It was a bright beautiful morning and the light fresh breeze of the early morning air sweeps through the busy city streets. The people of the small city began to busy themselves as go about their day.
In this small yet bustling city, a young man is walking calmly and yet leisurely on a path as many other people pass by him. He seems to be currently looking on the ground while walking but in truth, his eyes are closed.
Last night, Curt Nilfiem remembers a trick or a skill of some sort to enable him to use all of his five senses to feel his surroundings. Although he was a bit skeptical of this knowledge from his brain, he still tried it and for the whole night, he found a whole new world around him.
Without using his eyes and just by using all of his other senses, he is able to perceive his surroundings. His ears, his skin, and his nose worked hand-in-hand to be able to detect a whole new world that he has not seen before.
And since his body is filled and nourished by the LEP energy of the world, he is able to enhance his senses to another level.
It is like playing a game and you are in a 3rd person view.
It was so fantastic that he was thrilled to try it as soon as he got off his bed.
Curt walked slowly as he still needed to focus his senses, he knew that this thing needs a lot of practice and practice he shall do.
Soon he arrives at the convenience store and saw a long line of people. This is already a normal occurrence in the store and he is already used to it. Luckily for him, not all people in the city believe the miraculous effect of the things they are selling in the store.
As he comes in, he saw his boss and his boss's wife busily serving the customer. Plus there are two new employees hired to assist them as the number of people coming to the store has already increased these past few days.
"Good morning, Boss!" Curt greeted with a smile.
However, his boss looks at him with bewilderment in his face. He was too astounded to say something as Curt is currently looking at him with his eyes closed. Boss Lan just stood there with his jaws wide open. And Curt seems to not have noticed this. As he just enters the store and walked to the backroom.
One of the employees upon seeing Curt suddenly ran towards him.
"Hi, Curt…" she said but soon froze upon noticing that Curt has his eyes closed.
Curt was too entranced with using his senses that he seems to have forgotten to open his eyes. Well, there is no need for him to do that as he could actually see them. However, he immediately noticed their reaction and immediately realized what happened.
He immediately opened his eyes and smiled.
"Sorry, about that, there was a… a… dust! Yes, a speck of small dust enters my eyes… Ouch… Oh gosh…" Curt said as he pretended to rub his eyes while walking to the backroom awkwardly.
Missus Mae Cuibing just chuckles upon seeing the awkward reaction of the boy. She patted her husband and said. "Don't gawk like a fool… you know he would always do something weird every day. Get used to it."
She looked at Curt's back and smiled while shaking her head.
Meanwhile, the female employees had a dreamy and love-struck expression on her face while watching Curt leave.
"Hey you, get back to work…" Mrs. Cuibing said as she waves her had to the daydreaming female employee.
Well, she could not deny the fact that Curt is a handsome man. But she knew that he already has a girlfriend and she can also tell that the girl is not a normal girl.
That day, Curt spends his time crafting and making medicine from the herbs and plants on the table. He also began practicing more on making talismans.
All of these things are level 1 stuff so it is not that hard for him to do. But Curt knew that he has to do this so that he would be more familiar with its process. Plus he also needed time to accustom himself to the new environment and the LEP energy in his body.
According to his knowledge, the owner of the vast knowledge in his mind did not use LEP. Instead, he uses something called heavenly Qi and internal force.
For internal force, he has already accustomed his body with it, however, to change from heavenly Qi to LEP energy is a bit tricky, hence he needed to practice more so that he would be more familiar in using this new kind of energy which is really abundant in the air.
It was already evening when he was done with his chores and left the backroom. However, upon walking out he discovers that the things he made seem to be not enough.
"Eh… Boss. Why is it that we don't have much stuff left in your counter? I just made a few hundred oils and cream a while ago." Curt asked with confusion in his eyes.
But then he saw his boss looking in a certain direction. When he followed the direction, he saw a thin-looking middle-aged man wearing a black suit.
The man is standing at the door of the store and is looking at Curt with one of his brows raised.
"So this it eh culprit…" the man said with a sneer on his face.
"Culprit? Who are you? What do you want with us?" Curt asked with a serious expression.
He didn't like how the man looks at him and the contempt in the man's eyes seem to have ticked something inside of him. He didn't know why but he suddenly felt angry.
"I am the health inspector of the city. And I see that you are selling some illegal goods in here. I am here to confiscate everything in this store… Everyone move." He said with a disdainful expression.
It was as if he didn't want to stay in this place. He felt like he is looking at some beggars or worse, and did not want to interact with the people in the store for longer than he should.
At his command, a few city employees and burly men came walking in.
But as soon as they step inside the shop, they noticed that there is a strong barrier blocking their path.
"What is this?" the middle-aged man suddenly shouted in a shrill voice.
"He acts like shrew… let me see if you can take anything in this place," Curt smirked as the hand behind him has already made hand gestures to activate the second barrier of the shop.
The people from the city government wanted to move but they can't. They wanted to walk out but still, they couldn't.
Soon they have discovered that the space they are all in is slowly closing.
Everyone was in a panic. They knew that espers exist in this city. But according to their information, there is no esper in the store. They even used a scanner to make sure if it. The middle-aged man was just tasked to get the medicine from the store by his superior and of course, he needs to play the act of being superior to these people.
"How dare you trap us! Do you know the consequence of going against the city government? We can send you all to prison!" shouted the middle-aged man in his shrill voice.
However, no one knew what is happening. Everyone is looking at each other as if they have no idea.
"Mister… Mister Inspector, we��� we don't know what's going on." Boss Lan said with a frantic voice.
When Curt heard the reaction of his Boss he almost rolled his eyes. His boss is a little shameless, isn't he? Curt has already told him about the protective array in the store. And he also told him that it can be automatically activated or manually. But of course only Curt can control it manually.
As the barrier slowly contracted and the people working as inspectors are already clumped together like they were inside a can of sardines, a voice interrupted Curt's attention.
"Please, stop…"
The voice belongs to a man in his 30's. He walks towards the entrance of the shop and looks at the people inside of it. He took off his spectacles and greeted everyone inside.
"Good evening… I am the Health Department head of the city. I would like to apologize for this misunderstanding… I assure you that we don't mean any harm. We just received a report that this store is selling some drugs that are not yet approved by the country. So we are here to check."
Upon hearing the man, Curt squinted his eyes.
Well, the man has a point, so he could not deny that.
"Well, if it's just the oils and creams you are talking about, then we can give them to you for inspection. However, what he said about taking everything… that I could not permit." Boss Lan said with a straight face.
He is now showing his confidence because he knew that Curt is here.
"Alright, we can agree with that…" the man said an amiable smile.
Curt released the people and shifted the barrier to protect the rest and only exposes a large number of bottles filled with oil and cream on the counter. Boss Lan took them all out and gave it to the city health employees.
"I can't agree with this, we should… Mr…" the middle-aged man who has a shrill voice wanted to object but was shushed by the bespectacled man.
The face of the middle-aged man showed discontent and anger as he turns around and left. He gave boss Lan and Curt an angry glare as he left.
"Sigh… this is what fame can do to you… I think after the health inspectors, another branch of the city government would follow… what greedy bastards." Curt thought as he shook his head in helplessness.
His eyes and Boss Lan's eyes met and it seems that there is a tacit understanding between them.
"Well, you want my products, you can take it… But this would end here… there would not be the next time." Curt smirks in his heart as a plan began brewing inside of him.
