Ryan Del Cardoso dawdled on the bar counter looking out for his blind date.
He hated waiting and not to mention how much he disliked the idea of waiting for someone else when he was so used to making others wait for him.
But then maintaining a good and healthy relationship with the Stephensons was necessary for their upcoming deal.
Plus also he knew that without fail by the end of the next month, he would have to get married to get eligible for his grandfather's will.
So he thought why not give this a chance and maybe Bianca Stephenson might end up as his wife for two months now.
He did not see what wrong was with that. Bianca would make a good wife. She belonged to a well-known family, marched his family's standard and class too unlike all the women his secretary had made him meet.
They all belonged from a wealthy family but it did not sit quite well with him that they were all thirsty bitch wanting to throw themselves at him just to secure their future.
He did not want love from the marriage but at least he wanted someone who he could at least stand the presence of when on public occasions otherwise it would become a headache.
"One martini. "
Ryan ordered after waiting for five minutes by the counter. The bartender nodded and served him one right away.
He picked the flute up and took a little sip. His assistant had booked the entire place for the evening for they were aware of how people get when they notice Ryan Del Cardoso in public even though only wealthy people could afford this place.
So there were not many people around the hall. He roamed around, waiting impatiently and for a while, he felt like he made a mistake even thinking of giving this blind date a chance considering how late this rich heiress brat was taking time to reach here.
It was for sure that she had no sense about how much important time was. And he could not even think of entertaining this mess anymore minute now.
Across the lobby, Alister saw how Ryan was making his way towards the exit. Thanks to God that she noticed it. The traffic was so much worse today that she had to get out of the booked taxi and walk up to here. Her high heels were still on her hands as she took them off to walk faster.
By the time she reached, she was huffing to catch air and breathe in patience but then her eyes caught the sight of the man for whom she was here about to leave.
She could not wait another minute and wait so she did not bother to put on her heels back either.
She stepped forward, trying to reach out for him. Her hands tightly clutching the ends of her heavy Dior gown to run faster. The lobby and hall seemed miles apart. She had no care about her looks at that moment. She was sure that the makeup had worn off from her sweating after running for so long in the street.
Since the venue was paid for by him, as soon as they noticed an unknown lady looking like a lunatic in a heavy gown with no footwear, making her way inside with barefoot, the restaurant watchmen followed after her.
"Miss....Miss!!! Wait right there...you are not allowed to go in. This place is booked for tonight. Miss...miss wait!!!"
Alister turned back to see the guards striding towards her. She then looked back at Ryan who was still walking away and she knew that she was late...already too late and she could not help but feel the rush at the moment.
She had to make up a quick choice. Either follow the orders of these guards and turn back and lose her one million dollars or break the rules and make a run for Ryan as if her ass was on fire.
"Miss...miss wait right there!!!"
And right then she made her mind to the last option. It was better than to bid the one million dollars goodbye only for the cost of a momentary humiliation and may be facing some kind of penalty which she was sure that Blake would help her get out of it. She was after all doing this for him.
So she turned forward and set her legs on a run yet again totally ignoring the screams of the guards to reach Ryan. The guards ran after her.
When she saw that he was already going out and she was too far to reach out for him and the guards were right behind her. She screamed his name out as if she was so used to calling him out.
"Ry.....Ryan...Ryan!!!! "
Ryan stopped on his track as he heard his name being called by someone. But the moment he was about to turn and check out who it was that calling out his name like they had done this for so long.
Alister ran and extended one of her hands to touch his shoulder but the guards stepped on the end of her long gown clothing and she tripped forward and landed right onto Ryan's back for support.
The moment he was about to turn around and look out, someone landed on his back, the flute from his hand flipped up, and the hands held tightly on his shoulder afraid to let go.
"Ryan...Ryan...Don't...don't go...don't go..."
Alister mouthed out, her senses were off for the timing as her concentration was to only get Ryan's attention and not be pulled away by those guards.
Ryan was a little bit taken back as nobody had ever touched him like that. People feared to even get closer to him. He wanted to check...check out who this creature was so fearless and daring...
So he held onto her wrist and turned her around such that Alister felt a tug and flipped in the front, her feet slipped on the spilled martini, and the shattered glass pierced into her skin as she hissed and fell on his chest.
He lifted her chin off to see her face and he was shocked to see who it was. It was her...
"You???"
