Chapter 50 - Chapter 49: Chosen Child of The Greek Gods

As Willow explained the situation, Hannah looked to her in bewilderment, "This child of Hades, Serah, you say, is trying to kill everyone in Beijing?"

Willow nodded as she sat in her chair in a lax manner. Hannah frowned, "But why me?"

Hearing her words, Willow stared at her with a raised brow again. Hannah frowned when she felt as though the woman before her was looking at her as if she was looking at idiot. Willow sighed and pulled up the clip on her phone before tossing it to her, "Watch that."

Minutes later, Willow could see the change on Hannah's face to which the woman looked back to her in shock, "This... This can't be..."

Willow sighed, "When you made that reckless move, you should've considered the possibility of getting revealed. Though nobody can fault you for not realizing that your ability could mess with the broadcasting. However, you should've checked the clip when you did that. After all, now you're a target for other demigods."

"Are you one of them?" Hannah questioned her nervously as she glared at her.

  So honest.

Willow smirked, "Nope. But that doesn't mean that your situation doesn't influence my work. Thanks to that clip, you need to keep a low profile or the gods will have a difficult time setting Hades' mind straight again."

"But that'll just be the gods' business."

Willow sighed, "I wouldn't be here if you weren't in danger, you know."

Hearing her words, Hannah raised a brow, "What do you mean? You're saying that my problem is more than just the gods' business?"

"Am I not?" Willow played a smirk on her dry face, "You pass on and the gods will be in a difficult situation because they can't make big changes in the human realm on their own. They also can't interfere with your death even if they want to because it'll interfere with the life and death process. So, what do they do when you got captured but can't use your ability? They dragged me out to the front because you were in trouble. You're the chosen child of the Greek gods, after all."

"I am?" Hannah looked to her in confusion.

Willow sighed in exasperation. This woman...

Is she a fool or a wolf in disguise?

"There was a greek goddess that said their chosen child still required time to grow." Willow answered with a frown, "When I saw the video, I knew that it was you."

"A goddess?!" Hannah looked up to her in bewilderment, "Is it the one with the ethreal appearance with her hair up and white dress?"

"I'd say so." Willow shrugged, "But there's a lot of greek goddess in a tunic. Would be great if she had given us her name from the beginning."

"Then, are you also chosen by her?" Hannah questioned in confusion after realization hits her.

"Chosen by her?" Willow shrugged, "Nah, the Chinese gods randomly chose me from the pile of dying bodies within these parts a few months ago."

"Then why me?" Hannah questioned in confusion.

Willow frowned deeper and walked over to take her phone back, "Remember this, Hannah. We aren't the only demigods in the world. There will always be others, but, amongst all of them, their abilities will always have a certain capacity. However, time is something that not all have. It's something similar to how humans view angels."

"I didn't know my existence would be that special." Hannah noted casually.

"Oh, but it is." Willow smirked with hidden annoyance, "And when there's angels, there's demons. Where there's light, there's dark. You said you didn't know you would be a special existence? Then, you should be wary of the wolves that come after you and those you are connected to. Once people know there's something that they cannot get, they would only want it more, such as everlasting peace or a cure all to pain."

"That's..." Hannah grimaced feeling that what she said wasn't wrong. After all, there have always been wars going around the world.

Willow shook her head, "At this point, you can't say that it wasn't your fault that you don't know, but you should've known that your powers and actions back at the UN conference would make you a target. Now, that you know, I'm curious to know what actions you'll go from here."

"You won't help us?" Hannah looked to her in confusion.

Willow shrugged, "I have my own people to protect and a mission my dad threw over my head with. I don't have the time to save the entire world from danger. Just protecting those close to me is enough pressure on me. Can't take in more, especially when those people I'm trying to protect are overseas and I'm stuck here."

"Then, why don't you go see them?"

Willow smirked upon hearing her thoughtless ideas, "Since when did a country thought it was a good idea to send foreigners from their affected population to another country? Not only would the people be blamed, but the whole country and government would also be looked down upon. Thanks to the current situation, even America is experiencing the quarantine on their coasts too. Nobody can leave their homes whenever they want. Only for errands."

Hannah pursed her lips in frustration when she heard this. Willow sighed, "Forget that right now. Right now, I can't help you save your other friends since I'm not strong enough to enter their hideout right now."

"Then, I can go there instead!" Hannah spoke up hurriedly.

Unimpressed, Willow frowned and narrowed her eyes when she heard this, "You have power, but not enough control nor knowledge. Don't think this would be like taking down Elijah all over again. Other demigods won't hesitate to resort to little tricks to mess with you. You must've experienced that before you got here, right?"

