Chapter 5 - Lies

The roars of fire roasted around them as if to burn them whole. Clawed hands reached out looking for flesh; teeth, sharp as knives, looked for prey as it sunk deeper into skin and muscles.

A howl from pain; a cry from anger, and laugher rang through the clearing of dust and debris.

"Such strength, and you waste it," her father scowled as he whipped his tail at her.

Eve dodged and used her sword to slash her father, but her father held it in his hand and grinned.

"All this, for a boy," her father laughed, "Such pity."

Eve glared at her father as she dematerialized her sword to stab her nails into her father's shoulder. He let out a grunt and narrowed his eyes. His tail wrapped around and stabbed itself into her stomach where blood rushed down her body like running water.

"Stupid child," her father threw her away from him, as her claws removed itself from his shoulder.
