Kyle's POV
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN DEVYN IS MISSING?!" Erik roared through the phone. Devyn went into the gas station to get some snacks and she stil hasn't come back yet. I went inside to ask the sales clerk if they saw anything.
"I think i may have seen a guy who looked to be about your height but like 200 pounds with a real scraggly beard carrying a girl bridal style who was like passed out through the back exit like not even 10 minutes ago, dude." The guy, who looked to be about 18 said to me.
"You didn't think that was weird?!" I growled. His eyes got wide when he realized his mistake.
"N-No sir. I honestly thought maybe she was asleep or uh she had a medical condition? We have customers use the back entrance all the time, man!" He stuttered. I growled again, slamming my hands against the table and walked out.
"No, not missing. I think she was taken. But I have a guess on who." I said through gritted teeth.
I never wanted to see him again, let alone talk to him.
"Kyle, who the hell do you think took my sister?" he asked slowly as if he were trying to calm himself down. I know he doesn't want to lose her again; we're both walking on thin ice here.
"Who do you know of that's been trying to get me to talk to him and that would stoop as low as kidnapping the girl I love?"I growled. I hate him so much.
"Your father?" he guessed. Erik knows a good bit about my father. How I witnessed my own mothers murder by his hand. My father doesn't know I saw but I did. I saw every bit and I have hated him for that to this very day.
"Exactly. I will get Devyn back. If he has her, I will make it known that she's not slipping away from either of us this easily."
"Where do you think she's at?"he whispered. He's worried.
"I don't know but I will find out. I gotta go. I have to find her." I said and quickly hung up with Erik to text him.
Kyle: If you have her, don't you dare hurt her. I'll come to you or meet you or whatever you want. Just don't hurt her. I'll be at The Outskirts Diner in Phoenix until 3pm if you want to meet. Bring her.
Dad: Okay. Meet at 2:30pm. Will bring Devyn.

I had been sitting at the table for over thirty minutes, waiting. It was close to 2:30 and I heard tires screeching, pulling into the parking lot. I waited for them to enter the establishment and to bring Devyn inside, but the only person who entered was my father. I opened my mouth to speak but he held up a hand, silencing me. "The girl is in the car. I had her stay outside. I want your full undivided attention." He explained. I nodded in understanding and glanced once more out to the car finally seeing the beanie that Devyn always wears sticking about from atop the dashboard. Pleased with that, I drew my attention back to my father. He opened his mouth to begin, but this time I held up my hand and cut him off.
"Before you start, I have a question. Why did you kill my mother, your wife, supposed love of your life?" I asked and his eyes got huge.
"H-How did you know?" He asked when he regained his composure.
"I was there. I saw it." I said.
He sighed and said, "This will be a long story but the first thing you should know is that you can't trust any of the Walters." He said. There wasn't anyone I trusted more than Devand Erik. I looked back at the man sitting in front of me and motioned for him to continue with his story.

"So let me get this straight, you murdered, not only my mother, but Devyn's too and caused her father to go crazy? And you still expect me not to trust them?" I asked and he nodded. "If anything I can't trust you. Devyn and Erik haven't done anything. If anything, I'm glad I met Erik. I'm lucky to have actually met the girl I was meant to spend forever with. So I listened. Now, Devyn and I have a long drive ahead of us." I said standing up and walking out of the diner. I walked out to the car where Devyn was; I opened the door to where she was, expecting her to react. She didn't do anything.
"Princess." I said to get her attention. There still was no reaction.
What is going on?
"Princess I know there's nothing on that floorboard that is interesting enough to keep you from talking to me." I told her, folding my arms over my chest. She finally looked up at me. Her green eyes held so much pain, so much regret. I had to wonder what all my father told her.
"I know." She said.
"Then what's wrong?"
"Just take me home. Back to Miss Donna's." she said and she has no idea how much that hurt.
Devyn's POV
I forced the words out. I knew it hurt him but it's better than him saying the words I've dreaded hearing all day. That his dad was right and that he doesn't trust me anymore. That he hates me.
"No. If we leave now, we're going straight to Georgia. Enough of this Devyn. Now, it's in your best interest to tell me what the heck is wrong with you." He said.
"Just say the words, and stop pretending to care. I know you think your father's right. That you can't trust us. That you h-hate me." I said with tears already forming in my eyes bracing me for the words. I looked back at the floor of the car and waited. Suddenly there was a hand under my chin pulling my face up to look at Kyle.
"Princess, there is no one in my life that I trust more than you and Erik. Nothing's going to change that. My father can make up all the stories he wants, but that's not going to change the way I feel about you. I don't hate you. I don't even think I could hate you." He said and that wasn't even what I was expecting. I still had tears spilling over, but I couldn't stop them. He wiped the tears from my eyes and kissed my forehead.
"C'mon, let's go home." He said and for once I was okay with not sticking my ground.
On the way home things were awkward. I didn't know what to say and from the looks of it Kyle didn't either.
"Devyn, I'm sorry about my father. If I had any idea that he was in Arizona we could have avoided all of this and..." He said after many hours of driving.
"Kyle, stop. You didn't know, and I'm not mad at you. It was a simple mistake. Don't blame yourself." I cut him off and tried my best to demolish the awkward tension between us. Sadly, after I cut him off silence overwhelmed us once again. After many moments I sighed and asked the question I knew Kyle was waiting on hearing and I was dreading to ask.
"Kyle what are we?"
"What do you mean Princess?" he asked innocently.
"Are we friends? Friends with benefits? Something more?" I asked.
"I was planning on waiting until we made it back to ask. I had a big dinner idea, but since you've asked I guess it wouldn't be much of a surprise for you."He rambled.
"What are you rambling about Kyle?" I asked.
"Devyn, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked and I couldn't speak. "You're not talking. That's not a good thing. Oh god, you're going to say no aren't you? I knew I shouldn't have asked yet." He started rambling again.
"Kyle. Stop rambling. You just shocked me. Of course I'll be your girlfriend." I said when I found my words. His face broke out into the biggest grin and I knew in this moment that falling for my brother's best friend was not a mistake. It was the best thing that could have happened to me.
