Chapter 25 - Agreement

"Yeah," Adam agreed, "And what need would God want with us as prisoners? I am certain death is more fit. I do not wish to be like David; he had done so much for Him and received nothing but punishment."

"You will not," Eve grabbed his hand in both of hers, "I will not let Him."

"And I as well," Adam said sternly, "I shall die fighting for you this time and all of time."

Eve felt the heat from the flames light her up when those words fluttered in her mind. Cheeks inflamed, she let out a soft laugh tucking her face at the curve of his neck.

"I love you," she sighed smiling and felt his arms wrapped around her.

"I love you too," he let out a laugh and his chest moved with it, "Let us rest, my love. Then we can plan on our next step."

She nodded as he brought them to lay facing one another. Breathes mingling and body pressed to one another, they fell asleep to the licking of warmth produced by the flames.
