The moonlight was the only thing illuminating the bedroom as the couple sat at opposite ends, back facing one another. Soft breathings from both parties were the only sound being heard. After returning from the hospital, Eve had gone straight to the room. Adam followed cautiously, letting the woman have her space, but worried enough to be near.
"I'm sorry," she whispered softly, voice breaking as tears fell down her eyes to drip down her chin.
Eve touched her stomach, fisting her hand, and pressed against her abdomen. Why… why her? Why couldn't her body be strong? Why did this have to happen when… when it was the only thing she could give to Adam? The only thing worth more than a lay with her.
Covering her face, she cried softly wanting to scratch out her face, her stomach, her heart. She does not wish to live anymore. It hurts. This hurt was too much for one to bare.
