CHAPTER XX: Different
I expected my Saturday morning to be beautiful but…
As I peeked outside through my window pane while trying to waken up my senses, I can't see mister Sun. All I can see is how the wind brushes to the leaves of the trees. The sky is also slightly darker than normal.
Maybe it will rain today.
Well, the rain won't stop me and Tyler to go out today!
And I have decided that I will live this day without thoughts about Cameron. We still haven't talked. I would love to talk to him but I think it's better if we distanced from each other for a while. I heard lots of rumors about him and Olivia but maybe, just maybe, they're all just misunderstandings.
We are just technically on a cool-off stage, I think? Because there's no official breakup yet and he just stopped talking to me.
What do you guys think?
Well, back to our topic.
It has been a while since we got time to go out together. We've been busy because we have a lot of school works and never got a chance to hang out at home because we still have to our homeworks right after we arrived at our house.
"Blaire! Come on, we're running late!" Ty shouted while knocking on my door.
"Yes! I'm coming!" I said even though I really am not done yet with my rituals. I just got out of the shower for Pete's sake!
I was already checking myself at my mirror when Tyler came knocking at my door harder than usual. I am wearing an off-shoulder cropped top. I just paired it with mom jeans and rubber shoes so I will be comfortable throughout the whole day.
"Can you please move faster? We're already late, Blaire!" He's probably irritated at me right now. He is very impatient, geez.
So I just grabbed my sling bag then hurriedly went out.
"Do this one more time, Blaire. I will gladly leave you here." Tyler glared at me as I walked towards them.
Mom just came home from her business trip. She's with Tyler at the living room.
"I'm a girl, Ty. I need time to prepare." I rolled my eyes.
"Well, next time, you should wake up 5 in the morning because you are taking more time than normal girls do." He glared at me.
"That is because I am unique." I winked at him playfully.
He was ready to pinch me when mom interrupted.
"Stop it. Just go already, okay? Don't fight so early in the morning." Mom pushed our backs towards the door. She's already sending us off but we still didn't eat yet!
"Mom. We haven't eaten yet." I groaned.
"It's okay. Tyler made a reservation earlier at a restaurant." She laughed.
"Really?" I asked Tyler excitedly.
"Yeah. What do you think?" he rolled his eyes.
"Ooh. Let's go!" I ran to his car.
I really want to go now because it's only once in the blue moon that Tyler would make a reservation at a fancy restaurant. He only did it twice since we started going out every Saturday.
"Come on, open the car already!" I shouted at Tyler who is coolly walking with his hands on his pocket.
He just nodded then clicked his car keys.
I slid inside then made myself comfortable by stretching my legs to the dashboard. He tapped my legs then motioned me to put it down but I don't want to. This is my comfortable position.
"Blaire, stop doing that!" he growled at me.
"I don't want to." I stuck my tongue out and made faces at him.
"Stop or we will just stay here at home!"
I quickly fixed my position because he is freaking scary as hell! If looks can kill, I am probably dead by now. His stares are like knives that's piercing through you. I'm not even looking but I can feel his deadly glares.
"Okay, okay. Chill." I sighed.
"Blaire, you should listen to me sometimes. I'm still your older brother." He said with a firm voice.
"Yes, Tyler. I'm sorry. Love you!" I said in a soft voice. I also pouted to make it a bit convincing while looking at him.
"Yeah. That doesn't sounded sincere." He sighed.
"Fine, Tyler. I'm really sorry. I promise I won't do it again." I clung to his arm. He's trying to shrug it off but I won't budge.
"Okay, fine. Just move aside or we'll get into an accident." I slipped away from him then showered him with flying kisses. He jokingly covered his face with his hands like he was trying to avoid the kisses I gave him.
_____
"What store is next?" Tyler sighed wearily.
We are basically standing at the middle of the mall. We have been roaming around and shopping for almost two hours already.
This is his fault. If he haven't invited me out today, maybe he's just at home, chilling while playing his play station. But he did. So he doesn't have any other choice than to come with me while shopping and paying for it. He's also the one who's bringing all of the items I have bought.
It's all books so he doesn't have to worry.
When shopping, I prefer to shop for books and not for outfits, bags, and shoes that other girls would normally shop for.
"Next up is Book Sale!" I pulled his hand so that he would walk faster.
"Wait, you are really not done yet, aren't you?" he raised his brows at me.
I just pouted and continued pulling him towards our destination. He's resisting but after how many tries, he just let me pull him because I am very persistent.
When we arrived at the store, I removed my hand from his. I ran my index fingers through the books while finding an interesting book. Since I can't find anything in this section that catches my attention, I moved on to the next shelves.
While looking for a book, I noticed a guy who is searching for something in the upper shelf.
He seemed familiar… maybe I have seen him somewhere?
Oh, I know!
He's the one who handed me a hanky at the park!
I moved a little closer to see what genre of book he has been looking.
Oh, he likes non-fictional books, huh? I think he noticed that I have been staring at him because he turned to me with his brows shot up. I quickly tore my gaze off of him and acted like I am busy searching for something.
I felt his intense stare at my back so I decided to turn around and face him.
"What?" I asked innocently.
My palms were already sweating. He haven't done anything to me but his presence intimidates me. I don't know why.
"Nothing." He shook his head but he continued staring at me!
"You keep staring at me! Stop!" I started walking away but before reaching the other set of shelves, I heard him chuckled. That stopped me.
I heard his footsteps nearing me. He stopped when he's already behind me.
My breath hitched when I felt his breath in my ear.
"You're the one who stared at me first, Miss Crybaby."
Wait, what?
"I am not a crybaby!" I gritted my teeth as I faced him.
"Really?" he smirked. I felt my cheeks burning because of irritation.
"You just saw me cry once and you're calling me a crybaby?" I run my fingers through my hair out of irritation. This jerk!
"Well, you look like it to me." He clicked his tongue.
"By the way miss, you should return my hanky." He added.
Oh right.
"Well, I didn't have it with me today." I played with my fingers.
His hanky is just plain white but it is embroidered with a letter K in black. I'm curious on what it stands for. Maybe his name?
"It's okay. Just give it back to me when we meet again." He placed his hands at the pocket of his hoodie.
"And when is that?" I raised a brow at him.
"I don't know. We'll see." He chuckled.
I sighed.
"Then how am I supposed to return it to you?"
"Just bring it always." He said.
"What for?" I curiously asked.
"Because we never know when we'll meet again." He looked away.
For a second, I thought that he'll ask for my number for us to meet when we're free but I was wrong.
He's different, huh?
"Y-Yeah, o-okay… I'll keep that in mind." I gave him a small smile to hide the embarrassment I'm feeling with my own thoughts.
"Until then." He patted my head as he bid his goodbye.
I was stunned for a second so I wasn't able to reply on what he just said. I just came back to my senses when Tyler snapped his fingers in front of me.
"Hey. Come on, we're going to go home now. You haven't bought anything. Geez, Blaire." He started walking towards the exit and I have no choice but to follow him.
What's happening to me? Why am I stunned for a moment?
Maybe because he's annoying. Nothing else.
But on top of that, he's also very diffe-… ugh, nevermind.
