Chapter 1 - the apple of Eden

carriages run the streets. dots of black and whites scatter like ants, following a handpicked role by their queen. a storm is brewing, in days such as these, it's best to stay at the temple of Gods.

at least, that's what a Fallen Individual should be. among the center of the empire, stands a tall castle, a symbol of hardships and wealth by all nobles and peasants alike. they may not like the king but they have no choice but to follow the one who stands atop of wealth.

"Pothos, you may rise" knelt bowed before the king himself. a peasant of stature, his devotion towards the higher is obvious yet despised and hated.

Pothos rose to the king. a gallant yet eerie figure sits atop of the throne, along with him is the queen of all, Dia Aster. and the mastermind of all, the scariest person to have ever been born, Kirin Helios.

Helios stepped forward. a golden badge on the left that symbolizes worth.

Helios looked down on Pothos who was kneeling to receive the badge of honor "Pothos. I hereby give you the diamond crest, one of the highest honors for a Fallen. be proud as the king will be asking for assistance much for frequently from you in the future."

Pothos rose. all of the nobles of Fallen applauded with vigor, all but three; the king, the queen, and the scientist."

"my king..." Helios took a glance from the king and the king shook his head. sighed, Helios walks back to the central party where Pothos' celebration for his promotion took place.

joys of Pothos' comrades and arms were with each other, both congratulating him and messing around. although such a scene can only be truly enjoyed if this party was only interrupted.

"thinking like that will kill you Vice" a woman in a black garb for a ball. although it may seem as much. she's an assassin of the highest caliber. stealth and information gathering, assassinations and with a one-hundred percent success rate of dispatched, the Queen's black snake, Meliosa.

"you think I'd allow myself to be killed by such trivial matters?" Helios snickered at the woman. the party was running smoothly with no such interruptions held. Meliosa held a wine glass and offered it to Helios. "care for a drink?" she smiled warmingly but Helios denied her offer and took a glass himself.

"why don't you drink it?" with a glass in his hand, Helios dared the woman to drink the glass she offered but she simply wasted all of the precious wine to a nearby plant.

Helios didn't heed her actions any mind and simply glared at her in question.

"a gathering of higherups will be held in a private mansion held by a Baron. the queen has stated his request to dispatch the Baron with no-fault and secrecy." the party was loud enough for them to be careless as such in these conversations, although, both of them will never have a conversation like this in the first place.

Helios asked the name of the Baron but she simply stated: "no need" with a straight face.

if the queen has asked then the only one who could oppose us such is the Vice.

"I won't oppose the queen for this time, I'll leave everything to the highness' for this time." with his final words, the woman bows and disappears in the crowd.

"another gathering of nobles I see... I wonder how long they will last" Helios gave a grim smile and walk to the balcony unbeknownst to the crowd.

"The sky seems to truly shine when it's the calm before the storm" alcohol on the left. "truly a bliss" he thought to himself while submerging in the calming gusts of wind.

another night. another flawless time passes, as time goes on you are more limited to the decisions you choose.

. . .

midnight passes and the party is slow subsiding into countable numbers. along with this, it seems that both the King of the Humans and the King of Fallen has arrived with hostile aruas.

"well ain't this an amusing sight to behold." Helios slowly stepped into the discord and the hostility suddenly stagnated- no... more like it has become static.

"what's the matter your highness Ferdinand? I assume that you are not disturbing this peaceful party?" Helios called for a drink in the middle of the conversation in front of the king.

in a proper fashion, a Human- wearing a proper amount of iron and leather, aimed the tip of his sword at the neck. "you dare be disrespectful to the king of Man himself!?" with an immediate swing of a sword, he strikes with force but was futile. an inch away from the blade as if it kissed Helios's cheeks harmlessly. blood gushed out from the knight's hand from nowhere, stopping his hand forcefully and restraining him.

"ghu!" his right hand was soon immovable and later on, his entire body was filled with the blood of Helios, stopping him as if he was a mere statue.

"unhand me you Fustilarian!" he screamed with hostile intent. Helios grew tired. yawning and teary-eyed, he then asks both the kings.

