Chereads / Doomsday Survival System / Chapter 17 - 17: Let's go!

Chapter 17 - 17: Let's go!

"Are you crazy!? you want us to jump off the building!? you're basically just telling us to die!! I knew I shouldn't have followed you guys back up here!"

"Oh yeah? well, you can stay here if you wish, but don't expect the monsters to give you a warm welcome."

As soon as Sage completed his warning, the sound of monsters approaching got louder.

"Mark let's go!"

Sage climbed up to the edge of the terrace, with his hands in his pockets he faced the group, smirked and plunged himself down the building.

(*screams*)

The people screamed out in fear, but Mark swiftly followed suit by being the next person to jump. As both Sage and Mark fell down the building, Logia complained.

'Sage are you insane!?'

'I know I am, but I'm sure this is the right exit!'

At the same time, Mark also spoke out.

"Sage, I hope this is the right decision!"

"It's alright, Mark, just trust me."

They were close to the bottom, nearly reaching the end of their fall.

"Sage are you sure we're not plunging to our deaths!?"

"Sigh, Mark you worry too much, look beneath you."

Sage pointed towards the ground below them, there was a thick gust wind that was ready to pocket them from the fall.

"See!?"

They safely landed on the ground. They completed the mission.

[ Reward >Your life ]

[You have survived the dungeon]

A second screen morphed before Sage.

[You have received the title 'Leader' ]

[ You have received the title 'Fearless']

Meanwhile, the others were stuck in an illusion. A boundary between the exit and the dungeon didn't permit them to see what was really happening down there, instead, they were shown a mirage. Showing that both Sage and Mark had fallen to their demises.

"I see them they're covered in blood! They are so foolish! I suggest we go back down the building."

The adult wanted to take advantage of the current situation, making the people turn to him for help. But all the young teenagers were brave enough to jump the building.

"Ah, those idiots, let them plunge to their deaths, who will come with me?"

There was no one who was willing to follow him, they all pursued the same actions as what the teenagers did. Try jumped off.

"They are all idiotic, now I'm all alone and I was going to use them as meat shields, Damn it!"

He ventured back down to the twentieth floor, where they departed from. He slowly walked down to the twenty-first floor, as he got closer to the floor, he could see the corpses of the other group.

He saw bones and organs dispersed around the area, blood dripping from the walls. And he could hear a big crunch sound. and some screaming.

(*crunch*)

(*Crack*)

(*scream*)

It was a staggering monster devouring a human as its meal. The scream from the human sounded unendurable as their leg was bitten off by the monster. An Orange screen materialized before the adult.

[*Your level is currently too low to face this monster*]

The man broke into a cold sweat. Using a panicked tone, he began to deny what he could see treating it as a nightmare.

"Th...this is all a dream right!? By tomorrow I'll go back to being a company president and everything would be back to normal right?"

The orc got closer to the man and took him by the head, it glared at him as he shouted for help, and finally, it crushed his head as if it were crushing a tomato.

On the other hand, the people who jumped off the building safely landed on the ground and successfully completed the mission.

"Alright everyone, it's time to go our separate ways."

"What!? Sage, you can't leave them like this, I get it for the adults but there are kids here who don't even know where their parents are!"

"Mark! are you forgetting that we're kids ourselves? how do you suppose we take care of everyone? do you know the responsibility that comes with your words?"

Sage was right, A normal teenager couldn't bear the heavy responsibility of taking care of others, well that was if Sage was normal.

'Logia, I just got a title that says leader could I perhaps use it to lead the kids.'

'Well, I guess, but are you sure you want to take them in? they could not only be a hindrance but also a weakness.'

'As your successor, it is my duty to save humanity, right?'

'Ah! do whatever you want.'

Sage sighed deeply and continued his conversation with Mark.

"Fine, but I'm only taking the children the adults can fend for themselves."

"Seriously? thanks so much, Sage."

The adults had no problem with the decision he made.

"Let's go!"

And so, everyone went their separate ways. Sage led everyone to the apartment he discovered.

"Alright find a room to stay in, you're responsible for your own well being here. The world has changed, it now only contains the strong, it is survival of the fittest."

After Sage's terrible yet inspiring speech everyone dispersed. Mark followed Sage into his room, they sat and commenced their conversation.

"Sage, you know something, don't you? everything up until now, leading the group, understanding words that no human can comprehend. Sage, what's going on?"

Sage sat in complete silence, he was consulting with Logia.

'Logia should I tell him?'

'Well, it's up to you, he does look extremely loyal and trustworthy to me.'

'That's right, he has been a loyal and trusting friend to me ever since I knew him.'

As they conversed a green screen morphed in front of Sage. It was Mark's status.
