Chapter 47 - Calm before the storm.

(-April 7, 2061/ 8:51 AM/ Current location: The Orphanage-)

After the quiet burial of Anna, all three of them went back to the living room, Raiden, Filia and Old Keeper contemplated themselves in silence.

The Elf needed power.

The Dragonoid needed purpose.

The Old Keeper needed to redeem himself.

As time passed by, worry struck Old Keeper like lightning.

[Old Keeper: I guess it happened sooner that I thought.]

[Raiden: You knew of it then?]

[Old Keeper: Quite frankly but I excluded a factor in preparations.]

[Raiden: Time right?]

[Old keeper: Correct]

[Filia: Then you must have something that can battle against her then?]

[Old Keeper: Yes indeed and it's more powerful than her but it needs a proper wielder. Of course it's not me. My body is too old for such a task. Although only one person is able to control such a weapon.]

[Raiden: So how does the weapon you speak of function?]

He hesitated to speak. The weapon that he brought with him after the war as a souvenir is locked inside. The fortune that he lost. The one that he had the most hope for has left the Earth. But if the price is right and the cards are properly played then it's worth the shot.

[Old Keeper: I have two weapons in my storage. I want to show them to you but first comes the question.]

[Filia: Speak of it then.]

[Old keeper: How much are you willing to sacrifice for someone dear to you?]

Before they spoke, something came into their mind.

"Sacrifice"

Raiden lived the life of grandeur and wealth, being favored constantly by his fellow Elves. He never had a real friend up until now. For most of his life, "Loss" was just a word for him. Whatever he wanted and needed is always been given, Raiden has lost someone whom he calls a friend.

Filia has molded herself into a cold person. Being an illegitimate child of the Draco household, she has worked more than learned, endured humiliation and ridicule among family members. Causing her to act on instinct and commands from the head of the Household. Ever since meeting Mordred, The cold heart slowly began to thaw and throb again. He was warm when Mordred held her, so she herself must not be distant to him.

So in their minds they declare that they have not lost everything yet. They can still give.

[Filia and Raiden: Everything.]

Their voices clashed upon answering a question. The Old Keepers eyes ignited an old feeling from a past he buried.

[Old Keeper: Is that your final answer?]

[Filia: Definitely.]

[Raiden: Absolutely.]

The Old keeper stood up and told them to follow him. He ripped a paper from a book called: "The Ruler's Mysteries" and proceeded to burn it with his magic.

A hatch opened from under the desk of his living room.

He told them a tale from his past as a high ranking Captain among Charles' Militia while walking down a dark staircase with only his magic as their only source of light.

[Old Keeper: Before the war ever started, Old Keeper, Charles, Anastasia and Alice created a weapon that harnessed that power of laws. Its effect could cut mountains and oceans effortlessly with a half-hearted swing. The mana consumption was too copious to be held by only one person so they split the weapon into two yet only him and his compatriots are the only ones to employ it to battle.]

[Filia: To cut mountains and oceans with one swing is the same amount used to power a continent. So they must be born with that much Mana at their disposal.]

[Old Keeper: You're right and wrong. He was brought into this before even mana ever existed. Thanks to Anastasia, he was gifted with something else other than having mana.]

[Raiden: What is it?]

[Old Keeper: The Intrinsic Aspect: Frisania Magius.]

Frisania Magius.

Something clicked in Raiden's mind when he heard the name. He remembers reading it in the Royal public archives of the United Elven Nations.

[Raiden: Frisania Lux! You're Talking About The Second Traveler of Dimensions!]

Frisania Lux is the 1st daughter of the King of the Royal Kingdom Prima Lux. The Kingdom has fallen after the events of the Magic war and recently reformed into a newly banded empire from former leaders and captains of the war. They called their new home "Chordus Lapidas".

[Filia: Why did the name change from "Lux" to "Lapidas"?]

[Raiden: The previous Kings, Queens, and their heirs fought in all of the battles against the Cataclysm. Because of that, many of the members of the royal family died except for a distant cousin with the last name being "Lapidas". There was so little of what the royal family had branched so when the councils of the old empire finally found the closest to the Royal family. They immediately appointed them as the new Royal family. Hence the name: The New Empire, Chordus Lapidas.]

[Filia: So why is there "Frisania" in the name?]

They finally reached the bottom of the stairs. All that's left is a long hallway.

[Old Keeper: It was to honor her death. Though the effects of the spell remain the same. It was called "Kleidung Herrentöter" before but now it's "Frisania Magius".]

[Raiden: There's so much of what the archive has not yet recorded. This is too interesting to exclude from history.]

[Old Keeper: I'm sure there's a reason for it.]

At the end of the hallway lies a weapon that may surpass the queen of destruction.

(-8:51 AM/ Current location: The Demon king's Forest-)

We're nearly at the top. I have a lot of time to kill before fighting a Kirin. Maybe to a background check first before encountering it. My closest source of info would be Luthien.

[Muto: Hey, Luthien.]

[Luthien: What is it?]

[Muto: What kind of monster is a Kirin?]

[Luthien: I know it only at a basic level.]

[Muto: Lay it on me then.]

Luthien clears her throat and begins to explain.

[Luthien: Kirin is the highest evolution of a horse type monster and is scientifically called "Caballus Fastigium". It's body is as hard as Chrysonite and is as fast as lightning's return stroke.]

[Muto: Fastigium? I didn't know that there are other monster ranks.]

[Luthien: There are only two classifications, the Eastern and Western monster ranking system.]

[Muto: Western is what I don't know but I know the Eastern one.]

(-W/N: Eastern and Western have 7 rankings. Eastern has "Hanyo/Weaker", "Oni/Common", "Yaksha/Greater", "Asura/High", "Yaksha Asura"/ "High Lord'', "Choten/Pinnacle".

Western has "Minor/Weaker", "Norma/Common", "Greta/Greater", "Altum/High", "Dominus/Lord", "Altum Dominus"/ "High Lord", "Fastigium/Pinnacle"-)

[Muto: So what are my chances against a Fastigium?]

[Luthien: You don't have that much of a chance. I have seen far stronger people in my time inside the Elven kingdom yet they can't hold a candle against the human who took back the Kingdom.]

[Muto: You mean the Human named "Arthur Quisano", right?]

[Luthien: I only read it from the books. He has slain an entire race all on his own and nearly decimated a state all in one night. He is feared and unrivaled. Arthur even brought the last generation Elf King to his knees and threatened to eradicate the Kingdom. He did it to several Kingdoms, most notably the Beast Kingdom, where their people favor dying in battle.]

[Muto: So this is before the two worlds merged together.]

[Luthien: Correct.]

The power to destroy an entire race, decimated a state, and brought the very prideful Elf King to his knees. The King of the previous generation is the strongest when it came to magic, No one could match him in battle but for him to fear Arthur Quisano. The Beast King who loved the thrill of battle even became fearful. He must be a necessary existence, far surpassing my own. I wonder what he used to be before he started those events? For now we'll rest for about a few hours or so to regain some mana and energy. We're nearly at the top so it's best to prepare. (Muto)
