Chapter 33 - Flickering

The fire that flicked and danced had watched the two lovers talk, love, eat, laugh, and cry. It kept them warm in this cavern between Hell and the surface world. A secret place that only two others had found, had stayed just as long, if not longer, than these lovers.

However, there was a change in the atmosphere, between the two.

The touches seemed to be more longing, more rushed, more… sad. Their eyes seemed to also express those feelings. The soft whispers, light caresses, and the push and pull of energy pumped through the cave as the other slept.

The fire had seen many things and it was sure it would find another pair soon. Maybe another hundred centuries, there will be brothers, sisters, or even lovers who looked for its warmth. Until then, it must say goodbye as the woman stood before it.

"I thank you for caring for us, little fire," the pretty woman smiled, "It is time for us to go."
