quietly, with her gun ready. As soon as she was in the house, she turned her flashlight on and looked around, pointing her gun at every corner. When she saw no one, she sighed and moved on.

It was now time for Ivy to go solo. Her group would leave her, and she would head down as low as she could go. Because all gang houses had their dungeons and cells in the basement, it was protocol in a way. So she held her gun tight and walked down the stairs, alert.

It was quiet, maybe too quiet. But then again, it was very late. The quiet was soon disturbed when she heard shots in the upper levels of the house and a small smile graced her lips. The fighting had begun. She cocked her gun when she heard footsteps, and held her breath when she saw someone appear at the end of the corridor. A guard. But before he could get his gun out, Ivy had shot him and he collapsed.

She walked towards him and continued forward, shooting any guards in her way. Eventually, she got to the cells and there was a ton of guards there, not a surprise there. They would have lots of them guarding Jacob, considering how important he was. Ivy had only a few bullets left, so she shot some men with those and they collapsed.

*mature violent scenes next, skip if you're not comfortable, I'll leave a note when it's done*

But then she had to get her daggers out and use those. A man came at her and swung, she ducked and slashed at his stomach. His shirt ripped and blood poured out, causing the man to groan and drop to his knees. Ivy turned around and caught the fist of another man who tried to hit her. She brought her knee up and kneed his balls, causing him to double over and allow her to bring his head down on her knee, resulting in a loud crack as his nose broke and blood spurted on her trousers.

As his head was still low, she lifted her dagger and brought it down to the back of his neck, piercing it all the way through and then pushing the man away. He gurgled, his fingers groping at his throat in an attempt to stop the steady flow of blood pouring out.

Ivy turned back to the other man and slashed his throat with her dagger, causing the blood to spray out and cover her face and vest in scarlet. She blinked, and then brought her free hand up and wiped her face, smearing the blood across her cheek.

A roar came from her left and she turned to see another guard charge for her. A man as well. Not surprising that they had no women involved. Awfully sexist in her opinion. The man kicked his leg out and caught her in the stomach, causing her to stumble back. Ivy took a few steps back before running right for the man and jumping, wrapping her legs around his waist and squeezing so that she didn't fall off.

She brought her dagger up and then down on his hand, before repeating that action again, and again and again, piercing his head with the dagger and causing blood to spill from the wound. The man staggered and before he could fall, she jumped off and watched him drop to the ground, with the dagger still in his head.

One more man ran at her and she grabbed his arm before twisting it behind him and snapping it, causing a yell of agony to escape his lips. She dropped his arm and brought her hands to his neck, snapping it quickly, and then letting his body drop.

*ok violence done :)*

Ivy stood back, looking around at all the bodies she had left, breathing heavily. She grabbed a dagger and held it tightly before walking in the direction of the cells and looking into each one. Empty, each one, empty. Until she got to the end, where there was one cell with a padlocked wrapped around the bars. There was the shadow of a person inside, and Ivy's heard soared.

She took out her rifle and shot the lock, it dropped to the ground and she was left with another lock, this one built into the bars. She lifted the gun and shot the second lock, causing the door to open slightly. She tucked the gun back into its holster and took her dagger out, heading right for the body.

"Ja-Jacob?"

"Who are you?" Came a weak reply. It sounded like Jacob, but she couldn't be sure until she saw his face.

"It's Ivy." And those words caused the person to turn around, and in the faint, flickering light of the corridor, Ivy saw their face, and her eyes glimmered with tears. Her brother was right here in front of her. His pale face was dirty and bruised, and his hair greasy and matted.

"Ivy?" This time is was a whisper.

"Hey little brother. I'm here." Ivy smiled sadly, before opening her arms. Jacob launched himself into her arms and wrapped his own thin ones around her.

"Ivy, you're here! You came for me!"

"I'm here little brother. I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner." She stroked his hair, leaning her head on his shoulder. He was taller than her.

"It's okay. You're here now, and that's all that matters. Are you getting me out of here?"

"Yes, I am." Jacob pulled away and frowned at the red liquid that covered her face.

"Is that blood?"

"Not mine, but yes. Couldn't get in here without dropping a few bodies."

"Those bastards deserved it."

