"I would not be making you hold this...instead a gun to shoot yourself."
He pulled out one fully loaded revolver from the drawer of his glass table before them and placed it on her hand.
Her eyes were stuck on the black gun and then lifted to see the psychotic owner of it, who was eyeing all over herself.
He made her hold the trigger and then placed the hole of the revolver right in the middle of her forehead.
A crazy demeanor taking over himself. She did not flinch either and continued to be there with him, without moving.
He chuckled.
"One thing you must know...that I do not joke around, baby."
"What the hell?!"
The moment was broken in by the intrusion of Regina Del Cardoso, who was not expecting her brother to be pointing a gun against the woman, whom he had publicly claimed to be his girlfriend only a few days ago.
"Regina? How many times have I told you to not use my lift?"
Ryan let go of the gun and put it back on the table, standing up. While Alister remained static on her spot, trying to process everything that had happened or could have happened.
"Already came to the point of pulling out a gun onto her?"
Regina ignored her brother's words and he rolled his eyes at that. His sister could be very annoying at times, showing up uninvited, unnoticed, and uncalled for so often.
"So much for claiming to have fallen in love, huh!"
She passed out a sheepish laughter, looking back and forth at Alister and Ryan.
"If I had not come, would her blood be on your hands?"
"Oh! Cut to the chase, Regi...why are you here?"
He interrupted her, and she continued to stare at them but when her brother was about to strode forward and call for the security, she spoke up.
"I came for the Heartland property files."
"You are not selling it."
Ryan fumed, going around and standing on the other side, keeping his office mahogany desk between him and his sister.
"It is in my name. I do as I desire with it."
"It is a family heirloom, Regi."
"And I want it to be discarded off from being one."
Regina stated. He had tried hard to make her change her mind on the issue for months by then. But she was as stubborn as a horse.
"It's where our parents fell in love for the first time."
Ryan's eyes softened for a bit as he let it out. Alister could see the sudden change in his composure but then fading off right away as soon as it came.
"And then he cheated."
"Regi!"
"You stole the file from me...how low can you stoop?"
She yelled out at him and even though it was directed at him, Alister felt uncomfortable too, standing up from sitting.
The family was indeed the craziest that Alister had ever encountered to be with one.
Each one of them was after something from the other. It was a fully known chaos, waiting for the day when all of it would come down to the point of bursting out.
"I only came to ask for it to be returned to me by midnight tonight...did not mean to interrupt anything, at all."
Regina smiled at Alister and then back at her brother as if she had not been yelling a while ago.
If the brother was insane, the sister was a step ahead of him. The duo could make anyone lose their mind if put together in one with them. Just like her in that moment.
"Although, you must be thanking me..."
She turned her attention to Alister. The couple remained quiet. Ryan was all ready to step in if Regi attempted to overstep.
"He would have been making calls right now about how to dispose of your dead, limp body..."
"Regi!"
He raised his voice. He knew he had scared the poor girl enough for the day and he did not need his sister to pour more gasoline into the fire.
"...if not for me."
"Thank you, Regina."
The words that came out from her mouth, made him look at her. Regina chuckled at her brother playfully.
"...for saving my life."
"Always...file must be back by midnight."
She smiled at Alister and then narrowed her eyes at Ryan, before stepping out through the same lift.
The moment she was off, Ryan dialed his security and scolded them for letting his sister in without his permission.
Alister could hear the man behind that call terrified. After all, how could he have stopped Regina Del Cardoso from meeting her brother?
When he was done with the call, he looked over at Alister, who was lost in her trains of thought.
He picked up his coat, putting his cell back inside his pants pocket, he came up to her, making her look up at him.
"I'm tired for the day. Let's go home."
He said, offering his hand out for her to hold. She could not help but stare at it.
If it was not the same hand that was holding a gun to her, about to pull the trigger? Now asking her to come home with him!
He caught hold of her right hand, without waiting for her to willingly give it to him, and pulled her with him, wherever he went, she followed.
The more time she spent, the more she realized how fast she needed to get away from a man like him...as soon as possible.
The warmness of his hold, as she could feel it on her skin, his eyes trained to the front, hers all over him...trying to understand what kind of man he was, she had seen many.
Yet it was hard to put him in any one of the categories. One thing was confirmed he was not just any good man...but then she was not an angel either.
How stupid of her to play the judge?!
