Walking towards the pack clinic felt like the longest walk I've ever taken. I was nervous, worried, excited, just too many things in one. I knew Xander was only trying to help but I also knew I had seen a glimpse of her, my mom, in the vision Selena had shown me.
Every member of the pack we passed on our way stopped to congratulate Xander on the success of the mission and cast me pitiful but encouraging looks. It felt like an eternity later when we finally stepped through the doors of the infirmary.
Justin greeted us as soon as we walked in and led us straight to the most secluded room on the second floor of the infirmary. There were guards at the door, who bowed in respect and let us through.
Standing in front of the open door, all my nerves came crashing down and I had only one thought in my mind, she's not dead and that's better than nothing at all. With a sharp inhale and low exhale, I walked into the room and the sight that greeted me had me in tears quickly.
