Chapter 1 - 01

'Metanoia...'

Rallies of daft humans fell onto their knees and prayed to the android that sat up on a throne of rusted metals.

She never responded, smiled, or felt anything at all towards the pitiful things that exposed vulnerability to her everyday. She was an android, a machine. Only made to do whatever was in her coding, it was simple. To sit pretty.

Designed to emit a bright light and elude people, trick them into believing it's heaven on earth. Since earth was well- just a place to rot until you die and end up who knows where.

It had nothing. No beauty whatsoever. The only splendor one could witness in their lifetime was the presence of the man made machine god who had the appearance of an angel.

A god who did not grant, and an angel that did not fly.

Like such twisted love, the humans kept her bound to them. Wires exposed and entangled, soiled by the unholy fumes released by the machines that continued to supply her power.

---

"Hugo." A young man in tattered clothes knelt down infront of a much older one, who seemed more of a machine than a human. A cyborg. His body has been tweaked in so many ways possible you could easily mistake him for a runaway test subject.

"What is it, 301?"

In the vicinity, people were called by numbers, tags embedded in their rotting clothing. The only exceptions to the little tradition was Metanoia, Hugo (who was the leader of the project- which not shockingly is named after their machine god), and a few others who played a big roll in Meta's development.

"Sir... It appears our security has been breached and we can't identify where the attack is coming from. Whatever it is, it's moving very quickly."

Lights flickered and burnt out, the sound of gears turning stopped, all power was out, startling the two before they could finish their conversation.

"What the fuck!?" The man who held the fate of the vicinity in the palm of his hands began scanning the area frantically.

There was no riots of armed people charging into the vicinity, neither had he found the signature of an individual not part of the cult. Perhaps he was crazed, but he wasn't  stupid. It didn't take too much to occur to him that they have been breached through means hacking. "But who in this golden dead age would be skilled enough to shut down the entire facility in such a short span of time? Let alone for what reasons are they doing this!? The Metanoia project is for the hope of humanity!"

Pacing around the area Hugo decides on the best course of action. 'Metanoia'

"Son of a bitch." He pauses for a moment, then runs over to the android's chambers, only to find it empty. Halves of her previously exposed wires obviously ripped off. And the ceiling despite being a hardy metal was utterly obliterated.

It is no doubt an awful day for Hugo.