Stunned, Hannah thought for a bit before she looked up again, "That's right! I was in the airplanes with my friends and going to fight against Melaine when our plane suddenly had a turbulence problem and crashed into the ocean. Rayn saved us, but we were ambushed as soon as we got to the shore. It wasn't even our intention to reach Beijing, but the flight attendants were a little strange. We were the only ones that lived through the crash, I think. We didn't see anyone else, so I'm not too sure about the last one. But how did they know?"

Willow shook her head with a frown, "Did you try calling someone when you were last on your phone? Maybe before boarding?"

"My mother." Hannah responded as matter of fact.

"They can hijack communication lines." Willow responded, "Tell me about this Melaine person you were saying about."

"Melaine?" the woman on the bed raised a brow, "Don't you know? She's the daughter of Hades and the goddess of nightmares."

"Goddess of nightmares?" Willow frowned in confusion, "A daughter of Hades would mean that she should have Greek blood in her, so how did she suddenly became a goddess of nightmare? No wait. Maybe she's not exactly the goddess of nightmares."

"What do you mean?" Hannah questioned her in confusion.

"You're probably not wrong about Melaine and her nightmare ability." Willow responded, "But, she might not be a goddess of nightmares. Just as how Hermes can bring the souls of the dead to the underworld while still being the god of thieves. Already, Hades have a few gods helping his bring the souls of the dead to the Underworld, such as Thanatos. Hermes wasn't even called the god of death for something Thanatos can already do, was he? And, Thanatos has the title of the god of death."

"Such a thing like this can happen?" Hannah looked at her in bewilderment, "But I thought Hades was the god of death."

"He's the god of the Underworld." Willow explained, "But, he's always associated with death, so when people hear his name, they often associate him with death and evil."

"Isn't he evil?" Hannah looked to her in confusion.

"I don't know." Willow shrugged, "All I know is that he's using some underhanded methods to break free from his seal for some reason. That method is also messing with the other heavens of different culture."

She then went ahead and explained a bit more of the little pact the heavens formed before war broke out according to what Akira had told her.

"There was such a thing?!" Hannah's jaw nearly dropped the moment she heard this.

"Apparently so." Willow nodded her head with a frown, "I got this information from a trusted source, so it's not wrong."

Or she would severely punish that fox when she find out he was lying to her. Sadly, the fox was smart not to tell a lie as he feared more annoying work would be thrown onto him. Since when was a fox god outsmarted by a human so easily?!

"I had no idea it would be this complicated." Hannah responded with wide eyes as she stared at Willow in bewilderment, "Then, what would happen to us now?"

Willow shrugged, "That's up to you. I still need to get stronger before I can finish up my own work."

"You really won't help us?" Hannah looked to her with a lost expression, "But if this goes on, Hades will be unsealed. Then, the people you want to protect would be in danger."

"If they want to hurt my family's people and my friends, they're in for trouble." Willow responded with a sigh, "You've already dealt with one of them too, so that's fine. However, I have my situation with a teenage girl."

"The child must've had her own situation." Hannah responded with a frown, "She might be different from Elijah."

Willow nodded with a sigh, "Sure, but forgiveness can only come about when they make up for it. If she killed your family members, can you forgive her if she said she had her own personal reasons? I, for one, won't accept it. Not after hearing seeing that she still came chasing after you guys when she lost track of you earlier."

"She came after us?!" Hannah looked up to her in shock.

"She's gone for now." Willow clarified with a sigh, "But, let me repeat myself. I'm not planning to join your group. I'm not here to save everyone in the world, just so you know. I don't work for such a selfless reason. If they dare to take the life of those around me, I pay back the favor ten fold."

"You'll kill them?!" Hannah gasped in horror with a shudder.

"Kill them?" Willow raised a brow with a scary glint in her eyes, "Is their life worth enough to pay for the life of those around me?"

A shiver ran down her back as Hannah saw the cold stare in Willow's eyes that now hold a mysterious and icy glint. It almost made her feel as though this woman before her would do exactly as she said she would do and wouldn't even bat an eye. Willow sighed and shook her head, "I won't try to interfere with your business, but, since we have a similar goal, I'll tell you right now that we'll definitely come across each other a few more times."

"But, why not work with us?" Hannah questioned again, "I mean, since our goals are similar we'll achieve it faster if we work together. Also, you don't have to follow us out of China if you want to stay here when all of this is over."

"Next time, maybe I'll think about it." Willow shrugged and opened her book, "With all these random situation going on and you still don't have a grasp of it, you still want to take Serah head on? What a joke."
