During all his battles Mares would reinforce the multi-weapon with his astral energy, so it would usually not break or crack unless it an opponent more, which was not the case, meaning there was only one explanation, Mares' astral energy was now more than what the multi-weapon could contain.
Warriors could use the reinforcement aspect of astral energy in many ways, one of which was on objects making them stronger.
In theory, this meant that a warrior could take a piece of stick and turn it into a weapon, it is just that in practice it was not so simple.
One could reinforce a stick, but even if they could, when facing an enemy of equal strength, it would just make them waste more astral energy to make the stick able to withstand the enemy's attack.
Unless there was a huge gap of strength between two warriors doing something like that was just a way to declare to the universe you were insane.
