So maybe not everything is as normal as it seems. Maybe the world has a number of layers that the human eye cannot see. But maybe if you focus on things in a different perspective, you might be able to see through the layers of reality.
Oh don't mind me. I'm just rambling on and on because I don't have much to do. This is just me talking to myself and imagining if the world was a different place with a different reality. Why? Because normal is overrated, normal is boring. I don't actually have the ability to focus on things really. It's just me and my imagination soaring really really high and trying to have an adventurous life. But alas! Earth doesn't provide you with such high standards of living.
Forget about that! My vacations start in like two weeks and then finally I can just have the whole house to myself and chill like I have all the time in the world. But for that I need to pass through two weeks of school.
You might think, how long could that be? But trust me, with the sort of people in my town you can never guess what's going on in their heads. So I had to put up with really nosy neighbours, walk two blocks to school, deal with annoying teachers, try to figure out how to get out of plans with my friends and stock up my home with snacks so I don't have to get out of the house during my vacations.
Damn that was a lot. But the weird thing about it all was the high levels of adrenaline I was experiencing. I'm a lazy ass so me experiencing rushes of adrenaline was something out of the blue. But that wasn't all. It was almost summer and my room was suddenly chilled like Antarctica. I don't know why but I felt like my entire surrounding was kinda separate from the others; like a cool aura had surrounded me and was constantly keeping me cool.
So I chalked it up to good luck and got on with my day. I was currently in science class while the teacher was droning on and on about some part of the human brain while I was imagining different scenarios about me having magical powers and saving other people.
Once the class was over I found my closest friend Cleo who was talking with some guy. Cleo was a much more people person than me. I mean I tried to get out of conversations as much as possible. The only person I did converse with was Cleo.
Stuffing my books back into my locker I pulled out my Math textbook and waited for Cleo to finish talking with the guy. They exchanged pleasantries while I kept on rocking against the lockers and looking around at what people were doing.
The school's resident bad boy, Luke Walker was walking along with his friends in the hallway and laughing loudly along them when a strong burst of wind came in through the doors and sent almost all loose papers flying. Everyone stopped to look at from where the strong breeze had come from.
When realising that it was just a freak accident everyone resumed their ongoing work or conversation. Odd, if you ask me. But I didn't pay much attention. The guy who was talking with Cleo finally walked away and then Cleo turned to me.
"Oh my God! I thought he was never gonna leave!" Cleo groaned in relief.
"Well hello to you too." I laughed.
"David has been trying to talk to me all year. He finally gets a chance and he doesn't ever leave me alone." Cleo complained. I looked over to the David guy talking along with his other friend occasionally glancing in our direction every now and then.
"I think he likes you." I told her as she removed books from her locker.
"Puhhleease! He doesn't like me." Cleo defended.
"Judging from the number of times he's looking at you while talking to his friends kinda proves my point." I said eyeing David who yet again looked in our direction.
"Oh my God is he really looking over here?" Cleo asked softly, looking at me.
"Cleo, he's fifty feet away, he can't hear you." I chided.
"Maybe he's got eagle ears or something and can actually hear our conversation." Cleo teased.
My over imaginative tendencies rubbed off on Cleo whenever she was with me. So talking about fantasies was kind of our thing and Cleo always played along with me.
"So tell me, is he looking now?" Cleo asked as we headed towards math class.
I sneaked a peek over my shoulder and caught David looking at us. He quickly looked away when I caught him looking at us. I chuckled and turned back.
"Yep! He's definitely looking." I smiled at Cleo.
"I'm not falling for yet another jock this time. Too much heartbreak." Cleo said.
"Not all jocks are the same. You never know when one might like something other than the game." I joked.
"Oh let them dream about something else than the game. And if it catches my interest then and only then will I acknowledge them." Cleo said.
"So no guys till one has a soul." I said.
"You're damn right you are." Cleo gave me a fist bump and we laughed together.
Math class was another one of those classes that just didn't seem to get over too soon. But today's class was a little bit boring. The weather seemed to be playing tricks on everyone today.
This morning a strong burst of wind just came through the doors. Now the temperature was just rising too high. I know that summer was just around the corner but it was too damn hot. The fans weren't doing much to help us get rid of the hotness. But the strange thing was that out of us twenty people only one person wasn't feeling hot at all.
Sam Jackson of our class just didn't feel the rising temperature and was actually just sitting without any effect on him. The hot weather wasn't affecting him one bit. While the rest of us were sweating, he just sat there without a drop of sweat on him. That was just weird. So when it was lunch break Cleo and I were sitting at our usual table at the edge of the whole lunchroom.
After a few minutes into lunch the air turned electric. Like somehow there was a charge in the air that was indescribable. I just couldn't find out why though.
After lunch the air seemed to calm down. There was no charge or electricity or whatsoever. But that nagging feeling still lingered that something was off.
The rest of the day didn't seem to have any other odd events. It passed by quite uneventfully. When I returned home and shut the door, a cool breeze flitted past me.
The only thing that wasn't odd was that my dad wasn't home. He was always out on business and I only ever got to see him properly on weekends.
So I went about the house in search of food to find some chip packets and sit down with my homework. While trying to do my homework my mind kept flitting to all the events that had taken place.
It was just unusual for such things to happen on a school day. It didn't add up and it was eating away at me. Looking down at my homework I lifted my hand to write the essay but stopped when I saw my pen.
There was a layer of melting frost on the pen in my hand. I put the pen down and the layer of ice quickly melted leaving the spot of paper wet under the pen. I took the pen again in my hand and then saw that there was a layer of frost forming on the pen once again.
How was this happening? There was absolutely no way there could be ice on my pen.
I put the pen down again and turned my palm face up to look at it. It was my normal hand with no sign of ice whatsoever.
So being the experimental person that I am I slid my finger across the paper slowly and gasped in surprise when I saw a line of frost trailing my finger.
This was freakishly freaky. No one could produce ice. Or any other element for that matter. Touching things rapidly and setting them down again I saw that all the things I had touched had a layer of frost over them which was slowly melting.
"Holy crap!" I cursed. I picked up the pen again and this time I held it in my hand for a longer amount of time. The frost spread so quickly over the pen and covered it completely until the entire pen had the insides turning into ice as well. Being so fascinated by it I didn't realise that the pen had started to shake in my hand until it exploded into tiny pieces hitting me in the face as well.
I flinched as the pieces fell onto the floor. "Well that was stupid." I muttered.
What I needed to find out now was why this was happening to me in the first place. I picked up my phone and then quickly sat it down in fear of it frosting over as well. Surprisingly it didn't have any frost over it. So I picked it up again to dial Cleo's number but then stopped again.
What was I even going to tell her? Oh hi Cleo, I somehow have superpowers and I can freeze things with a touch, want to come see? Yea, I didn't see how that would work in my favour.
Who could I even talk to? What would I even tell them? I was in some deep shit this time and I had no clue how to deal with this anymore. Coffee was the only thing that helped me think in these situations. So I did the only thing I could do at that moment. I headed to the Brew to get some coffee.
