Chapter 36 - Sly Fox

Chapter 36

viLelouch's POV

"LET'S GIVE THIS FATE— A CHANCE"

The words stuck on Lou's mind that they never faded the entire time she was picking clothes to fill up her wardrobe.

She was humming— humming all the while in the fitting room.

'hahaha'

After sometime of hopping from one store to another, they were finally done.

"I remembered that I signed up myself for a pizza, not a porter," Lou frowned, lifting all the overflowing shopping bags in both of her hands as soon as they got out of the last store.

"Are you complaining?"

"Nope, I'm just saying."

"Really?" Alexa scrutinized. "Tell me that after you wipe that frown on your face."

'hahaha'

[******************]

Lou was bouncing in bed when she woke up the next morning.

It was a lovely day, as lovely as her fluttering heart.

'hahaha'

She was humming, whistling with strides lighter than ever as she took her steps down going to the kitchen and that— did not pass unnoticed to Sylvia.

"Look who's having a good night sleep," the chef teased, knowing exactly why.

Lou chuckled and gave the woman a warm smile in response. Sylvia then handed her a pancake as she slid down the counter.

"I just had the best date of my life," Lou spoke with pride.

The chef shook her head, amused of the dreamy youth in front of her.

But before Lou could finish her seconds of pancake, a familiar horn honked outside. The girl sprung in her seat, thanked Sylvia, bid her goodbye in haste and ran out to the front door.

She sure very well remembered how her mate hates waiting.

'hahaha'

There stood the gorgeous Alexa, her back on the car door, playing in circle the toes of her shoe on the ground.

"Good morning, beautiful," Lou greeted, smiling, warmth sipped through it.

Her mate responded a smile with the same amount of warmth as hers; that smile she has not gotten used to seeing— yet, that lovely smile she would love to see for the rest of her days.

With quick reflexes, she caught the car key before it landed right on her face when Alexa tossed it without warning.

"I see that you are not a morning person," Alexa said, fastening her seatbelt.

"I am— from now on," Lou winked, while igniting the engine to start. "Especially now— that I have you to make meaningful memories with."

'ayiiiee'

'There you go Alexa, calm your heart.'

'hahaha'

Noticing the red taint on Alexa's cheeks, Lou pressed on with her teasing, "And I like it when you blush like that."

'damn'

That earned her a glare from the blushing girl.

Well, Alexa was just really trying to save her ego, not admitting in front of Lou, how bad the effect of her mate on her.

'hahaha'

"I know how to drive," Lou diverted but still with that mischievous grin on. "So rest assured."

"I won't give you the key if I don't trust your driving," Alexa said in a stern voice, still with a flushed cheeks.

"I'm a good driver," Lou pressed on, throwing side glances at her mate, she was already driving down the road.

But really, she was just only trying to make the conversation alive as Alexa seemed to have decided to give her a silent treatment all ride.

"I know," her mate deadpanned, eyes outside her side of the window.

"How so?"

"You already have proven that to me," another cold answer.

'hahaha'

Lou's eyes barely glanced at Alexa by then as they have entered a busy road, and with brows furrowed in confusion, "I can't remember when was that as this is my first time driving ever since coming here."

With a lazy movement, Alexa shifted on her seat, faced her mate, and the back of her head leaned back on the wind shield.

This time, she had that mischievous grin Lou has earlier, plus narrowed eyelids.

She could not stop grinning of what she was about to say, "You safely drove your way right to my heart, Louchie."

"Isn't that proof enough?"

'boom'

'hahaha'

Lou almost had a heart attack. The car wiggled on the road for a moment. She had to hunch over the steering wheel. Gaining the controls back, her neck snapped to her mate with utter disbelief.

She was speechless, heart raced only to be laughed at. Alexa's giggle filled the car by then.

And when Lou could not be more surprised, Alexa leaned closer to her side. A few strands of wavy hair hung low, there was that sparkling eyes of mischief and that smirk across the face: daring.

'yeah'

'daring'

Lou found the girl daring in that moment.

"Did I just made your heart to flutter, huh?"

'damn'

Lou cracked a forced laugh in response. She could sense the pride in the tone of Alexa's, like she got the upper hand in the situation.

"O...Of course— not," Lou denied, stuttering.

'hahaha'

"Huh," Alexa huffed, leaned back to her seat, eying her mate.

"Talk after calming down that heart," she pointed.

'sly'

'hahaha'

Lou buried her face on the steering wheel in defeat, then focussed her eyes on the road after, avoiding Alexa's teasing gazes.

When she finally calmed herself down, she broke Alexa's giggles, "Will you always be like this?"

"Like what?"

"From a grumpy cat to a sly fox."

"How dare you—," Alexa hissed. "I'm a wolf, just so you know."

"I know, and just so you know, I like this new you."

And suddenly, Alexa was caught off guard when in a swift move, Lou placed a hand under her chin, tugged her face forward, two green forest eyes stared right through hers.

Her breath caught in her throat, her heart fluttered and all other senses went into panic.

There was heat, slowly incinerating inside her as Lou's hot breath lingered above her lips.

"I'm holding steady Alexa."

"My heart is at home with yours, and no— I don't mean to change you."

"If you wake up each day feeling different, closer— closer to the woman you are meant to be, then that's another reason for me to keep holding on, another reason for me to love you harder."

"I'm going to love you Alexa, like—"

"... like the flowers love the spring,"

"... like the dry grounds love the rain,"

"... and like the waves love the shore."

"I love you Alexa."

"I love you beyond measure."

To say that Alexa just went red would be an understatement. She was burning and fuming with all the heat she was feeling inside.

"Hmmm, did your heart just fluttered right now?"

'oh goddess, Lou'

Throwing back the exact words of Alexa awhile ago.

'hahaha'

The sarcasm did not pass unheard of course.

Hence, not wanting to surrender anytime soon, Alexa leaned in closer, met Lou's gaze head on, then ran it down to Lou's parted lips and bit her own right after— in a really suggestive way.

Smirking, "Now tell me, who's truly the sly fox here Louchie," she dared.

'hahaha'
