Qi Cheng panted and ran as fast as he could, following behind him were a group of gangsters wielding knives and rods. People parted and made way for them afraid that they would be swept in their dangerous fight.
No one came forward to help the teenager who was running away from people who were twice his stature. They selfishly wanted the teenager to move away from them not wanting to be involved in it.
Qi Cheng could feel his thundering heartbeat and messy breathing. He didn't dare to slow down as he sharply turned around a corner.
He made an instantaneous decision and entered the park. He really hated his cheap father, because of his debt he had to be chased around time and again. His father had no conscience as a parent.
~
Sun was filtering through the leaves casting mottled shadows and a dim figure was surrounded by flowers with his back toward him.
Qi Cheng expressionlessly ran while squinting his eyes at the familiar figure.
The figure suddenly turned around as if sensing his presence. His breathing got chaotic looking at the youth against the sunlight covered in a golden halo.
Qi Cheng was going to bypass him but he was grabbed by his arms and pulled behind the juvenile. His was washed over with a sense of helplessness and his face paled.
The people stopped before them with a violent look. They kept staring at Li hoping their gaze would pass through him and pierce the teenager behind him.
They stood deadlocked without anyone moving for a few minutes before the gangsters took the initiative to talk.
"Why are you hiding behind someone like a woman. Come here and show us your gut for being a man"
"Give him to us" Someone shouted at Li when they noticed that Qi Cheng wasn't paying attention to them
"Hurry up"
Li raised an eyebrow somewhat amused While Qi Cheng struggled to get out of his grip. He didn't want to involve Li in his problems after getting so much help from him. He didn't want to return the kindness with ill will like an ungrateful bastard.
"You want him ?" Li casually asked them.
"His father lost everything in a gamble, he even gambled on his son and lost. Now, he is our property."
"Yeah, he is our property."
"He was sold to us."
"Give him back and we'll not touch you."
The people voiced out one after another. Though they were a little sympathetic it wasn't bigger than their greed for money. The boy looked tender and flawless if they could sell him then they would surely earn a large amount of cash.
"Oh~" Li dragged the end meaningfully. It had been so long since someone challenged him. His words held absolute authority, No one dared to go against it. Everyone followed it like a supreme law. " Then get him from me."
Li was in a good mood when he realized that Lin Fan was missing in the morning knowing that the surveillance was over.
Though he couldn't get Lin Fan to sleep on the floor as Xu Feiqun left his bed for the man, Li still enjoyed annoying the straight-faced man but it looked like god wasn't so happy to let him spend the day so ordinarily in high spirits so he sends these idiots to interfere.
The gangsters were agitated after listening to his provocation. Who could remain cool minded hearing the provocations from a kid who they thought as weak?
"I think he looks familiar." A man frowned trying to remember where he had seen the youth who had a slight smile on his face like a spring breeze.
"Who cares where you saw him. It doesn't matter, I am going to rub his face on the floor until he cries for his mother." A thin yellow-haired man shouted savagely, apparently being the leader of the small group.
"...Wait, don't fight." The man tried to persuade but it was too late. He had a feeling that the youth was dangerous, very dangerous.
No one bothered to listen to the man. They cornered the two teenagers leaving the man who had a bad premonition to remember on his own.
Qi Cheng nervously gripped the corner of Li's shirt. "I am willing to go with you but you can't harm him."
"How can we leave just like that ?"
"Yeah, How dare he question our boss strength."
"Who the hell does he think he is to challenge our boss."
The lackeys started threatening them from left and right giving no chance for their boss to speak. The yellow-haired man could only follow along with them.
"Fuck! I don't ever go back on my words like I said I'm going to rub his face on the floor."
Qi Cheng bit his lip and hung his head down in frustration. He only brought trouble to his benefactor. His eyes were starting to gather mist as negative emotions brewed within him.
Suddenly, he felt a warm sensation on the crown of his head that dispelled his thoughts.
Li sighed and patted his (QC) head. When he saw Qi Cheng looking up at him with misted eyes, his heart couldn't help but soften. "You don't have to worry about me. You didn't forget that I have a side job for being a gangster, right?"
"Leave it to me."
Li's soft voice soothed Qi Cheng's inner turmoil and his restless heart settled down. Instead, he had an impulse to laugh when he registered Li's words.