"what are you two doing here anyway your highnesses? I don't assume that both of you lot care for such a useless title such as Pothos's promotion am I wrong?"

Helios gave a nonchalant question to the two kings, the Fallen were aware of the question in mind and heeded him no mind but for the king. the Humans, on the other hand, were angered with Helios's question. arming themselves with swords and crossbows prepared to charge the moment the king says so.

the Fallen king speaks first- "dear Vice, I am only here to enjoy such a grandiose of a party of a mere peasant. I assure you I have nothing against a promotion of a comrade of ours."

the king's answer was eerie, the smile on his face showed otherwise of any other plans.

the Human king speaks- "Vice of the Fallen, why are you speaking to a king as if he was lower than you?" Helios perks up. "and why would a Human king would care for such hierarchy?"

the soldiers immediately readied themselves to charge but their king stopped them.

"hoho- forgive me for asking then. I assure you I will do nothing else." the king's reply was immediate. Helios smiled and answered.

"well... I suppose it doesn't matter." Helios sat down in a nearby chair with great prestige. although doing that, the king of Fallen immediately left the vicinity.

with that, almost all of the humans were seemingly transported, encased in the darkness with nothing but red liquid in their feet and dripping down from the never-ending ceiling.

"Knights! stand your grounds!" the moment the king ordered his commands, all of the knights huddled together along with the king in a circle formation. the coordination is top but it won't matter.

"I commend your bravery Human knights. and of course- king of Humans. you're highness Ferdinand.

a silhouette of a man went into frame and sat down in a non-existent chair.

the knights tried to charge but they wouldn't budge. fear of death? cautiousness? or perhaps they prioritize the safety of their king? nay, all of them wouldn't move because of an object.

all of the knights were nearing to collapse because of fear, others stayed their grounds to prove their pride but the king just stood there.

Helios snickered- "I know the king would be delightful to hear the death of the human's leader but I don't think that will serve as entertainment... how about yer knights there? are they free to be strangled to death?"

Helios bickered about multiple torture ideas for them. most of them fainted from fear, the lot was more fond of the idea of living selfishly and leaving their king aside, but one knight in the midst of chaotic fear stood by the side of the king.

"My lord! let me handle this." the blood constraining him subsided but only for him. he was free to move whatever he wanted.

"oho? seems like we have a contender here. let's see..." the blood pool that the king and the knight was stepping on turned into chairs that seems to glisten from an unknown light as if it were rubies finding what little light it can hold.

Helios invited both of them to sit but the knight refused. "relax, relax." Helios smiled as if he was a child, the intense aura that Helios was emitting turned even more chaotic after a sudden personality shift.

before long, more people gathered to see the current chaos, one of them was Pothos, the person who was just promoted by the king.

"my king! why are you simply standing there!?" Pothos yelled at the king as if he was higher than him. though still, the king of Fallen didn't bother.

"Pothos, son, I have no right to intervene in this bout, but if you feel like it, you can but I doubt you'd do anything"

the tension in the room lessened. as the blood room dissipated, what revealed inside it is a group of incapacitated knights, the king, and the Vice.

with a laugh, the king of Fallen returned to the ballroom with the queen while Helios simply walked away leaving the king behind.

"wait-" Pothos charged in the crowd of people but was later stopped by a knight of blood. Leila, the blood knight of Fallen, strongest knight in the king's arsenal.

"Pothos, it is not wise to meet the Vice at such short notice, just look at what happened to the king of the Humans." Pothos looked at the king of Human and she was right, fear was riddled in his eyes.

"I'll give you a fair warning, no being should cross the Vice, not even the dragons themselves." Leila departed with poise, "if you care for your life, never meet him again"

the lobby returned to its usual atmosphere with the king of human resting along its subjects.

"tch-" Helios clicked his tongue in the scene that the Vice created, no being should experience such tortures, death is the easiest escape in life as always in the living. the methodology of the Vice is absurd that even the king should reprimand him and yet-

"why hasn't he been executed by the king!?" his thoughts swirled in his mind but nothing comes out useful.
