Chapter 123 - 122 Recharged

R-18 Violence

He waited until the circle area was full of soldiers before he started murmuring and placing his hand, glowing, to the ground.

I watched as the glowing melted down into the dirt, leaving trails of gold glow that faded as it moved. They snaked through the dirt as Bavarthos pulled me back to remain out of sight of the soldiers. My heart beating against my chest, I felt like I was going to have an anxiety attack as the lines moved towards the circle. I held my breath as Bavarthos tossed some smoke grenades to make it difficult for both sides to see what was going on and when it connected, my jaw dropped.

The golden lines flew up from the dirt, like vicious tentacles and whips, wrapping around soldiers or going through them. The soldiers looked like they were paralyzed. They were unable to move, with scared, shocked faces, unaware of what really just happened. The gold lines just as suddenly went back into the ground, leaving the soldiers to drop dead.

The lines rushed back to us and instinctively I flinched and moved back. Bavarthos takes a knee and the lines go to him and he lifts the glow up to him. Watching in horrified fascination, I hesitate stepping forward.

'Fuck it. He said his magic could never harm me again.'

I step closer and suddenly part of the glow breaks off and comes straight at my face! I couldn't react as it collided with me.

'Warmth... yet cooling....' Fatigue disappears from my body as the warmth spreads all over me, making me tingle and shiver.

'Wow... that feels like an orgasm!'

I smile and sigh, closing my eyes for the briefest moment. Slowly opening my eyes, I find Bavarthos looking at me with a devilish grin.

"Feels good doesn't it? Do you always giggle like that?" He winks at me before turning to the rest of the soldiers companions that were still alive.

Feeling my face and body turn red with heat, I pull up my rifle and take aim.

'I giggled? I don't even remember doing that.'

My ears feel like they're on fire, as sweat drips from my head and neck. Wiping my forehead to keep the sweat out of my eyes, I go to lift my weapon and aim. Bavarthos catching my rifles barrel shakes his head at me.

"Use your magic to attack. You need to release some of that power otherwise you'll become a heater. Which by the looks of it, is already happening." He looks me up and down, taking note of my red flushed skin and perspiration.

I look towards the soldiers who are looking at their fellow soldiers horrified that their are no attack wounds. I lift my hand and to help aim as I use the pebbles around me as projectiles. Flying through the air, they make a whirring sound as they strike their target.

'Okay, that's a little better.'

A slight reprieve from my burning skin washes over me, only to come back again. Grunting in annoyance, I stomp my foot and lift up more rocks to send them whizzing towards the soldiers, dropping and injuring several at once.

'That feels better.'

I clenched and relaxed my hands, marveling at the rush of adrenaline coursing through my body.

A mischievous giggle escaped my lips as I faced Bavarthos.

"B, I think we should have some fun..." Lifting my hands I raised some more debris and shrapnel from around us and sent it flying towards more unsuspecting enemy soldiers.

Hearing a few shrieks and cries from some that were still alive, Bavarthos muttered something and his glowing lines took off. Never once breaking his intense eye contact, even as the cries were cut off and the lines flowed back to him.

I prepared myself for the rush but didn't receive one.

Noticing my confusion, Bavarthos chuckles.

"Are we going to have some fun or are you going to stand here sounding like a woodpecker?"

His face immediately becomes solemn before scowling at me.

"What are you talking about? I'm waiting on you, ... princess."

Instantly, I start moving out into the road, pulling my Katana free of it's scabbard. Scanning the amount of soldiers that have begun to start moving sideways to avoid the danger zone of this main thoroughfare.

"B, take the left. I've got the right."

"With pleasure..." He cracks out a menacing, golden glowing whip that cuts through the air.

*WHACK-SNAP*

This grabs some of the soldiers attention but I'm already snapping to the right side of the road to catch a group unawares.

Slicing through several Achilles tendons, dropping them to the ground, I send rocks flying all around as shots are fired at me.

