Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 – The first Miracle

The silent corridor drew out gasping breaths as the nurses and a doctor were currently looking at a single figure in the middle of their group. The young man looks a bit weak and ragged, but his handsome face is very peculiar. He is currently wearing a simple old shirt and shorts while holding an IV drip in his left hand.

The young man passed his IV drip bag to the doctor, who gave him the disposable acupuncture needles and, with his free hand, lifted his t-shirt. Because of the rigorous exercises, Curt's muscles became well-toned.

So when he lifted his shirt, those female nurses had their eyes glued on those six-pack abs and tight muscles.

"Wow…" One of them could not even help but blurt out.

Some had even bitten their lips as if seeing some rare delicacy.

But Curt didn't bother with these reactions as his concentration was on his stomach. With a quick movement of his nimble hand, he inserted the needle into his skin easily and then followed by another and another. Soon some parts of this body are already filled with needles.

He hit some crucial acupoints in his stomach, side, neck, and chest.

Then, after a while, he carefully removed the patch that covered his newly stitched wound, and right before everyone's eyes, they saw the wound mark slowly closing on their own. The speed of the wound healing is visible to the naked eye.

Curt's eyes are currently closed as he forces the LEP energy from his body and into the environment to repair the stitched-up skin on his stomach.

Gasp!

The people watching this scene gasped in disbelief. Some even immediately took out their phones and recorded the scene as it was truly shocking.

It took around 2 minutes before the whole wound closed, and the residues were extracted out of the closing skin and fell to the floor.

And soon a clear white skin was shown in front of everyone's eyes.

"That... that was amazing…"

"How did that happen?"

"Yeah, I mean the fastest bullet wound healing time I have heard is one whole day and that is from an Esper… This… this is truly miraculous."

The nurses muttered as they began to discuss what they were seeing.

"So… what do you think?" the doctor who gave Curt the needles smiled and asked the woman beside him.

Unknown to the crowd, two other doctors appear as they are also attracted to the scene.

"What is this young man's background?" the female doctor asked.

"Hmm... mysterious. Do you remember the convenience store where I bought that necklace or amulet or something? That is the young man behind the booth. I think he is the one who made those. I'm not sure, though it's just my hunch," The male doctor said with a smile.

"You and your hunches... Well, do you think this fellow has a medical background? What does your hunch tell you?"

"I don't know… well see." The male doctor said with a grin on his face.

He already had a plan in his mind after seeing the miraculous effect of the acupuncture used by the young man. The mysterious technique was something that he had never read in books before.

When the doctor noticed, Curt seemed to recognize him a bit.

So, upon realizing who the young man was, he immediately handed him his set of disposable needles following his hunch.

"That was awesome… Here, I think we can remove this already." The male doctor said as he signaled one of the female nurses to remove the IV from Curt's arm.

"Wait… are you sure about what you are doing?" the other female doctor asked with a bit of hesitation in her beautiful face.

"Yeah, why not."

Then the female nurses began to move towards Curt as they wanted to be the ones to take the IV off of him.

"Hand me his chart and I will be taking care of his bill, I'll take care of everything." The doctor said, which suddenly stunned everyone.

However, they already knew his attitude, as this is his true self. He would just do whatever he wanted, and sometimes he would even pay for the patient. But of course, this is provided that the patient catches his interest.

Curt didn't know what to say and just nodded his head to thank the doctor.

When everyone had already dispersed, the doctor approached Curt.

"Your name is Curt Nilfiem… I am Doctor Vince Gale. It's nice to meet you, young man." Doctor Gale said as he extended his right hand in greeting.

Curt also reached out his right hand in greeting.

"Can you come with me for a while?" Doctor Gale asked as he signaled for Curt to follow.

Curt didn't know what was happening, but he just followed the doctor. He didn't have anything to do anyway. Plus, the good doctor had already promised to pay for his medical care, so he didn't have to spend anything, which was the best outcome for him.

"You are very proficient in acupuncture. I was amazed. Plus, that healing speed is awesome. I didn't know that a human body could heal that fast… I mean, except for those espers I guess."

"Well, it doesn't… I just used a special technique to make it so."

"Really… that was amazing... Anyway, I want you to walk with me please, I wanted to show you something."

The two began to walk while talking to each other.

"When I saw the healing rate your body did, it just dawned on me that there are limitless possibilities in this aspect. And I am willing to offer you anything, but before you react, follow me first, okay?" Doctor Gale said as he led Curt towards the second floor.