"They deserve so much worse. I've got men all over the house slaughtering them."

"Is Dad okay? And Mum? Demi?"

"Jake." Ivy tucked the dagger away and placed a hand on either side of his face, looking at him sadly. "They're dead. The day they took you from the car crash, they killed them."

"What? No, no, they can't be gone Ivy. You're joking, it isn't funny Ivy." When he saw Ivy wasn't grinning, his face dropped. "No." He whispered. Ivy wrapped her arms around him again and he sobbed into her shirt. "Why?"

"Because these people are sick fuckers, and they wanted revenge."

"You were alone all those years." Jacob pulled away, frowning.

"Not really alone." There was a smile on her face. "I had the gang, with dad gone, I was the leader. And I had Sierra and Levi, and I met Lily later. I have Devin, and the other gang-leaders. They helped me tonight, with getting you out of here and ending those psychos."

"I'm glad you had them."

"I am too. They miss you. Now, you can meet them tomorrow at the party, but we have to get out of here now."

"Party?"

Ivy helped Jacob out of the cell and down the corridor she came from, dragging him up the stairs, and they got closer to the sounds of gunfire. "They insisted on throwing me a party. Partly because you're back, and also for my 18th."

"You're turning 18?"

"Yeah."

"I missed so much."

"It's alright Jake. You're here now." They were at the top of the staircase now, and the gunfire was everywhere. Ivy led Jacob to the door she came in from and helped him outside. She could see Carlos in the distance.

"Is that Carlos?" Jacob asked.

"Yeah. He's been helping me a lot. I guess you could say he's the third in command."

"Who's the second?"

"You, of course." Ivy smirked, before yelling. "CARLOS!"

Carlos shot someone before looking over and rushing towards them, eyes wide. "Jacob!" He hugged the younger boy.

"Hey Carlos."

"Carlos, get him home."

"But Boss-" Carlos interjected.

"No, please Carlos. You've done your job tonight, now get him home. I'll be back soon little brother." She kissed Jacob on the cheek before taking her rifle out and flicking the safety off and running back into the house and immediately shooting someone creeping up on her.

She continued shooting people, edging into the heat of the fight as she reloaded the rifle. Soon enough, there were bodies littered all over the floor, blood seeping from various wounds on them and coating the floors and walls.

Ivy was breathing heavily. She tucked the rifle back into its holster and brushed her hair from her eyes, smearing some blood across her face in the process. She sent a team to check every single room in the house to make sure no one was left alive, and sent another to check the grounds and surrounding perimeters, then asked Devin to send out a message that if any survivors were found, that they were to be killed, or brought to the main house.

And then, she headed back to the Jeep she drove here, and sat in the driver's seat, laying her head down on the steering wheel and taking a deep breath. She did it. That was it. She rescued her brother, and got her revenge, and damn did it feel good.

So, she dropped her weapons in the passenger's seat, and drive back to the house. Once she parked, she could see Sierra and Lily's cars parked outside as well. They were all still in the cars, Sierra in hers, Lily in hers, and Levi leaning against his bike, with his helmet tucked under his arm. As soon as he saw her, he dropped it and rushed towards her, wrapping her in a tight hug, not caring about getting blood on him.

But then he pulled away and frowned. "Is that blood?"

"Not mine."

"Not what I meant."

"Necessary though." She shrugged before being tackled to the ground by Sierra who sobbed onto her shoulder tears of relief. "Sierra, it's alright."

"I know, I'm just happy you're alright."

"Thank you." Ivy smiled a true, genuine smile. Then, Sierra pulled away and was replaced by Lily, who gave her dark haired friend a warm hug.

"I'm so glad you're alright V."

"Thank you Lily."

Levi then spoke. "So, Ivy, I don't see a small, dark-haired boy with you? Something go wrong?"

"Absolutely nothing went wrong. Jacob is back with us. He's just with Carlos right now. And as for the small boy, he isn't so small anymore, Levi. He's actually taller than I am."

"Taller than you?" Sierra questioned. "No way that scrawny little kid is taller than Ivy."

"Well, you better believe it, 'cause I am." Came a hoarse voice from the side door to the house. He must have entered from there, which explained why her friends had not seen him.