Snapping away to the rooftops, I avoid most of them. The sharp sting of exposed flesh on my arm tells me I've been grazed. Glancing at it, it's not deep, so I snap back to the ground, startling a small group of Elven troops. I'm quick to raise a ward this time as they begin to fire. I drop a grenade and snap away, greeted by the boom a few seconds later as I slice through another soldier.

A grinding of metal and the ping of ricocheting bullets off metal has me turning to find one of the machines sweeping through another group of soldiers. It's full of holes and missing one of its arms. Even if it doesn't feel anything, it's still a pitiful sight.

*Ping-tch-tch-ping-ping*

Dirt and dust are thrown up around me as the bullets ricochet my direction.

*Cough*

I spit blood into my hand as a piercing feeling starts to radiate from my chest.

'This really is starting to piss me off. The earth should swallow you whole.'

I stomp my foot in anger and pain and the ground beneath me trembles. A crack forms and like lightening branches off towards the machine and enemy forces.

My eyes widen and my breath is trapped, clutching my chest where the bullet hit as I stand frozen to watch.

It moves underneath them and opens up with a deafening crack.

*CRACK*

They all fall into the opening, screaming, as the earth rumbles before closing back over.

"heeeuuuhh" My breathe comes back in a deep, ragged, choking breath as I hit the ground.

The heaviness that settles over me, has me dropping face down in the dirt. My breathing is labored, and moving my arm to turn my com chip on, is turning out to be impossible.

I've barely moved my hand in the right direction, let alone my whole arm. Pausing to focus on my breathing, I notice the machine I just saved is staring at me.

'It's not moving at all, it most likely failed.'

"I feel I'm right there with you pal." I mutter out the side of my cheek.

I close my eyes and hear the coarse ball that it moves with making it's way closer to me. Opening my eyes again, it's stopped in front of me.

"Call B, if you can." I tell it breathlessly. My vision keeps wanting to go out.

'Why is it so hard to breathe? What was in those rounds they shot?!'

Suddenly, I hear footsteps and hear Bavarthos's voice. The crunch of the gravel under his knees makes me twitch, wishing I could scratch my inner ear.

"SIN! What the hell?! Sin, talk to me please?!"

It's so hard just to breathe right now. I want to answer him, but words are not forming on my lips.

So I tried to blink my eyes back open.

'Oh man that was hard.'

I'm able to open them for a few seconds and they close again.

A breath of relief comes out of Bavarthos, who scoops me up and snaps us to a different location.

He begins to mutter something again as my eyes open, again only for my vision to go dark and hazy.

Suddenly, burning like I've never felt before is happening in my chest.

"AHH!"

I'm screaming, wanting to pull away from whatever Bavarthos is doing. His grip on me only tightens as he still mutters nonsensical words, inflicting more burning pain.

"B... stop! Please stop! Just let me die!" I begin to scream out, just wishing the pain would end.

I'm bawling as he slowly releases his grip on me and I curl up into the fetal position clutching my chest.

"You're not going to die. I'm sorry. I had to inflict that pain on you, but it was to remove what you were shot with."

Slowly, I uncurl myself and realized the pain was in fact subsiding. I look up at Bavarthos and he holds a red glowing bullet.

"What the hell is that?" I ask sitting up.

Bavarthos chuckles sardonically, "A magical bullet...." He trails off.

"Well thank you captain fucking obvious. I see that." I'm annoyed as I struggle to get up and hold my hand out. "Please, B. Help me up." I almost sob out my request but hold tears in as I refuse to meet his eyes.

He sighs and helps me up and once up he motions not to talk.

He begins to write in the air a question that softly glows and fades away.

WHERE'S OUR AIR SUPPORT?

I lift an eyebrow at him, 'That's a good question...I'd like to know too.'

Bavarthos does another little murmuring chant and his glowing golden lines escape and come back shortly, going to both of us again.

I sigh as the the little golden glow recharges me and I feel much better.

"We need to get back to the rest of our team, B."

He nods raising his hand to his head.

"It's like you read my mind."
