Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Standing before the Hou family elder is a young man. His looks can be described as refreshing but mature with his metal rim glasses.

"Why would someone such as yourself seek out an old man like me? How many hundreds of years since the last deity came to the Hou family?" The elder does not bother to open his eyes from his mediation.

"Initially my decision to come here was to ask for your Hou family to help me find someone, but then she turns out to be one of yours." He grins ever so slightly. "What a coincidence, or maybe not." He pivots to walk out only to be stopped.

"Wait." The Hou family head calls out. "You must not." With an eyebrow arch up, the young man goes to ask,

"Why not?"

"Because she does not remember you. Her world and yours are different." At those words, he stood slightly shocked but it was an expected result so not much surprise followed.

"Doesn't matter."

"Since ancient times, morals and the divine are forbidden to love and undergo the vows of matrimony. You clearly know this." The elder tries reasoning with the handsome youth. At this he grins.

"But your Hou family is different. The clan of historians set outside the laws of Heaven and Earth because the Hou family is not completely mortal. Descendants of the God of human fate, Siming herself. Besides, I have no such intentions."

"That child is ..."

"I know." He smiles at the thought of reuniting.

The old man sighs helplessly.

"I see there is no way to stop you." The young man nods. "But I am warning you, even if her memories return, her feelings towards you are not certain to have remained."

"I wronged her twice already, there will not be a third. All I want to do is to protect her. Thank you Elder for your advice." He takes his leave.

CuiXiu arrives back at campus by 6, the sky is getting dark but there is still plenty of time before the dorm curfew so she decides to get a quick dinner at her usual spot near her college.

"Auntie, I want a bowl of beef noodles!" She calls out to the owner auntie.

"Okay! Xiao Xiu, I thought you were visiting home."

"En, I went and came back because I really wanted to eat a bowl of your handmade noodles."

"Ayo! Look at how you talk." CuiXiu smiles widely at the auntie.

Finishing her food, CuiXiu pays for the bowl of noodles and says goodbye to the auntie. She then notices a new store across the street. Walking over, there is a Help Wanted sign on the window. A tea shop? Was this store here before? Deciding to come back tomorrow after class, CuiXiu goes back to her dorm with the discovery of a possible workplace close by her school.
