Chapter 11 - Another Briggs?

*Two days earlier*

After not remembering what happened the night before, Meghan Mendora turned to the other side of the bed to find a man in the bed with her. She couldn't recognize his face and got creeped out. She looked around to realize that she wasn't even in her house, instead, she was in a big luxury-like house with big glass windows in the bedroom. The bedroom was almost big enough to be a living room if they wanted it to.

Meghan stood up and saw she didn't have any clothes on, only a bra and underwear. She walked to a mirror in front of the room and looked at her face. She looked at her long, past shoulder length brown hair, then she looked at her blue eyes, the freckles on her nose, and messed up makeup.

"What the fuck am I doing here?" She thought to herself, taking another look at the room.

"Hey!" She called out to the man in the bed, but he didn't move. She sped walked to the bed and shook him viciously. He slowly started to wake up and Meghan was still in a panic.

"Where the fuck am I?" She asked.

"Calm down, bitch." He turned to the other side. "We're just around the corner from the TITAN building."

As soon as he said TITAN, Meghan looked at the clock and realized she was about to be late. She threw back on her clothes that were on a chair and left in a hurry. Getting into the car, she got a call from James Walker. She picked up the phone and answered worriedly.

"Hello?" She stuttered.

"Yeah Meghan, where are you? You're about to be late." James grunted.

"I know. I am coming James, please don't-"

"You been fucking with some random motherfuckers out here again, huh?" James interrupted her. "Don't tell me what to do and get your ass over here now!" He commanded right before hanging up the phone.

Holding in her tears, Meghan drove to the TITAN building and check out, even though she didn't make it in time. The lady at the front desk gave her a up and down look and proceeded to work on the computer. You could clearly hear her chewing her gum from the door.

"I need to talk to James please." Meghan asked her.

She looked up at her again with a mean look on her face. "Just a sec." The lady rolled her eyes and grabbed the telephone, dialing James' office number. "Are you available right now?" She paused. "Ok, hold on." She looked up at Meghan again. "What's your name?"

"Meghan Mendora."

"Meghan Mendora." She got back on the phone. "Okay, she's coming now." The lady hung up. "He wants to see you." She started typing loudly on the computer.

"Okay." Meghan stuttered and started walking into the elevator. She felt embarrassed about the whole encounter. When the elevator doors opened, she gathered herself together and started to head to James' office. Before entering, she peeked inside the large window on his door and saw him there. The office was all black with a shelf full of awards and souvenirs on the right side. There was a maroon carpet with a thin gold stripe on both sides of the carpet that lead to the back of the office, which stopped at James' desk. His desk was all black as well and was neat, with a computer, keyboard, and some utensils on top. Behind his desk, all the way in the back, there was a golden statue of a man Meghan did not recognize.

James was leaning on his desk and looked like he was on the phone with someone. She quietly opened the door and closed it. Walking across the carpet, she was up to his desk and waited for him to finish, knowing he was going to yell at her. James dramatically ends the called by slamming his flip phone closed and got up to lean on the side of the desk that Meghan was in, looking at her with almost a malicious look.

"I uh-" Meghan started

"Don't." James interrupted her. "I know you've been going through it lately but you gotta have some respect for yourself."

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I mean to control yourself, Meghan." James stated while looking at the statue behind the desk. "You see this?"

"Yeah, who is that?"

"He was the best goddamn secret agent anyone could ever ask for." James answered. "His name was Scott Davis. He was brave, smart, courageous, and definitely very skilled with a gun. But what made him stand out from the rest was that he was fierce. He didn't give any bullshit. We need more agents like him."

"What happened to him?"

"Well you see.." James sat down on his chair and insisted that Meghan sat down too, which she did, and told the tragic story of Scott Davis.

"Who did this to you?" Scott was tightly grabbing his wife's hands, crying and shaking from seeing how badly bruised she was. After no response, he kissed her on the forehead and stormed out of the hospital room. James followed behind him, trying to calm him down.

"I know you're upset but I need you to calm down because I might have a lea-" James said.

"Calm down?! My wife is dying in there and you want me to calm down?! Bullshit!" Scott smacked the papers out of his hand and started to fast walk again, heading out of the hospital.

"I was going to say that we might have a lead to who did this." He continued.

"Who?" Scott quickly turned back around and desperately waited for an answer.

"We can talk about it at the police office." He insisted, wrapping his arms around him and started walking.

"Get off me." Scott pushed him off and walked to his car.

"We're so close." One officer said and the others agreed. Scott busts into the room with James trailing behind him.

"What do you have so far?" Scott took a seat and joined the conversation. "They have to still be out there somewhere."

"We believe so also, but the last person that witnesses say was last with her was Trey Briggs and he died in a plane crash 3 to 4 years ago." An officer said.

"But remember, they couldn't find his body, only the pilots and a few that they believed to be his gang members." Another officer jumped in.

The room was silent for a second. Scott started to tense up after he got a conclusion.

"That bitch faked his death." He quickly got up.

"Wait wait, we don't know-" An officer pleaded.

"Where was the plane headed to?"

"We don't know but one of his goons are in prison, maybe he knows something." James hopped in.

Scott turned around quickly, stopping James and looking at him straight in his eyes. "Who is it?"
