"Vi...Vivi...Vivian..wake up!" A woman's voice got louder by each seconds passed, waking up to a frequent shaking on the shoulder..Adeleine slowly adjusted her sight to the scenery.
"ngh...h..is this heaven..?" she mutters, earning a light smack on the head from the woman that woke her up. "Vivian stop slacking around! Did you think I wouldn't find you?!" Adeleine looked up to the speaking person, a confused looked was evident on her face.
'Vivian...who?'
'And why is she wearing maid dress?'
'Why am I on the grass?'
She was brought back to reality when the woman harshly grabbed her by the arm, forcing her to stand on her two feet.
'Why is she being rough? What did I do?'
Quickly taking back her arm from the woman, she questioned "Excuse me, who are you to grab me like that?" glaring at the woman infront of her.
SMACK
The Woman's hand quickly landed on her cheek, making both her cheek and palm red by how strong that slap was.
Adele realize she wasn't just dreaming, well...she already knew it when the woman grabbed her...but the slap served as a reality check on her.
"You've become quite brave just because you got assigned as a nanny. Don't you ever forget that you're still a mere servant." the woman glared before pushing her glasses up.
'mere servant..ugh, she's really into her role..'
"I'm sorry miss glasses whom I do not know of, but this girl here doesn't quite understand what you are saying.." She said in a polite manner, her body seemingly knowing what to do, she bowed.
The woman raised her eyebrows, going much more higher than it already is, "Did you hit your head while serving the young mistress or something?" She asked making Adele annoyed.
'wasn't she the one who hit me..?'
"Vivian! There you are!" A child like voice was heard from afar, Adele raised her head and looked at the child that was running towards them.
"Young Mistress! That's unladylike!" The woman with glasses panicked but the child paid no mind to her and clung herself onto Adele.
"You suddenly went missing...hic...and I thought...You left me...hic.." The girl with soft blonde hair sobbed, looking up to Adele, her clear blue eyes was filled with tears.
Seeing the child that was crying infront of her, she felt a pang of guilt for the child. "Now now...don't stain your cute cheeks with tears..Ad-- Vivian won't leave." she soothingly said, calming the crying child.
Judging by looks, the child appeared to be around five to six. Adele sighed, confused by what was happening infront of her.
A few minutes ago she got slapped by an unknown woman, now she's carrying a child that was crying before.
Time flew by so fast when she was taking care of the child, fortunately she wasn't able to encounter the woman with glasses during that time.
She also met new people in the Manor, for example, Julianna that reminded her of Julie and Harriet that talked as if there was no tomorrow, thanks to Harriet, Adele was able to learn what to do and the names of the family members they served under.
Hanging the last clean bedsheet, she smiled to herself, feeling a bit proud for accomplishing a small task.
"So this is where you are, I'm a bit surprised you still know how to do proper chores.." The woman with glasses, known as the Head Maid, Maria, said.
Adele or Vivian, panicked for a bit before remembering what Harriet said...and that is to politely greet the Head Maid whenever you come across her.
"G-Greetings...Head Maid.." She stuttered, inwardly screaming at herself for it.
"But you need to work on your manners, I don't want to get shamed on for leaving a mannerless maid to take care of the young mistress." Maria bluntly said, pushing her jet black hair back, she lightly tapped the shoulder of the maid that bowed infront of her. Signalling to stand up straight.
"Dismiss every work you have in the afternoon and meet me in the library for your lessons." Vivian mentally sighed and waited for the Head Maid to leave.
'Why is she so meticulous about my every move..'
She then grabbed the empty basket and walked off to our room, it was already getting late in the afternoon...purple and blue hues slowly appeared in the sky..
"Gosh! I feel like I stretched my body once again!" Harriet said, walking in on our shared room, laying her body on her bed once she got a glimpse of it.
"What are you doing Vivi? Why aren't you resting?" She asked, her purple eyes filled with confusion, as if this was something new.
"Oh...? Nothing...just reading?" Vivian replied, continuing to read the book she borrowed before coming to the room.
"But you can't read...didn't you said this last time?" Harriet asked.
The red haired maid looked at Harriet with a puzzled look, "What do you mean I'm illiterate..?" She mutters, looking at the words she can understand.
She, herself, also didn't knew why she can read...
'I'm guessing the actual Vivian was literate..but that's too far of a stretch..'
"There you two are! We need more help in the kitchen! The Duke is suddenly visiting!" A maid with twin braids announced, looking at each other for a second, Vivian and Harriet hurriedly stood up and followed the fellow maid with twin braids.