"Jake!" Ivy dropped her gun and ran towards her brother. He was stood in the doorway, wrapped in a blanket and she could see Carlos behind him, smiling faintly and keeping an eye on the younger boy.

She wrapped him in a hug as everyone else ran to catch up with her. Sierra had a hand placed over her mouth and her eyes were glimmering with tears. As soon as Ivy let go of Jacob, Sierra jumped forward and hugged him.

"I'm so glad you're okay!"

"Sierra?" When she nodded, he weakly wrapped his arms around her. She pulled away and smiled at the younger boy.

"You look so grown up. It's weird that you're taller than me. What the-" She turned to Ivy, "Can I swear around him?"

"Go for it." The other girl laughed.

"What the fuck Jacob Parker."

"Alright Sierra, shove off and let me hug him." Levi pushed her out of the way and wrapped Jacob in a hug. "Hey, J."

"Levi? Wow, you look different." Jacob looked shocked as he hugged the boy.

"He's come a long way from braces and glasses. The braces paid off." Ivy smiled. Jacob let go of Levi and turned to Lily.

"I'm sorry, I don't remember you." He felt guilty for not knowing her, but she smiled.

"That's alright, I met V after everything that happened. I'm Lily. It's nice to meet you." She held out a hand, and he shook it.

A bunch of cars drove into the main courtyard and men walked out of them, stopping at the door on their way in, each of them greeting the younger Parker. "Wow."

"Think they got tired of dealing with me. They're happy there's a more peaceful Parker." Ivy brushed the hair out of her brother's eyes, when her name was called. She turned around and saw Caleb walking towards them, covered in blood as well, and a rifle slung on his shoulder.

"Ivy."

"Caleb. Glad to see you're in one piece."

"Same to you. Hey, guys." He greeted the rest before noticing the boy stood beside Ivy. "Is that-?"

"Yes, this is Jacob. Jake, this is Caleb. He helped get you out." Ivy introduced them. "Caleb, this is my little brother, Jacob Parker."

"Thank you." Jacob shook Caleb's hand, a smile on his face. "Thank you for helping my sister and saving me."

"It was my pleasure." Caleb smiled. They let go, and Jacob hugged his blanket closer to himself.

"Cold?" Ivy asked her brother, a concerned look coming over her face.

"A little."

"Let's go inside. Guys, you all coming?"

Levi, Lily and Sierra nodded their heads but Caleb shook his with an apologetic look on his face. "I need to get the guys back to the house. I'll see you all tomorrow though." He waved and then departed, gesturing to a group of men to follow him to their cars.

"You three head off to that room I showed you upstairs. I'll take Jake to his room, and then we'll meet you there. Alright?"

"Yeah, sounds good." Sierra hugged her best friend; Levi kissed her forehead and Lily her cheek before they all went inside and headed up the stairs. Ivy wrapped an arm around her brothers shoulder and led him towards the elevator at the back of the house.

"The house still looks the same." Jacob commented as his sister pressed the button for the top floor, and the elevator doors closed.

"Yeah, I tried my best to make sure it stayed that way. As much as was possible." Ivy replied. "Happy to be home?"

"More than you could ever imagine."

"I have a pretty good feeling." She winked, a rare smile gracing her face. She hadn't smiled genuinely in a long time. For what reason was there for her to smile when her family was gone. Parents and sister murdered and brother kidnapped and brutally tortured for 6 years.

Jacob laughed quietly. The doors opened to reveal the top floor. The top floor consisted of her office that overlooked the front of the house, the room where her friends would be, her bedroom and Jacob's bedroom. She led him there and opened the door.

"I tried to replicate your old room as much as I could, with some modern elements of course. You aren't 11 anymore, after all." Ivy bit her lip nervously as she gauged her brother's reaction. He stood there, blanket on his shoulders and eyes taking in everything around him.

"V, it's better than anything I could ask for. Thank you."

"Anything for you, little brother. Anything for you." She ushered him inside. "There's a bathroom and clothes in the closet. I'll wait for you outside."

She left the room, closing the door behind her, and leaned against the wall outside. She pulled her dagger from its holster on her thigh and flipped it around in her hand, doing a few tricks as she waited for her little brother, glad he was finally home, safe and sound.