They are in the biggest public hospital in the province, hence the place is a bit crowded when they get out of the semi-private room where Curt was. The two talked for a while as they got to the second floor where the ICU and the private rooms are located.

"Have you ever heard of the Mutation theory? It was truly an eye-opener which led to the advancement of science until now. However, throughout history, advancement was usually directed towards Espers or Espernism. I think science has forgotten the lower species of men and focused on the advancement of those with Esper powers. However, what I saw just now made me realize that there is more to us than meets the eye. And I hope that you can help me prove my idea... I'm not going to do some wicked experimentation, but… I just wanted to prove it through healing." Doctor Gale said with a strange smile on his face.

Seeing Doctor Gale's smile made Curt feel a cold chill running down his spine.

The two stopped in front of a door with the number 227 on it.

Knock! Knock!

Doctor Gale knocked at the door twice and waited.

Not long later, the door slowly opened and a man in his 30s wearing spectacles peeked out.

"Ah, Doctor Gale… I'm so glad you can visit." The man said.

He looks a little haggard and a bit stressed out. Curt can immediately see that the man is suffering from a lack of sleep.

Curt and Doctor Gale enter the room, following the man.

"Ah, by the way, Mr. Lim... This young man is Curt... He is my friend."

The man and Curt just nodded their heads in greeting.

Inside the room, Curt immediately noticed that it looked better than the room he was in, which he shared with other patients. In one corner he saw a hospital bed, with many apparatus on the side connected to the person lying on it. He also noticed that the patient was a woman. She looks pale and thin. Although he can deduce that she might be in her 30s, due to her condition, she looks like she is already in her 40s.

Curt carefully scanned her body and his eyes immediately detected some traces of the disease she was suffering from and could immediately deduce what kind of sickness it was. This is especially true when he sees her weak eyes.

The woman is still awake, and it seems that the couple were talking before they arrived.

"How are you, Nancy?" Doctor Gale asked with a gentle smile on his face.

The woman just smiles at him, but Curt can already see the hopelessness in her eyes.

"Sigh… cancer is hard for the current medical practice to cure. As cancer is too varied there is no sure way to cure it with the current medical technology." Curt thought as his mind was suddenly filled with different kinds of mortal sickness which are in his head.

However, upon seeing the woman, he already has an idea of how to cure it, and that is for the body to correctly absorb LEP energy. LEP energy helps keep the body cells from uncontrollable decay. Hence, if this happens, stopping the cause of cancer would be easy. But how to do it or if the person's body can accept it, that is the problem.

But of course, Curt's mind already has that answer. And that is through the use of LEP-rich herbs, which are abundant in the world right now. If he can create the right formula combination that is compatible with the patient's blood, then, there is a chance for him to cure the disease.

While he was musing, Doctor Gale had already observed him and knew that Curt had an idea of what was happening to the patient. As someone with sharp intuition and an almost accurate hunch, this is what he is feeling right now.

"You already knew her condition, right?" he asked.

Curt just nodded his head unconsciously while his mind was still processing the things in his brain.

"Well, she is suffering from cancer… but as I see it, it's not in the blood but somewhere in her body… If I can…" Curt subconsciously walked closer but stopped as he suddenly regained from his stupor.

Sensing what the young man was thinking, Doctor Gale smiled and just nodded his head for him to continue. This made Curt feel a bit excited. He didn't know why, but he was aching to help cure the patient. It was as if he had suddenly found a new toy and his curiosity immediately overcame his judgment.

"Hmm… Breast cancer... already in the third stage. Well, it looks hopeless in the current medical technology. But... there is still actually a chance. It would hurt for a bit as the process is not the usual... but..." Curt muttered with a bit of hesitation.

"The medication I was thinking of is somewhat inclined into a liquid herbal decoction or essence. But as I see it with the current advanced technology, we can introduce it to her system directly, which would shorten its effectiveness. Hmm... That's right! If it works, then the medicine will make her cells return to their normal growth and kick out the dead ones."

Curt was just muttering these words to himself, but the three people in the room could hear him.

The couple had their eyes wide open upon hearing his words. And both were shaken.

The woman is already saying her goodbyes to her husband. She wanted to be strong and show him that she was already contented. Although they didn't have a chance to have children, she was still thankful to the man who gave her his love and affection, and she was contended to be with him.

Her only regret is leaving him alone.

But now… there is hope! That is something that they needed the most.

And that hope came when they least expected it.
