Flames are burning, smoke flooding the atmosphere. Small eyes are awakening; a little boy wakes up, witnessing a man wearing blue clothes killing his family. The shrieks and cries become silent, leaving his parents lifeless.
The man wearing blue turns out to be a cop. He has a sinister smirk on his face, eyeing the little boy like a hawk. He walks closer to the little boy in the wrong way. He squats down to meet the same height range.
The policeman is talking, but the little boy is too afraid to pay attention to his face or voice. But the little boy did hear the cop refer to him as "N." He opens the little boy's mouth and grabs his tongue. He is holding a sharp object, which came closer and closer to his tongue. Tears fall down his tiny eyes. The policeman is about to slice his tongue in half until...
Red eyes are glowing in the dark, and a wail burst out of nowhere.
********
N's POV
I wake hyperventilating and wailing inside my coffin. I forcefully open the casket, and the room is dark. Checking the time, and it reads 8:00 pm. I should celebrate that I made it through another night, but I hate waking up because of nightmares, mostly the same one about that cop.
But I have no time to get angry or scared; I needed to do my regular night routine.
I get up from my coffin; then I closed it—putting it back in the closet. Head to the bathroom and take a shower. After getting done with that, I go back to the closet and find clothes to wear.
My fashion consists of dark materials and scarves. Scarfs are my favorite type of clothing as they're stylish, warm, and can easily cover my mouth. I wear the same outfit as I did earlier today, but this time with a zipped up long-sleeve black jacket.
Turning on my laptop and checking to see if there are any new police brutality cases in Virginia. There are no further reports or issues at the moment. So I decided to check if any Virginia officers got off from a police brutality case. There are plenty that roams the streets across Virginia. But I wanted to find the one closest to me since I don't want to go back to Albemarle County. I found several of them living near Norfolk.
But before I hunt and eat dinner, I have to do my night exercises. I needed to maintain my physique and build up more muscles on my lifeless body.
Vampires can get fat as well; not all of them have a body of a god. Plus, overeating human meat and drinking too much blood can cause the body to feel heavier and weaker. That's why I limit myself to only two or three cops a night so that I won't look or feel like a pig.
I take my small portable music device and start listening to music. I go to my "Throwback" music playlist because I'm not feeling the latest hits of 2026. Plus, I'm more of a fan of older jams.
"Helicopter" by J Hus (feat. Iceè tgm) plays.
As the music begins to play, I did one hundred push-ups. My body is hurting since the bullet wounds are still affecting me. My muscles feel like they are going to explode, but I made it to one hundred. I rested my muscles for a few minutes and moved on to my next workout.
Next song: "Die Young" by Roddy Ricch, plays.
The next exercise I wanted to do is upside down sit-ups. I take off my black shoes, exposing my sharp and pointy toenails. I leap up, flip upside down, and attach myself to the ceiling. Adjusting my music player to make sure it does not fall off. Crossing my arms on my chest like I am dying at my funeral. I did one hundred upside-down sit-ups until I started to taste my blood.
I get off from the ceiling and land back with my feet touching the floor. I put back on my shoes. Checking the time, and it reads 9:00 pm. I still have a lot more time left.
So I decided to leave my apartment through the window. I don't like entering or exiting my apartment the usual way. People, especially the owners, always ask annoying questions.
"Where have you been?"
"Why don't I see you in the morning time?"
"Why do you only come out at night?"
"Is everything alright?"
"Do you need anything?"
"Why aren't you more social?"
"Do you hate us?"
"We got a special event coming up; care to join?"
"Why do you dress so weird?"
"Are you the one making noises at night?"
"Why do you wear scarves all the time?"
"Why do you look so scary?"
So many more dumb and annoying questions that they frequently ask whenever I see them. Thankfully, I have not seen them in over a year. I always pay my rent on time so that they won't think I'm dead— even though I already am. Also, they can stop bugging me with tedious questions.
I made it far away from the apartment, and I am at an empty park.
The air tasted succulent in my mouth. The river flowed gracefully. The skies looked like heaven. The trees are singing a peaceful melody. The feral cats are not running away from my presence this time.
I always come here at night before I go hunting because it's still lovely and quiet. Also, it's a massive park for me to run. With the park closed and no cars or humans in sight, I started running.
"Blood on Me" by Sampha plays.
While I'm running and listening to music, I also like to ponder about random things. The one thing that always bothered me is that I can't be the only living black vampire. There probably are other vampires in other states and countries. But never in my life have I seen another black vampire. I always wanted to know if there's another one of my kind lurking in the world. Curious to meet one to see if they have the same abilities or if they have been oppressed like me. I also want to meet one if they can help me find my true identity or if they knew my parents and who killed them.
I tried reading books and searching online if any black vampires existed. All I found are conspiracy theories, white vampires, and movies that have black vampires in it. But no actual evidence of black vampires living.
I believe there is another black vampire or more somewhere in the world. I just need to continue searching.
I run around the park for one hour straight. My body wanted to shut down because of the excruciating pain I am feeling, but I pulled through. I decided to stop running and put away my music device.
My stomach begins to growl. Time continued to waste away.
I leave the park to begin my hunting. I smell food from a mile away.
